Hello again, blessings to you!
I wanted to let you know that I have decided to retire the game and focus on a new project. NFP didn't perform as well as I had hoped, but I am grateful for the support of all of you who played the game and provided feedback. I may revisit NFP in the future, depending on how my new project progresses, but for now I am putting it on hiatus.
My new project is a game that I am very excited about. I can't reveal too much about it just yet, but I can tell you that it is a rouge-like, inspired by Toe Jam & Earl and A Link to the Past, where you slay demons by the power of God! I am confident that this game will be more successful than NFP and achieve its goals in a way that NFP never could. I don't know when it will launch, but you will find news for it here until I can prepare a more appropriate medium. For now, however, I will leave you with this early thumbnail for the game:
Like a pirate with new-found depth perception issues Neon Force Pushers is stumbling in with a new patch!
- Added new character skins! Each character now has a unique set of skins for you to select from!
- Added more controller hints! (They also stay out of each other's way now!)
- Fixed settings in Graphics Menu being un-navigable by controller. This was the last issue preventing NFP from having full controller support!
- Fixed the game being too dark when the graphics setting 'Terrain Emission' was set to off.
- Fixed custom controls not loading properly. You will no longer need to remap your controls every time you start the game!
- Fixed how analog sticks behaved in control menus. They were kinda sketchy before.
Woah! A new update? Today? Who could've known? Not me. Not with all the complications in this past week. I'll spare you the details until after the feature list of this new update!
Main features
- New, extra shiny, graphics!
- Replaced old menus with a hub world!
- Replaced old character customization with character/skin selections!
- New music commissioned for Neon Force Pushers by Googie!
Blessings to you, Blaze the star here! It has been a long time since NFP was last updated, about half a year or so, and I have been wanting to let you all know what's been going on. Firstly, the game is not dead. These past months I've been working hard adding features, upgrading systems, and squashing bugs! In this post I will be telling you about what Ive completed so far, more that I plan to release in this coming update, and what I plan for the update after that! Keep in mind some or all of this can be subject to change.
Whats been completed? (Upcoming v1.3.0)
Firstly, a new hub-world will replace the old menus. Menus will be seamlessly integrated into the world with the use of stations. Enter a station and a menu will pop-up with any related options for that station. For example, enter a character station and you will get a menu allowing you to change characters, or enter a game station if you want to select a stage and play. The removal of the old menus also helps with my efforts to add full controller support to NFP since that was previously a difficult problem to solve. Secondly, and this is probably where the majority of my time was spent, I have completely overhauled the visuals of the game. The terrain, objects, characters have all been redone, looking better than ever! I even added new backgrounds to the levels, adding new depth to the world! My words could never tell you how much different it is, so I will show rather than tell with the image below!
Last, but not least, music! Neon Force Pushers will finally have its own commissioned soundtrack done by Google I mean Googie, with an i instead of an L. To get an idea of what the soundtrack will sound like go listen to Googies music over on soundcloud! Some of my personal favorites from Googie are Licking The Moon, Kobold Spacefarer, Saber Spirit, Dusty Abode, and Streaks of Silver. With all that, the list of things I still need to add is relatively small. I will implement a new character system to facilitate their new look and give them more expressive eyes! I will add full controller support, finalize the hub-world, and fix many bugs! I also may or may not add online functionality back into the game. If I dont add it into this update I will add it to the next. What do you think? Should I add it sooner? Do you care? Let me know in the discussions below!
Whats next? (Future v1.4.0)
In v1.4.0 I will be adding a story mode to NFP. The first of seven episodes will be added to the game for free with seven levels per episode. These levels will be linear 2D platformer sections with optional multiplayer coop and the same push mechanics we all know and love!... or at least tolerate. The story will follow the people who live in a place called the Cosmosect, a strange dimension with glowing walls, twisted space, and wonky gravity. This strange world has been colonized by grub-like pill creatures with animal features. Living spaces, industry, farms, and cities have all been established by them in this alien environment with supply lines to and from their native world. They live in relative peace until one day they are completely cut off from their native world. Panic plagues the inhabitants of the Cosmosect and in the chaos a militant faction rises, establishing a total dictatorship wherever they hold control. I would say more, but I dont want to spoil the story too much. For now we will just move on to the next topic. SHOES! Play game, get shoes, more shoes, LOTSA SHOES!!!......... trade shoes, use shoes in shop... Shop with shoes With the shoes you collected in the previous lines its very important you dont eschew the shop. In the shop you will be able to buy boxes with your shoes and in those boxes will be new characters, skins for your characters, and new wave effects! The shop is NOT as simple as trade shoes for boxes though, because there are different types of boxes and shoes! Red shoes, green shoes, blue shoes, and cashews! You will only be able to buy the box that corresponds to the shoes you have. All players will be rewarded all types of shoes for playing the game, but each player will receive one type of shoe more abundantly than the other types. One player may get an abundance of red shoes, a different player may have an abundance of green shoes, and they would be able to trade shoes so that they can purchase the things they want from the shop quicker! At last this is the end! I have told you every plan! I have said EVERYTHING +1. There is nothing more to be said. Let me give you a blessing then I will leave you to your way. May the lord bless you and keep you! May he make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you! May he lift up his countenance on you and give you his peace! In the name of Jesus! That's all, you are free to go, but before you do please take your shoes with you. They are completely cluttering my workspace and I need to get back to work.
If you update a game and it replaces every piece code, is it still the same game? I don't know, but Neon Force Pushers is updated today! While very few new features were actually added, a lot of work was put into improving the game's quality. Many textures have been remade, the controls made more responsive, and the performance improved drastically. Really, this is how the game should have been from the start and I made a huge mistake releasing it in the state that it was in. We are here now though! :D Here's are some things you can expect from this new update.
- Character design changed to have shoes! They are now a lot more expressive!
- Character animations now have more squish and stretch!
- Create your own oc in the character creator! The features of which are not complete however.
- Controls have been made more responsive.
- Performance is greatly improved. Most computers should be able to play it fine.
- Mac support is no more. Sorry Mac. :(
- You now can be in multiple places at once while standing on the edge of the screen. Visuals now wrap around the screen.
- Textures have been changed to be more smooth!
- Feeling lonely? Want to have friends? I can't help with that, but you can now have fun alone with the single player challenges!
- The Pause screen is now a thing! Press Escape to pause your game when you want throw off your opponents! ;)
- Mock your opponents with the new crouch feature! You might as well as it serves no other purpose...
- I've received complaints regarding the A.I. so I removed it. You can't complain about a feature that doesn't exist. :)
- Connecting to a friend's game by their IP address is no longer possible. It's easier to just use remote play anyways.
Summer Celebration is an expansion pack for the free to play game Neon Force Pushers, adding double the amount of stages to the base game. The stages included in this pack are Squirt Scuffle, Don't Drown, Beach Ballistics, and Lemon Leverage. Squirt Scuffle is a stage filled with water pretty water fountains that will push the you high into the air! Use these streams of water to your advantage, or end up flying to your death! Don't Drown is a flooded stage with water everywhere! Master the effects of your force push while above and below water, and don't forget to breath! Play a nice deadly game of dodge ball in Beach Ballistics! Use your force push to to send hazardous beach balls flying towards your opponents, but be careful not to get hit yourself! Lemon juice is actually very detrimental to your force pushing ability. It's true! Avoid being squirted by the lemon juice in Lemon Leverage, else you'll be left helpless without force pushing against your opponents! https://store.steampowered.com/app/887580/Neon_Force_Pushers__Summer_Celebration/
+ Changed menus to better fit the general visual theme + Optimized performance + Added graphics options
Change log: + Added guards (CPU controlled players) Guards are aggressive foes who hunt you down and terminate you upon contact. They, however, are not able to force push and are quite dumb. DLC: DLC adding new stages for Neon Force Pushers, has been released in the steam store. This new DLC, the spatial flux DLC, adds 4 new stages to the game that have strange and fun movement features. The new stages included in this pack are Chaos Labyrinth, Loony Box, Factory Way, and Flip-tronix. Chaos Labyrinth is a maze of corridors lined with deadly spikes. The stage is frequently rotating 90 degrees left and right, changing the layout of the stage and making you think on your feet, or fall on your head. Loony Box puts you inside a spinning box with gravity that pulls you to the edges forcing you to fight off your foes while switching from standing on the floor to standing on the wall!... or is that a ceiling? Factory way places you in a long factory with smashing pistons and speeding conveyor belts. You won't stand still in this level, the walls will push you forward. In Flip-tronix, you are fighting on the walls and you can use your force push ability to flip the gravity to other side of the stage! However, you mus't let this power go to your head, you must be humble and use it for good... or, you know, use it to send your friends into spikes... Whichever you prefer.
