Mega Patch 2.0.0 is now in Beta. It covers all core and optional game content. The original post stated the patch would be out in a few days, but I underestimated the scope of the patch. The patch has been three weeks work. The Mega Patch now fixes nine game crashes and softlocks (up from the six previously reported), the number of bugs fixed has tripled, and the Mega Patch now adds new content as well! I've also added a number of quality of life improvements, for example, bracer and shield descriptions now include (previously hidden) block rate and damage reduction stats. I'm excited to tell you all the details, but I'm trying to save the big reveals for the patch release. Wear a mask, and stay safe.
So, I've been playing through the latest revision of Vale of Myth to gather footage for a new trailer in time for the summer. In doing so, I have noticed to my horror that many bugs are present in the game. When restoring the game files from SVN in order to address the NW.js driver crash issue, it seems that the code in the SVN was not up-to-date. Long story short, the mega patch will bring Vale of Myth from 1.4.0 to 2.0.0. It fixes six game crashes, fixes pages of bugs of all severity levels, and overhauls the random enemy encounters to be much more varied. Mr. S. will now have a unique battle appearance matching his face set, and several quality of life improvements are being added as well. The mega patch will be out in the next few days. It's been six day's work so far, and I'm looking forward to really cleaning things up. Wear a mask, and stay safe.
With the public encouraged to stay at home because of the Coronavirus, we want to do our part to help keep you entertained. Vale of Myth is 90% off until the end of the Steam Summer Sale (the max discount I can provide). While things are starting to reopen, people are still isolating at home most of the time. While this is a small thing, I hope it helps.

Vale of Myth is now 90% off over the next 14 days (the max discount and duration I can provide). After the six week limit between discounts passes, I am intending to repeat the discount cycle for the duration of social isolation. While this is a small thing, I hope it helps.
Hey everyone, for those annoyed by the placeholder images, Vale of Myth is now using proper art for the new collection system.
Hey everyone, the OST, Strategy Guide, 1.4.0 release AND the Gaia bundle will all be live tomorrow morning. The Gaia bundle contains the full game, and all DLC to date for one low price. Some promised content for the anniversary did not make the deadline - I'm still working on the bonus dungeons and investigating a Linux release. The bonus dungeon content will be released for free. Features in 1.4.0: *The Temporal Rift is now available. It can be accessed through one of roughly a dozen different rift gates. *Damage number readability has been improved *Critical hits and multiple hit damage are now more visible *A WEAK popup now appears when hitting an enemy weakness *Enemy weaknesses are now tracked and shown for players during battle *The Stalwart achievement now activates properly in-game (a mis-capitalization caused it not to activate) *Sectioned health bars are removed *A number of typos (including some consistent ones) have all been corrected *The Venice Armory is now properly referred to as The Venice Arsenal. *A few missing context popups have been corrected *Low-contrast versions of the UI have been added in preparation for a low-contrast accessibility option. *A bug with a mismatch between node.js and greenworks versions has been corrected. This last point may fix the issue some players have reported of being unable to launch the game. I will be continuing to look into the matter.
Hey Everyone, The Gaea Edition, OST, and Strategy Guide are complete and ready for release on Tuesday. Unfortunately, I won't be able to release the bonus dungeons at that time. They are still on the way, of course, and I've added in some new scripts to help battle be more engaging and easy to use. Life has gotten a little out of hand lately, and I apologize for the delays. Just to be extra clear, the bonus content is and will be free of charge for all players.
It is with a conflicted heart that I have to amend the one anniversary release for Vale of Myth. I will not be able to ship the OS X and Linux editions on time. I’ve needed to make room for the rest of my career, and fixing a rare bug in the windows release has kept me busy. The Gaea Bundle, OST and Strategy Guide, along with other promised features are still planned for release on October 22. It is my intent to still release OS X and Linux builds, time allowing, I just don’t have the time to release them before the 22nd. Some of you may be wondering why I skip fixing the bug - since the windows, OSX and Linux versions all use the same basic structure, it is likely the same bug may appear in the OSX an Linux builds as well. Getting it fixed first means smoother OSX and Linux releases later.
Hey everyone, I just wanted to give a heads-up that I'll be heading on Vacation - my first vacation in a decade, in fact, and during that time I unfortunately won't be able to answer emails, comments, discussion posts, or messages. Once I return, I will resume all duties in full, of course! I will be away from July 4th, to July 18th, inclusive. I'll ask a friend to keep an eye on the forums and respond to what he can. Thank you all, and have a wonderful two weeks!
Originally we had hoped to run a contest that would reward players for taking time to review the game. Because so many games compete for player's time, we felt a reward would encourage players to leave reviews. The intent was to create an ethical reward that would not encourage undue bias. We discussed the matter in detail with the Sentinels of the Store, as we are friendly with them, and we know they've seen all kinds of practices. The discussion helped us to see the contest in a new light. After spirited discussion, we came to an agreement that it just isn't possible to offer an ethical review contest. It causes a similar issue to observation bias - that is to say, if people know they are being observed (or in this case, being rewarded), it will affect their behaviour - and they may not be aware that their behaviour has changed. It is an imperative for me to run Res Judicata and its community with respect, dignity, ethicality and honesty. With that imperative in mind, the best thing for me to do is to cancel the contest. But fear not! The Anniversary Release is still on, and there's a lot of cool new features and content coming.
Hey everyone, the one year release of Vale of Myth happens in mid October. To celebrate, and to thank all the players out there, I'd like to make the anniversary a big event. Introducing, the One Year Anniversary Release! *Linux and OS-X releases of Vale of Myth (both demo and full versions)! *Gaea Bundle Release (game + all DLC for one low price)! *Strategy Guide DLC Release! *OST DLC Release (Steam, iTunes, Google App Store, Spotify, etc.)! *Humble Bundle Release! *Patch 2.0.0! And New Game Features! *Game now supports version 4.5.2 of Pixi.js! *New achievements! *Major plugin updates! *New dungeons and new bosses! *New secret locations! *Entirely new (and more friendly) user options menu! *Armor hit noises play when striking enemies and being struck! *AI Improvements! To celebrate, I'm also announcing a contest! I'll be creating a new forum topic where players can make feature suggestions for the upcoming release, and there will be a contest created in the next week with free copies of the Strategy Guide and OST up for grabs! Please keep tuned.
I'm very happy to announce that Vale of Myth has shattered 750 downloads. Thank you to each of you for your part in making this happen. If you have any feedback to give - positive or negative - please post in the forums, or if you don't feel comfortable doing that, you can message me. The Strategy Guide is still in the works - the two separate documents have been combined into one, all the suggestions and corrections from our editor have been incorporated. A number of smaller changes are being added to make the document more readable and to reduce total page count. Version 1.3.0 is also in development! A number of smaller changes are planned, some options, and some larger features are in the pipe. Cheers!
Vale of Myth v1.2.0 is now up, and it brings several popularly requested features:
* Battle Animation Speed option - battle animations can now be sped up from 1x to 4x of normal speed.
* New Garbhan appearance - Garbhan's look is now updated to reflect his kilt appearance in game illustrations. Charsets, battler, and facesets are all changed to the new appearance.
* Added price variance for most shop items
* Fixed some rare crashes
* Added Treatices for Reapers, Mana, and Spirits to bookcases in the game
* Quest and autosave support overhauled for all of Golgotha

I hope you enjoy the changes! It took a while to put this all together.

The 1.1.0 build has just gone live. Here's some of the eagerly desired changes: *Ame Morte (Eve joins the party) slow down has been fixed. The performance boost took things from 3 FPS to 60 FPS. This fix will work with old save games. *The Lion Battle - it is now possible to defeat The Lion on the Ame Morte! A mini-scene and achievement have been added for doing so. Congratulations, casazampieri! -New images; two new difficulty images at game start, and a new game illustration for the late game! -Terms have been adjusted - some did not fit in term window. Garbhan will be receiving a visual redesign of his charsets and battler to better reflect his illustrated form in v1.1.1. Have you achieved something crazy difficult? Let us know in the forums, and we might make an achievement in your honor!
Hey everyone! I want to give a quick shout out and thanks to everyone who has downloaded the Vale of Myth demo. We just broke 500 downloads today! I hope all of you are enjoying the experience. Thank you so much for your support. For those curious, yes, the strategy guide is still in the works. Unfortunately, I have been sick for two months straight and so progress has been slow.
I'm pleased to say that Res Judicata: Vale of Myth has received its first official review by gamempire.it (an Italian game news and reviews site)! Mr. Massimo gave Vale of Myth a very positive review, in particular pointing to the Campsite and Cross-Training game features. He also provided some excellent feedback, and we're looking into addressing as much of that feedback as possible. We'd love to receive more input and reviews, so if you know anyone, please introduce us! One element he found disagreeable is Garbhan's non-kilted look in-game. We agree with him, and want to get this sorted out - Garbhan was intended to wear the kilt, but due to MV's tiny character size, its proven very difficult to actually make his kilt; a) visible, and b) visually coherent. Ironically, we had a fully kilted Garbhan charset for RMXP, as we had more room to add that detail in place. At the very least, we intend to correct Garbhan's battler and faceset (the latter depending on finding an artist). Mr. Massimo's review is linked in the Reviews section of our Steam store page. For those of you (like myself) who sadly, are not skilled with Italian, you can run the review URL through Google Translate or a similar translation service. The translation definitely isn't perfect, but it gives a good idea of the general direction of the review. It's strange to read some of the criticism we've received, as when we began development of our game, there were almost no RPGMaker games on Steam, Greenlight was our expected onboarding process, Shovel Knight was yet to be a thing, FFXV wasn't on the horizon and games like Ara Fell had gone dark so long we sadly assumed they were left unfinished. We kept an eye on the changing gaming world, but in order to have secured a better market position, we would have had to ship an incomplete product - and I wasn't willing to do that.
Hey everyone! I want to give a quick shout out and thanks to everyone who has downloaded the Vale of Myth demo. We just broke 400 downloads this morning! I hope all of you are enjoying the experience. Thank you so much for your support.
Hey everyone, a new patch is out (mostly with minor fixes). It should make the player experience just a little bit better. Change Log: *Fixed Culebre Enrage frequency. *Fixed typo in credits (Sorry Darren Curtis!) *Fixed font on Damage numbers *Fixed Challenge icon to reduce icon repetition. *Fixed Inner Strength icon. *Fixed Spirit Purge icon. *Fixed Evil Eye icon. *Fixed Cleave icon. *Fixed Siegfried Shieldwall icon. *Fixed Siegfried Pommel Strike icon.
This patch fixes a bunch of game icons, and fixes some sticking points. *Lots of skill icon changes to make them easier to understand. *The east side of the mines can now be entered and explored as players had previously requested. *The minecart now gets stuck after carrying the player out of the mine the first time. *The hole where the player fell down in B3 is now visible afterwards and can be jumped over. *A rope shortcut is added in mines B3. Activating it takes you down to B4 pit (previously inaccessible after the player falls down into it). The rope can also be taken back UP to B3. I'm considering expanding the east side of the mines in a future patch as an optional dungeon.
Hey everyone, store screenshots are now updated with the new font. Some additional shots have also been added. With this done, I now get to redo the Gameplay trailer. For some reason, the output resolution was much lower then it should have been. After redoing that trailer, I'll start collecting footage to make a second (and more traditional) release trailer. The initial trailer didn't quite have the effect I was intending; namely an appeal to the games story. It was also taken as being a summary of game features and characters, and it really didn't provide that. I'm also still working on the Strategy Guide. I'm starting with the Appendices first (because they are the most tedious to do). Key Item, Consumables, Weapon and Armor appendices are now done. I still need to do Keepsake, Relic, Element, Status Ailment, Equipment Type, Enemy, and Skill Appendices. The Guide will contain a full walkthrough (and walk-through of all optional content), a foreword, character and battle strategy guide, list of all World Events, table of contents and index. Appendices are included in a separate PDF, as I'm worried about computer document parsing costs (I'm expecting the DLC to be at least one hundred pages, Appendices excluded). Once again, please leave a review if you are able. It's a huge help and encouragement to continue adding content.
Version 1.0.7 has just come out with some highly anticipated features! NOTE: Players who wish to use the new font consistently need to start a new game. I'm sorry, but there appears to be something cached deep in the engine that does not register the font change in dialogue without starting over. *Font is now changed to "Love Is Complicated Again.ttf"! *Help and dash are now finally separate buttons. PgUp is now used for help. *Added a brightness variable (in Options) to increase brightness for those having difficulty seeing. *Exteriors at night are now brighter by 20%. *Many small fixes and improvements. Patch Notes: -Holy Water removed Stun instead of Fear. -Fixed Gaspacho typo -> Gazpacho -Fixed typos in food descriptions -Changed name of blowfish to Fugu. -Quicklime is now stronger than Greek Fire and costs more. -Fixed typo in Vertebrae Coat name -Fixed Leviathan's Scale description. -Keyboard bindings script now up to date -Gaea help reassigned to pageup. -Term window key is now reassigned to pageup. -No longer a key conflict with help and dash! -Updated version number -Help context icon now hidden by default -Added log speed support to LeNotifications.js -Log speed command now shows under gameplay menu. -Got Log speed working as a % but that isn't user friendly enough. Need enum support. -Added option to adjust speed at which log entries disappear -Added brightness configManager variable, it is added to ambient light value before application to scene. -Brightness function is working! Yay! -Doubled night exterior brightness. -Tweaked brightness function so it isn't quite as over-powering. -New font "Love is Complicated Again" chosen by vote of 1. -New font applied consistently in all plugin settings. -Contacted Love Is Complicated Again author for license to use her font. -Cleaned up font experiment mess. -Fixed default keys (keyboard) help -Fixed quest typo -Fixed quest typos and rearranged a few lines to fit text better. -Wesley is now loaded as a failsafe font -Decided it really was worse to go with a black font color -PgUp help now properly aligned again -Reverted Window color changes -Credited Misti Hammers for Love Is Complicated Again font. -Font purchased and license negotiated for use of Love Is Complicated Again font. -Font seems to stay within windows. I have not done a 100% check yet.
Please vote for Vale of Myth's new game font here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/670970/discussions/2/1489987634010135661/ There's been a lot of previous concern about the game's font. Community votes go a long way to providing a sense of security both for users and the developers in the final decision on the font. The vote closes at mid-night tonight (MST)! Please get your vote in before then.
Hey everyone, if you played Vale of Myth, please leave a review to help other gamers find this game. Reviews significantly boost Vale of Myth's visibility. To clarify my position: I cannot offer gifts or bonuses for posting reviews. But it would be great if Vale of Myth could have some reviews. If you are a family member, part of the dev team, or friend, you must declare this at the very start of your review. Disclosure is important!
Thank you everyone! Vale of Myth just had it's 300th demo download! I hope you all enjoy the game.
