Drift Stage. Steam Early Access Launch, 2023 Review.

Welcome to the Summer 2024 "Drift Stage" overview. The nature of this announcement serves as a follow-up and update on the development status of Drift Stage, and as well as a preamble for the announced "Steam Community Content" update. The mixture of circumstances and previous delays; combined with a demand far exceeding the capacity of "Super Systems" as a studio - made for a very unpredictable and challenging launch. Despite the necessity for an unannounced, unadvertised release - in January of 2023, Drift Stage's reception and interest far exceeded any internal predictions or metrics. For the first time since 2016, Drift Stage's Early Access release announcement saw engagements of over 100K people. That's more than any trailer, demo build, or soundtrack release since the original video that launched the project in 2014.

2023 Publishing Talks & Reception.

One of the main goals of this delayed "Early Access" release - somewhat of a contradiction in itself; was, and continues to be - seeking a publisher to pick-up development and bring the resources required to complete Drift Stage, and bring the Steam version to a releasable state - where the fundamental issues of production funding and lack of a marketable "game" vs. a unfinished prototype - are solved. Talks stemming from January of 2023, all the way through to November of 2023 - almost met these goals - and the final decision not to move forward was due to the same issues that lead "Drift Stage" to such a delayed and rocky development - since 2019. A signature required on a document - allowing for the legal transfer of the games Source code, to the interested publisher - could not be obtained; not without undue effort - and not in time to fit the game into the time window required. This process was time consuming, resource intensive, and costly; and should have - under any other circumstance - allowed for "Drift Stage" to be acquired and finished by a professional team - with a budget. With that stated - the document issue has been dealt with - and any future publishing opportunities can move forward.

2024 - Steam Community Content Update.

In the interest of providing new content, and requested features while new software updates or publishing opportunities are not available; "Super Systems Softworks" has prepared a set of "Steam Trading Cards" and their accompanying "Community Features". Series "Zero" contains seven unique trading cards, with the chance to unlock Profile Backgrounds, Steam Chat Emoticons, and Profile Badges - each with their own rarity and drop rate. Please look forward to an announcement [very soon]; as this fresh content has just been cleared for release.

New Official Drift Stage Website and URL.

Drift Stage's website has been relaunched, compromising of a new platform specifically built for Drift Stage. This user focused design acts as an archive and central hub for Drift Stage's previous demo builds - media assets - and videos. Potential for development of new updates and expansions on this platform will continue into 2024.

Outstanding questions, new customers - a new era.

To clarify any confusion regarding Drift Stage's development status, this testing build of "Drift Stage" was left unreleased since late 2019 - due to internal conflicts with Drift Stage's only programmer leaving the project unannounced. These same problems prevented the aforementioned publishing agreement in 2023 from finalizing. I apologies for the continued issues with the original development team. Their actions towards Drift Stage are out of my hands and have contributed to years of set-backs for the project as a whole, and operating "Super Systems" as a studio. With that stated, and already known by most of Drift Stage's fans and player-base - I would like to move on to the current and relevant topics of this project - as any updates to the current version of Drift Stage is dependent on acquiring a publishing deal - with the resources to finish and maintain the project and IP - or hiring a skilled programmer, willing to put in the effort to independently finish and deliver Drift Stage.

Thank you for your attention. This announcement is to inform you of the public release of "Drift Stage v0.4.1192.4641". This build was originally intended only for internal testing, meaning it does not represent a complete project and should still be taken as a proof of concept. Please review the user manual .pdf on the store page for a known bug list for this version. For current bug reporting and fixes, please see the forums. https://store.steampowered.com/app/349470 This version of Drift Stage was archived after multiple internal partner issues in 2018, and was left with no programmer - long after setting and announcing an internal release date. Between 2019 to 2022, efforts were made to find a publisher and programmer, with multiple studios assisting in reviewing the games code. In late 2020, it became evident that the complication created by the exit of the former team members made any collaboration impossible. This has been the reason for the games lack of news. So in an effort to continue the project, based on many requests - we've decided to move the game into Early Access, now that its possible.

I've tried to address everyone's questions from the comments and forums with this statement.

• If you have a testing key, your keys should automatically convert to the new "Early Access" version. There have been no updates to the development build however, so you will not see any new version numbers on your title screen.
• If you have a soundtrack bundle key, you should now have access to the new stand-alone soundtrack. The soundtrack package was converted from the old DLC based setup, so look for it in your soundtrack library.
• If you have a key, but it wont work on Steam, or wont update to version "0.4.1192.4641", please leave a comment on the forums so I can replace your key. Any keys purchased during the crowd funding period should all be active and update to the currently release version.
• If you have a key, but lost it - please leave a comment so I can contact you. All keys are tied to an account email address.
• If you have a per-purchase key, you should finally have access to the testing build.
• If you have a pricing concern, please comment on the forum, all prices were based on current exchange rates and Valve recommendations.

In preparation for a public release of "Drift Stage" version 0.4.1192.4641, multiple changes have been made to the "Drift Stage" Store, Library, Community, and DLC pages. Notice of updates: 01/10/2023

• A three page quick reference manual is now accessible via the "Drift Stage" store page (.pdf).
• All placeholder assets and default layout images, avatars, logos, screenshots, text, and icons have been updated or replaced with new content - meeting current Steam feature and guideline standards.
• Migration of bare-bones DLC based soundtrack package to full Steam support with corresponding page and available formats + high resolution cover art. If you already have the soundtrack as part of your key bundle - you will automatically own the migrated soundtrack.
• Addition of five(5) exclusive Steam avatars - available in your "Profile Settings" under "Your Avatars".
• Incorrectly configured Steamworks settings were preventing Steamworks content from loading into the game. This has been fixed, allowing all community skins to load directly into the car select menu.
