We've updated the German language localization. We fixed an Autosave bug that sometimes created multiple Autosave files.
Thanks to a massive effort by Fabian Wiescher, you can now play Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption "auf Deutsch" in the German language.
Bring up Settings, then Language, and select Deutsch.

Were releasing a new update to fix the Equipment screen and Mac saved game index!
Weve released version 2.1 with numerous bug fixes and improvements. The game is now fully translated and playable in French, with a German translation in the works. The Mac version is notarized and now playable in Mac OS 10.15 (Catalina).
If you see any further issues, let us know on our Discord server or contact us at support@hero-u.net with a description of the bug.
We've updated the Beta test version of Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption with a candidate for version 1.6. In your Steam library, right-click the game name, select Properties, then the BETAS tab, then "beta - Build Candidate". No access code is required.
This build contains several new options under the Settings menu. There are additional options for unusual screen resolutions.
There is also a Languages tab. We are currently testing the French language localization. We also have a partially complete Simplified Chinese version. To change languages, click on the arrow next to your current language until the display changes to the language you want to use.
The Super Gluey is now active. It will hold even large monsters in place for much longer than an ordinary Gooey. It should even be usable as a puzzle solution on a particularly large and heavy monster. Let us know whether the Super Gluey lives up to your expectations.
Corey and Lori Cole are doing a livestream tonight (May 4, 2019) on YouTube starting at 6 pm PDT (3 a.m. UTC on May 5) and ending at midnight (9 a.m. UTC). Corey and Lori will play partway through Quest for Glory III: Wages of War (aka Seekers of the Lost City) and answer questions. Roberta Vaughan is hosting and will be running contests and giving away several amazing prizes donated by Himalaya Studios, artists, and the Coles.
The stream is supposed to be at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJLMIcRLZWw. If you don't find it there, find the Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption channel on YouTube and look for the livestream there. We'll also be saving the entire livestream as a video so you can watch it later. Subscribe to the channel to keep up with all of our YouTube content posts.
While you're at it, subscribe to our Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/TheSchoolForHeroes/ - to keep up with Hero-U projects including next year's Summer Daze at Hero-U.
We've also created a Discord server for discussion of our games and related topics. Join us at https://discord.gg/Z7dp47M. This will be our main discussion forum in the future.
Finally, after many requests, Corey and Lori have set up a Patreon page for fans who would like to help us afford to continue making games. We'll be posting a lot of unique content there including comics and articles from our 1980's fantasy gaming newsletter, The Spell Book. We'll also include articles from Corey and Lori's Quest Blog on the original School for Heroes website as well as new articles, artwork, and art photography.
The Patreon page is https://www.patreon.com/coreyloricole . Our tiers are $2/month, which will get you most of the Patreon material and access to a special Discord channel for patrons, and $10/month, which will also include a new desktop wallpaper each month and occasional special rewards.
We've updated Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption with several "quality of life" improvements along with dozens of game tweaks (mostly audio, along with a "final" fix to the long-troublesome Katie quest chain) to reported issues. Steam will automatically give you the new update when you play the game.
The biggest changes are in the Settings page - now also available from the main menu. A much-requested feature is the ability to speed up character (including monsters and other non-player characters) in the game. If you like a faster pace, this feature is for you. Character animation might look a bit strange at higher speeds.
Also added to settings are options for switching between full screen and windowed mode and some other options for the adventurous.
"Done" items in the Journal To Do list now show the most recently completed ones on top so you don't have to page to the end to see your progress.
Deleting game saves now works better.
The Boss Wraith battle is now slightly more challenging with the Wraith's ability to summon monsters to help him. The well-prepared player will still get through it just fine, but it's no longer a pushover.
Speaking of bosses, we've decided to make the Rogue to Redemption Bestiary a free download! This is a beautiful art book PDF with all of the Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption monsters and a few strategy tips. For now, click on "View the quick reference" on our store page to download it. We will make it available as Free DLC soon.
Also coming soon to https://www.hero-u.com will be a free interactive Hint and Strategy Guide. We're making it a web page so that we can update it easily with new and improved hints.
We've pushed a small patch to the "beta" channel. If you would like to check out the latest version of Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption, right-click on the game name, select Properties, the BETAS tab, and click on "beta - Build Candidate". Leave the beta access code box blank. We are not expecting any issues with this patch, but no one expects the Spanish Inquisition! Please let us know if you find any problems. Otherwise, we'll replace the "live" branch with this version next week. Fixes include:

We've pushed a major update we're calling "Patch 1." Through the magic of Steam, all players will automatically get it. Anyone who switched to the beta version of the game to help us test this patch - currently it's the same as default/Live, but if you don't feel adventurous, you might want to "opt out of all betas" for now. That way you won't be surprised by a future update. The major reason for this patch is to fix a problem some players have experienced with Shawn's movement being "wonky." He would appear to walk in place, then rapidly move a short distance, then walk in place again. We previously suggested a work-around involving setting monitors to 60 Hz and/or disabling GSync. Those work-arounds should no longer be necessary. However, that is far from the only update. We have fixed dozens of bugs and exploits (leaving a few in for fun). We've also made a number of small corrections to graphics and text. Per player request, we have slowed the passage of time while moving by about one-third. Actions still take the same amount of time, and time is an important and limited game resource. Known bugs/issues: 1. It has been reported that the Bossa Nova achievement is impossible. We'll look into that and make sure it is fixed in the next patch. 2. The cinematics are still somewhat choppy and not up to the standard of the rest of the game. We're working on upgrading to a newer version of Unity that should allow us to improve movie quality. 3. There are a few minor graphics issues we haven't yet addressed. We'll continue to fix those, plus typos, etc. in future patches.
The initial game reception has been very positive, for which we are happy and grateful. Still, one of the nice things about the digital era is that we always have a chance to fix, tune, and refine the game. The first released version has one major issue that only affects some players, but is our top priority currently. That has to do with Shawn not walking properly; he appears to walk in place or close to it. A suggested work-around is to set your monitor to 60 Hz. We're working on a more general solution that will not require players to change their settings. As soon as that's tested, we will release our first patch. We've also increased walking and sneaking speed by 10%, and reduced the rate at which time passes while moving. These are small improvements to the game "quality of life" that several players have requested. Running speed will stay the same. Several players have spotted that the game locks up when interacting with a plaque dedicated to the Paladin Pyoter. We fixed this before the game was released, but that small change would have delayed release by two weeks for testing and approval, so that will be in the first patch instead. The Journal has been hard to read because of the "script" font we used for flavor. We are changing it to an easier-to-read font that still gives the impression of a handwritten journal. There are some issues with Achievements. A few were impossible or extremely difficult to achieve. Some will still be very challenging, but we've fixed the broken ones. We're adding Steam Trading Cards. You will get a random card (out of a set of eight) after about one hour of play. All of the students and one famous creature are included. Faculty and staff might make it into a future set. We've also fixed a number of small issues reported by players or found by the team - typographical errors, repeatable actions that should be once-only, and so on. We'll continue to do that sort of tuning with every patch. Thank you to everyone who is helping to improve the game by posting on the forums, and to all of you for playing and supporting the game.
