Visit us at GenkiCon 2018

Hello all. As per tradition, I am putting up a little booth at the Danish convention Genki in the beginning of August. It will be all about showing off our games, talking to gamers from all walks of life, and answering any questions you might have. We are also giving away free Steam codes, tshirts and other nifty stuff. If you pass on by, don't be afraid to come and say hi. We will be located in the main gameroom area in expo hall 3. Take care, and hope to see you there :) / Gecko the Dev

Aaaaaallmost there

We are currently getting everything ready for the second case file "The Horrors of Hospitality", but need to polish up some bits and bobs, before we can confidently press the button and put it live. I hope to be able to put it up for play within the next 48 hours. As for now, here are the FOUR new faces you will need to familiarize yourself with. There are still three variations, so one of these characters are spared being the murderer.

Transcripts of Murder

Hi all, it's been some busy days, but the game has been vastly improved over the last week, especially with the help of you guys :) Here is the feature list since last time: - Fixed some bugs that caused the variations to "bleed" together. - Fixed even more typos. - Added over 400 lines of dialogue and replies. - Transcript feature keeps track of all replies by the suspects. - Added a case-insensitive search bar to the transcript page. We are also working on episode 2, to have it ready for the deadline :)

Day 4 : All games must patch!

Ah, the days are rolling fast, and my fingers are aching from integrating all these lovely suggestions. Here is a bunch of features implemented since yesterday: - The suggestion system has been greatly improved, especially on the backend side. - A "Thank you" screen has been designed, telling supporters when their suggestions have been implemented in the game. - Optimized Case load time. - Much needed spam/trolling defense on suggestions implemented. - You can now hold down Shift to prevent words going black, designed mostly for suggestors. - Successful suggestors are treated to a happy song when they log into a patch containing their suggestions. - Added 3.000 lines of dialogue! 40% of it directly from player suggestions. - Work on Chapter two is well underway. - Fixed some scaling issues for rectangular displays. - Fixed weird anti-aliasing issue on some retina macbooks. - Fixed even more typos. - Fixed some unintentional inconsistancies in some story archs. - Fixed bug that would cause Red to completely ignore all user input. - Added "cooling" effects, allowing certain sentences to reduce the breaking levels of the suspects. - Fixed bug that could cause the camera to get stuck behind the suspects head. - Fixed bug that would cause the police to talk with Mrs. Blue's voice. - Added references to Auburn and Turquoise, characters from Episode 2 and 3. That's all I got in the bag for today's patch. Tomorrow its going to be all about adding new features to help detectives keep track of statements, and better point out controversial/conflicting statements.

Day 3 : Patch me outside!

Since the weather is absolutely boiling today, I'm sitting mostly outside today, writing dialogue and fixing bugs. Here is the product of the day 3 harvest: - Players can now type in parts of words, or type in the sentences they want, instead of having to look for the button. - Added a whole lot of dialogue options. A lot-lot. - Moved corkboard drawer key to the Tab key. - The game will now run in the background, so alt-tabbing out and back in works. - Adjustable text speed can be set in the settings menu. - Adjustable UI scaling can be set in the settings menu. - Improved support for Discord overlay. - Improved support for Twitch overlay. - Optimized casefile load speed. - Improved suggestion flow, allowing for smoother expansions to the dialogue trees. - Some previously broken achievements now work again. - Name word blocks and "I" are now uppercase. - Cleaned up a lot of typos. - Installed tool to better catch future typos. We also implemented over 100 user-submitted suggestions. Thank you so much for everyone submitted, will do a Hall of Heroes list in the next update, so your glory will never be forgotten. Take care, and see you tomorrow for another update.

Day 2 : Even more patchery

Hello all. It's been quite a bumpy ride with some weird bugs making the experience quite frustrating for many, but I'm glad to report that I have fixed a whole lot of bugs so far, and are today working on making more branched routes to get to the bottom of this thing. Each variation now has 3 ways of getting the final evidence, instead of just one. Also, the client has been updated with the following improvements: - Fixed scaling issues with word blocks, so they scale down if there are too many for the screen to show. - You can now say sentences that may not be unlocked yet, if you combine the right words. This will unlock any words previously needed to get there. - Fixed another bucketload of typos. - Certain dialogues now correctly trigger certain emotions in Mrs Blue. - Bug that caused word buttons to appear "mid air" has been fixed. - Fixed bug that could lead you to be stuck on a wrong arrest. - Added new soundtrack for the game over screen. - Upped emotional breaking points from 10 to 12. - Fixed bug that sometimes would gray out words you actually needed. Will be making another patch later today, with more story-stuff and features.

Obligatory day one patch

Hello all. So, we survived the first 24 hours of the game launch, and we have gotten a ton of juicy feedback from you all. Let me start off by saying, I absolutely appreciate and love the responses and critiques we've had. I promise you I will find the time to read through and reply to it all, and of course take all things into consideration. I posted a small patch today, with the following tweaks: - The Backspace key now (successfully) removes the last word in the sentence. - The Delete key now flushes the entire sentence. - Fixed loops where the AI would just repeat itself constantly. - Tweaked some contradicting responses. - The lingo processor is now a bit more accepting of incoming phrases, meaning that you can now reach a successful answer with a LOT more combinations. - Fixed a bug where the game would sometimes not save progress properly. - Fixed a ton of typos. Also a great thanks to everyone submitting suggestions to missing sentences through the in-game menu. I will put it up and process it when I figure out a good way to do that. That's all for me today, back to the writing desk for me.

We are LIVE! :D

So, the game is now finally available for purchase here on steam, and it makes me ever so happy. We tweaked up a couple of things in the last update, that landed just a couple of hours ago: - Better handling of word blocks. - Suspects no longer repeats their introductionary dialogue. - Toggle fullscreen/windowed mode in settings. - Windowed mode is now scalable. - Future episodes listed in case select. - Fixed a lot of broken dialogue options. - Installed the last achievements. - Toggled Variation C for everyone. I will still tweak and polish the game client, while the cases are being finished up. So feel free to write me or in the boards, if you spot any sharp corners or bugs that needs handling.

Tweaks, turns and taxes

So, the third variation of the Porcelain Paradox is almost done, and in the meantime variation A and B has been polished up, and the game in general has too.

  • Reworked the word mini game.
  • Gave the word portion of the game its own "drawer".
  • Installed different soundtrack.
  • Fixed a bucketload of typos.
  • Optimized framerate for slower PCs.
We are also working on some suggestion tools to better expand the game and the story as a whole. We will hopefully open up the first episode to the public next monday, and then start working on episode 2 from there.

The Porcelain Paradox - Variation B ready for testing

The second variation of episode 1 : The Porcelain Paradox, is now ready for testing. This means you can play through the whole thing, and catch the killer. Suspect responses, method of murder and the timeline of the murder have been altered, so its recommended to pay close attention to the changes, so you don't blindly re-arrast the wrong person. Work on Variation 3 is half-way done, and will be done a day before game launch. After that, the brainstorming for Episode 2 will begin, which will be out in June. Thanks to everyone for following this project so far, and hope you enjoy the new episode. If you spot some line you feel is missing, dont hesitate to activate the Suggestion system by hitting F2. This enables you to send suggestions to dialogue options directly to us, and we will figure out a way to implement them as fast as we can.
