Jammin' Rabbit Dev Update, New Project In the Works

It's been a little over a year since the release of American University Life ~Welcome Week!~ as well as my last announcement on what I would be working on in the future.

As a freelance writer I've been hopping around projects, my own and for other independent developers. This is irresponsible on my part since my last announcement talked about working on 74901 as well as making gradual progress on a fuller game of AUL.

The truth is I had been losing inspiration on both AUL and 74901. I didn't want to work on them half-heartedly and end up producing a lackluster visual novel. My search to find inspiration led me to other horizons.

In the past year, I was recruited by Tamaya Kagiya to work on an eroge genderbender visual novel titled I am Succubus as its main writer but that fell through. If anyone wants to follow up on that, you can check it out here .

What does this mean for AUL and 74901? I'm putting them off for now, and will return to them at a later date. I apologize to all the people who expressed interest in either games, as well as the artists who put so much work in such great designs. Though I am cutting back working on 74901, I plan to reveal the backgrounds and character design, including plot and backstory of those characters. This will be done in another post at a later date on my website.

During the time I worked on I am Succubus I did find inspiration, but not the kind that can be directed to 74901 and AUL. However, it is something that I have been working furiously on for the past few months, and have grown fond of as it comes to life.

This project draws a lot from Lovecraftian cosmic horror and will feature a host of alien god(desses). Without further adieu, this is These Cosmic Horrors Are Kind of Cute!

Can you guess who some of these are supposed to represent from their appearance?

AUL What to Expect from Jammin' Rabbit in the Future

Dear honored students of AUL!

I'm glad the visual novel is well-received so far. American University Life was originally supposed to be much longer, with plenty of choices and several routes. Unfortunately, game developers are often plagued with budget troubles, and this is especially true for indie developers. Which is why I had to cut my losses and work on a shorter, kinetic visual novel that turned out to be American University Life ~Welcome Week!~.

There are plans, and when I say plans I mean outlines, storyboards, and skeleton scripts, to a larger AUL game with choices and routes. Yes, that means spending more time with your favorite heroine, and getting the chance to date them! The sequel would follow the gang's first year at school. And, no. I don't mean all 365 days, but you know, typical visual novel style timeline progression. I'd like to include additional features, too, like a cellphone feature to interact with and such.

All this sounds fun and all, but from my end it is a very expensive journey to take. I'd like to apologize and say that hopes for AUL's sequel will take some time, so that I may work up the budget and work quality that is worth your time and money. I want to provide the best experience possible for those interested in playing AUL!

That said, in the time being I will be working on smaller projects to build an audience and widen my circle. My forte has always been shorter scripts since I studied theatre and film in college. I hope to use that to my advantage in working on my other projects.

And so, I give you a teaser to my next project. Bonnie Tadahashi is the main character of my next kinetic visual novel, 74901 (title WIP).

I'm also working on another short, kinetic visual novel about catboys, but that's not important right now.

There you have it. Jammin' Rabbit's first announcement. I hope everyone will continue to support me as a western visual novel developer.

Thank you so much!
