Update 3: Mainly Offline Fixes


Hello all! Some more fixes and tweaks for you today.

Changes and Additions


Cosmetic
  • The audio pitch ramping for hitting and destroying blocks should now decrease faster in between events, so the sound will less often be stuck at a very high pitch.
  • Improved visual transition of the planets rings into open space.
UI
  • World Rank tier will now default to the lowest ranking instead of the middle one while playing offline.

Fixes


Gameplay
  • Slightly improved consistency of ball physics.
UI
  • Stopped player from getting stuck in the post game name screen while playing offline.
  • Stats values will now correctly load into the Account menu even if you quickly rush into it after the game launches.
  • The values for your previous and current Average score should now be accurate when switching between DRM free and Steam version or online and offline.
  • Loading visuals should now be visible in the Stats screen if viewed while paused.

Update 2: Fixes Fixes!


Hi again! Not all of our fixes in the last update came out the way we wanted, and some had a few nasty side effects so we’re here today to clean up!

Changes and Additions


Gameplay
  • You can now press R on the keyboard to start a new game.
  • Added 3 new achievements
    • Too Close - Perform 5 dangerously low brick breaks.
    • Thirsty - In 1 game collect 100 point drops, don’t lose any.
    • Now It Begins - Hit the Play button 5 times.
UI
  • Reworded “Second Highest Score” notification popup to “Second Highest Personal Best” to make it more clear.

Fixes


Gameplay
  • Lots of block explosions while playing on the Steam version should no longer temporarily hang the game. (Thanks to Silentstorm on the Steam forums for bringing this to our attention!).
  • Fixed one block row group type from not shutting down its rotation when you destroy its core.
UI
  • We’ve taken another swing at stopping playing on Steam from renaming your Scoreboard ID, you should now be able to change your name in the Stats menu and have it stick.
  • Improved accuracy of Stat and Achievement tracking
  • The Global Tier Chevron and Account Level Number will no longer be clickable in the post game as this resulted in hiding their descriptions.
  • Global leaderboard should now always focus on your position upon loading it
  • Friends Leaderboard should now always focus on your position when loading it

Update 1: Post Release Fixes!


Hi everyone! First off, a huge thanks from the team to all of you who have been playing HOT PINK so far. It’s great to see y’all enjoying it and even giving us a run at our high scores. It’s been nearly a week now, and we’ve been working since launch on some fixes. Please keep sharing your thoughts as you play, positive or negative as it’s all been very helpful! We’ll soon be posting some news on some of our thoughts for post release plans with HOT PINK that don't fit into simple patches.

Changes and Additions


Gameplay
  • In-Game Spicy/Mild/Cool Challenges no longer have their Reward value multiplied by your Combo metre.
    • Other score rewards for various block breaks, point pickups and the combo multiplier have been altered to make up for the difference.
    • This should result in a more consistent, skill based final score rather than getting lucky on high value challenges completing at the right time.
    • As this change should be simply leveling the skill/luck output for your final score, we are not resetting the leaderboard for this change.
  • Blocks will no longer be able to take any damage if they have not yet entered the gameplay space.
Performance Improvements
  • Added an automatic FPS lock for the game while in menus (60fps) and while the game window is not in focus (15fps). The framerate while playing remains uncapped.
    • This will make HOT PINK a lot more reasonable to leave running in the background without stealing all your computer’s stuff.

Fixes


Gameplay
  • Improved Ball/Block hit detection and bounce direction consistency.
  • Stopped rare instances of the camera drifting away from the gameplay space. (Thanks to Christoph for emailing in with this!)
  • "Magician" Challenge/Achievement now triggers for the correct number of balls.
UI
  • Fixed Settings not being saved on Linux and OSX. (Thanks to jst on the forums for bringing this up!)
  • Stopped the Scoreboard from sometimes being offset vertically when you load it in the Stats menu.
  • Put a stop to some cases of your new Highscore not being reflected immediately in the Scoreboard in the post game UI.
  • Percentage completed on Challenges in the Stats menu should now reflect your progress and not just rest at 0% until completion
    • Players on Steam will now also see this reflected in the progress towards most Steam achievements for these Challenges.
  • Playing on Steam will no longer reset your scoreboard name to your Steam name every time you start the game.
    • To fix this properly, the next time you complete a game you will be asked again to enter your desired name for the scoreboard.
  • Stopped the Scoreboard from duplicating the last player within the viewable positions.
Cosmetic
  • "Play Game" text prompts will now properly cycle after each new game.

HOT PINK is a new hyperactive take on the classic arcade spirit that inspired it.

Your goal is simple: break as many blocks as you can for as long as you can. Ensure none reach the bottom of the screen and that you keep at least one ball on the field. Keeping your balls alive rewards you with an even faster paced game, leading to higher combos and better scores to best your friends.

Games last minutes at most, but it's how you play in that time that counts.
