Happy 10 years of Night School Studio! A whole decade, huh? Thats a long time to be making games. Were stoked were still here, and even more stoked that youre still here. We at Night School know were nothing without our incredible community. These 10 years wouldnt have been possible without you. From making OXENFREE as a scrappy, tiny ragtag team to joining Netflix and taking our games to new heights, its been a ride and were deeply grateful to have had you along every step of the way. Dang. 8 years ago TODAY, we were crossing all our digits getting ready to launch the game into the world. Only a year and a half earlier, we werent a company, or even a team. Most of us were strangers 18 months earlier, and Im so grateful that our game is what brought all of these cool folks into my life. Today is the 8 year anniversary of OXENFREE, and your passion for the game is why we were able to create OXENFREE II(which is awesome and you should play if you havent yet). In retrospect it all seems stupidly simple; we dove headlong into a game design and story that were intuitively inspiring. We didnt overthink it, hunted down like-minded folks with crazy skills, stuck them in a box in Glendale California, and hammered on architecting a tiny, scary world. We argued a lot, but over the little things, which felt a lot healthier than the alternative. It was always about getting the game and its world just right, and we had so much fun doing it. Night School closed out 2023 with no shortage of cool news! OXENFREE II made a tonofendofyearlists, and the voice of Riley, Liz Saydah, was nominated for Best Acting in a Game by the New York Video Game Critics Circle. The USS Kanaloa might not be treating the residents of Camena too nicely these last years, but its given us more than we couldve dreamed of back in 2016. Thank you! Hello! Because it's the seventh anniversary of OXENFREE's release, I wanted to hop over on Steam to thank our community for its kindness, support, and enthusiasm. We're hard at work on OXENFREE II: Lost Signals and cant wait to share it with you later this year. With this anniversary and the game's release, 2023 is shaping up to be a huge year for all of us at Night School Studio. I'm so thankful that youre along for the ride. In this new year, we wanted to take a moment to learn more about our community things like where you play and how you play. Speaking of spoilers, I'd like to share a new screenshot from the game with you. That's right: OXENFREE II has TREES. Surprise! Real Snape-kills-Trinity-with-Rosebud moment, ain't it? But on a serious note: you'll also notice a large building in the background. This is the North Camena Community Center. It's a fairly looming and ominous place that Parentage uses as its church and home base. If you were folowig the suscious radio brodcas breaking into our OXEFR patces last year, you probably heard some of this weird, cult-like group's messages on the radio. What happens inside the community center is as Jacob says - "a little to a lot strange." I can't wait for you to explore what's inside. It's gonna be good. And scary. A little of both? Every owner of the game should now be able to update Oxenfree and experience the continuation of Alex's story. The new mode will allow players to continue beyond the original “ending” into a new and exciting chapter of the game's story. Greetings Oxenfree Community! Its been far too long since we last posted so lets do a quick rundown of some exciting things coming to Oxenfree on Steam! First up, we are very excited about the NewGame+ content coming to Steam on May 31. Its all new DLC content we are releasing to everyone for free! Without spoiling anything, this new content will continue Alex’s story will continue beyond the traditional “ending” into different locations, conclusions, and a completely tweaked understanding of the events on the island. Can't wait to see all of the new discussions and theories everyone comes up with after playing. Some of you may know this already, but we have added Steam Trading Cards to the game as well. The more you play the game, the more cards you'll unlock. Collect all 5, and you can unlock some cool rewards like Oxenfree themed backgrounds and emoticons. Finally, for those of you interested in catching up on the Oxenfree's ARG (Augmented Reality Game), some truly amazing community members have been collaborating on the game's Reddit page here and even put together a comprehensive document here detailing all the clues thus far.
