Dear DASHers. Today a new build is live. While there is only a few bug fixes and a nice new 'reversed' slope (basically an upside down slope to give new shapes to structures in levels) we are also introducing the first multiplayer mode in the DASHgame. But behold... you must be patient because there is still some way to go until the mode is all the way in the box!
Build 2007; Early Access; Steam:
- The currency and shop is still not available so players will not receive any gifts or medals yet.
- The mode in BUILD 2007 is strictly for testing server and game compatibility! As mentioned there is no reward or visible log screen where you can overview contestants, rewards and all-over score.
- You can't yet see your opponents. YET!! Our next priority (as soon as we can see that the server-to-game system is polished and properly look at by the DASHers and devs) is to include other players in your game screen on the levels. So you will see other players simultaneously on your screen.
- There are so many cool things we can do with this new mode!. Besides from fixing and bug-hunting we would love some intuitive responses from DASHers like "which things we would like to see and experience during this mode".
- Have you tried the Gameboy shader called "4 Colors" yet?
- The slope tiles can now be placed upside down, meaning that they are working on ceilings too. Help perfect the algorithm and report bugs or feedback (in our Discord server's #bug-reports is best but here is cool too [Discord invite: https://discord.gg/vtnHwVY) to the community forum.
We super excited for this next step as we are getting closer to real release! New people are joining the game these days, so it's the perfect timing to update with a new mode!
Come join our Discord if you haven't yet :D

During December '19 (me) Duka and my man Leary will develop the last part of the DASHgame with a goal to release the final premium game January 2020.
While we can't expose all details yet, the decision to work on competitive and multiplayer-focused designs is locked down. This is what all our production notes tell us, this is what you players tell us, and it is something that we ourselves ARE HUNGRY FOR!
The game's price and game-economy will change, therefore we are now seeing a window where we can distribute the game for a low price (much lower price than our first assumption) - and hopefully with this discount be able to fund some of the work Dec/Jan.
[previewyoutube=X7v9WaDV4N8;leftthumb]
https://youtu.be/X7v9WaDV4N8[/previewyoutube]
Without giving the full details, I can say as much as we have a very cool plan to be able to pipeline new players into the world, and avoid the scare of a fixed high price.

Hi DASHers! Welcome to a new update!
As you all know the Slope tile was implemented in last update. However some natural bugs and small errors have been spotted by the community of bug-hunters - most of them are now addressed. Let's find some more :D
- Fixed script causing large levels to slow down the game speed. This was implemented in update 2006 due to new auto-tile scripts in slope objects. Now fixed so large levels should run smooth on all computers.
- Fixed error when checking for slopes mask when a crate was on the top of a hill
- Fixed error causing the cursor to delete other objects when deleted a tile
- Fixed error when placing two slope tiles next to each other causing a wrong sprite to be drawn. Now its not possible to place two slope tiles facing one another. There must be a flat ground tile in between.
- Attempt to fix memory leak(s) possibly appearing when respawning, going to next or previous level during run mode. Should not happen anymore meaning the game should now be free from major leaks such as this one which has been proved especially by CraZeD during his long runs with hundreds of respawns. During a stress test I tried respawning > 200 times, and tried going to next level > 200 times. The test showed no leak and therefore did not crash. Let me know if happens to you?

BUILD 2006 IS LIVE ON STEAM!
The update is live and ready to be tested and expored!
It's DASH day again!
With this new update you can experience a new feeling in the editor. The slope tile (in all tilesets) will allow for corners to be smooth, cool ramps to be built and new ways to play with the enemies. The missile ammo is also more explosive now, making it more interesting in chaotic and action-based levels. Launch the game and get ready to create the levels that will Though it required over 72 hours of extra math, testing and puzzles I finally made everything come together in this epic build which is going to be a game changer: Slope tiles unlocked - make levels with new dynamics, flows and challenges!
- Slopes allow you to flow over hills Sonic style and polish your cave or alien ship hall with smooth edges
- Sploders slide down slopes. Let them have a ride!
This was a massive intervention in the basic physics etc. (you were right Buenaventura!). Yet everything is as solid as ever! It took some time to make the math for the auto-tiling of the slopes and there are still one or two errors left (can you find them!? XD). Because this is such a massive update, your help finding bugs and quirky matters is more needed than ever! - BD

DASHers of the world! A brand new build is live. Ready to satisfy your cravings for more pixelated tiles!
BUILD 2005 IS LIVE
- We lowered the price of the Early Access ticket! How about that!
- New crumbling platform integrated: make levels with tiles which disappear (crumble and vanish) to create complexity and danger!!
- New Bazooka ammo integrated! BOOM! (massive impact on crates and enemies! Destroys crumbling tiles too)
- More optimized projectile precision. Still not perfect but getting closer
- News tab in Main Menu upgraded to feature and display new stuff in all new builds
- Tournament option now in menu, despite the fact that you can't enter it yet. Werkin' on it
As mentioned the devs will not be integrating server-based design such as Tournament right now, because we have to focus on bumping up our budget which pulls us away from the desks, I hope you all will find this type of upgrade exciting and something worth trying out! Looking forward to more streams and levels!!! - BD

We have also run a vote for which tile to implement next Monday (19th of August), and the DASHers favored: The Crumbling Platform:
Place these fragile and tricky platforms in your levels to create new puzzles and precision challenges for the players! This tile will be live next Monday!
Weekly Challenge: We are working on a new competitive game mode which we hopefully will have up and running for Monday as well. GG! - The DASH Devs

This first patch to the Early Access build includes most important fixes which are major to the overall shape of the game. The collision and tile-placement error(s) are postponed for next patch:
- Fixed crash caused by overstacking memory due to not deleting sprite being stored in memory. The game would crash after the Pause Menu (opened to Respawn) being opened hundreds of time, stacking up memory each time without clearing it.
- You can now Respawn with one push on the controller: hit the back/share button (the little button left to the logo on the controller) to instantly respawn!
- Prevented cheat: before this patch player could load level, change the tiles, set a record and leave without saving making it possible to basically upload a level which is unbeatable. This bug was carefully figured out by @Doctor2B - Heres a challenge for you: if you can upload another unbeatable level (like the Box) we will keep it in the pool. If not.. it will be binned :gg: The challenge is on!!
- A new record on a level is now seen as a modification to that l level. So in order to keep any newly set records during a session you must now remember to Save Level before exiting in order to keep level up to date.
- The editor now only prompts you for Save option if there is any changes made. If not it closes without asking.
- Now shows Record Reset consistently every time you edit a level after a record is set
- Juiced up Main Menu: A little jelly effect as you toggle the options + new backgrounds
- EASTER EGGS for the DASH International: go find them yourself, I wont spoil em
- During some testing the level called GGRC_Sample by Arrrcee was deleted because of certain circumstances. Please reupload it if you are the creator!
- Toggle sound effect in Pause Menu now corrected to be exact (Thanks @crazed )
- Another careful observation by @doctor2b showed us that Duffie and Max Leap are equally fast on flat ground. Duffie is now set to be a little faster and Max Leap a little slower in runSpeed. It was a neat tweak and only defines their character even more.
- Change Hero in Pause Menu now called Hero Select
- Fixed crash caused by missing sprite index in the world record ghost object
GG! - Jake

Hey how is everyone?! :D
I'm Jakob aka Baby Duka and together with my mini team we launched our baby DASH: Danger Action Speed Heroes on Steam and Discord Store yesterday June 6! The game has received good praise (Most Anticipated game of 2018 on the IndieDB) and people are loving our new approach to the sports-platformer and maker genre. Speedrunners and creative gamers read on.
Check out a wild mashup of awesome streamers here https://youtu.be/KaZK4QdHL6c
I initially started working on the demo back late 2017 when I was living in Copenhagen and just wanted to make a game that I could test laying in my couch :D And now it has come all the way to the top of the Steam's Action, Indie, Linux and Early Access pages (top 6) and it is currently the only game on the Discord store of its kind: a competitive and creative 2D platformer with dope music!! WOW! July 2018 I teamed up with Phil and Concerned to make sure we had enough capacity to power up the community and game! It's been almost one year of intense community building, indie marketing and game developing. Three different offices, two broken controllers and a lot of new players!!!
If you would like to support our trio and DASH please visit the Steam page and buy a copy:

Build 2002 patch 5
Fixes and Implementations:
- Now displaying some info during load screen and pause menu to inform (new) players of features which may be further away in the experience, yet are interesting to put in mind
- Pause menus title and level description now has a background to make the header more visible/entact.
- Max Leaps sprite wasnt showing as a tile in the Alien theme during editor. Now hes back and beautiful
- The editor now remembers which tile you are using/building with as you enter and exit preview mode. You no longer have to shift through the tiles to get back to the one you were using as you pressed the preview button.
- The Best Rated filter is now improved and 100% correct. Before this build this playlist was showing some not always well rated levels
Release plan: Though things may change we are aiming to launch on Steam and Discord on Windows and Linux early June 2019! Which means we're not long from the big bang  :dashlogo: :duffiejump: :raiderjump: This week we did not finish the Discord integration, but due to the high priority it is we will finish up after moving office. Build 2002 Release candidate 04 May 10th 2019 Early Access Beta branch Fixes:
- Stopped goal tile from deleting the tile beneath it when deleting the goal tile
- Prevented game from crashing when beating record in while making a level
- Max Leap has a longer fire dash. His long ramp up time made his fire dash almost unfairly short
- Explosions smoke particles caused the game to drop frames. Now fixed by dividing the max number of particles with the number of explosions var debrisCnt = round(irandom_range(6,maxDebris)/explosioncount);
- World Record ghost (WR ghost) now set to ON by default
Implementations:
- Players clocks are now placed in the top with a slight transparency to try and see if it solves the issue with the clocks blocking the players view
- Larger collision masks when head-jumping, meaning its harder to die now. Making it less tedious to try and bounce on enemies
- Preventing player from pressing R as the end level sequence is on to prevent double restart response
- Game now pauses if gamepad is accidently disconnected
- Steam achievements! We have put down 13 basic challenges to get started on the achievement system (later the achievement system will be implemented in-game so that it is not depending on Steam)
- DASH World (formerly known as http://dashworld.babyduka.com) is now called https://dashworld.online . Make sure to update it if you have it bookmarked in your browser

Welcome to update 2002! The final one where we are testing pre-Early Access build in the community. This article summarizes the updates and reveals new implementations and fixes. Get ready for some DASHing!
Fixes and implementations:
- Worldwide leaderboards: See the Top 5 World Record holders and Top 5 creators, as well as your own position in the list
- Default playlists in Custom filter in Play Menu: Beginner Levels and Example List. To help new players learn about playlists and DASH World
- Updated Heroes menu: Amount of diamonds collected and WRs displayed relative to Hero
- Default motion is now Sprint instead of Walk, meaning the two mechanics have been swapped. You are now always running and when you hold Ctrl/Z/R1/RB you Walk. Walk can be used to sneak past sleeping enemies (only Sploders for now). Later a crumbling tile will be implemented where it will crumble faster if you are sprinting, so you will have to walk carefully over it otherwise you will fall through.
- Explanation in Play menu over level slots
- Difficulty added to level slot in Play menu (ex.: [Easy] or [Extreme])
- New particles: I took the time to get rid of all non-low-res particles so that all dust clouds, farts, fire and smoke clouds are spawned with a handmade sprite to fit the overall theme. Its amazing how a detail like this (which is so important) really ties everything together even more.
- Rich Presence: Make sure to add DASH to your games library in your Discord user settings! DASH now has Rich presence meaning that it will show Playing DASH: Danger Action Speed Heroes under your logo when you play the game
- New ghost/WR ghost polish: the ghosts are now more transparent as the player is closer and becomes up to 90% transparent as it gets further away from player. It finally feels good and not as if the ghost is in the way.
- Set directions of tiles: you are now able to adjust the starting direction of Slappers, Spitters, Slapbats (up and down too) and moving platforms.
- Polished player scoreboard design in Main menu: redesigned to indicate the data more clearly
- All in all we have done a lot to meet the feedback from build 2001, where players did not understand the diamond display. Several design features are implemented to help the understanding of the record system
- Confetti when celebrating level uploaded or new world record!
- Rating displayed in pause menu, so there is even more info on what you are playing
- New design with more graphics to support the power of the Play menu.
- Help in Editor: while working on a level, new players can easily learn the names of all individual tiles. A small text overlay appears at the bottom of the screen now.
- Short intro sequence
- Handling offline player
- Last animation touches
- New tile set
Much respect and appreciation to the community of DASHers! We're almost there! - The DASH Team, Copenhagen

Updates & Implementations
- Vertical levels: create tall vertical levels. New details to background layers added to this format to make it interesting.
- New load slot design: easily get to see which Heroes have made the levels and which records you have. Rating also displayed on load slots now.
- New display in main menu showing how many diamonds and world records you have

- Set the cam on the World Record ghost to watch the replay. Controls to do that displayed in Pause menu when selecting WR Ghost ON/OFF

- Editors Settings menu polished (still working on Water and Weather)
- Polished Settings menu (in main menu) with new option to change controls to different scheme: Choose between Controls Setting A and B now (especially for controllers where you want the buttons to be opposite of the default setup).
- New Gameboy-inspired-4-colors-only-shader. Select it in the Settings menu
- Terminal velocity set to 25 instead of 30 to make the fall of a player less fast when peaking vertical speed variable.
- Changed The Raiders diamond to blue instead of orange. Gave Duffie the orange (and yellowish) diamond instead.
- New yellow tile in Rooftops to spike things up!
- Polished backgrounds and extra layers. For some months the backgrounds have not been drawn properly, due to updated game engine (Game Maker 2.2.2) which handles backgrounds differently than the prior version (GM:S 1.x).
- Next week we are implementing the final new stuff. After that there will be no more *big* implementations until Early Access release 2019.
- From about a week from now, we are launching an intense campaign to get new streamers to play DASH! If you know (of) anyone who might be interested or know someone who would definitely love DASH, send us their contact!

2-11-2018
This is the final real update before 2019. Patches will be uploaded but no further implementations will happen for the rest of the year.
Changelog for build 253:
GAME:
- Introducing new Hero: **Max Leap** - one rabbit who never settled down

- Setting a lock on the new introduced implementations to encourage more gameplay
- Made head-jumping more precise

- Introducing new filter: Best Rating. Also moving the Alphabetical filter to the bottom placing the Best Rating levels in the top
- Made it so that every time you erase or place a tile the time file is erased. In order to avoid uploads of levels which can't be completed.
- Fixed a bug where you were unable to upload a level with a straight record (ie. 00:05.00)
- New default Worlds in the Play Menu (formerly known as the Run Menu)
- New Max Leap emojis on the Discord! (Join now for the best experience!)
DASH WORLD:
- New splash menu, bidding player welcome and showing featured news/content
- Introducing new Sharing option: Click the sharing logo next to the title of your World and receive a unique ID link. This link can be shared anywhere you like (the Discord, Twitch chat, Twitter etc).
If a player who is already logged into DASH World clicks the link, the World will be transferred to their unique DASH World account!
PR:
During the rest of November 2018 we will make a move once again to get people on board. During this period we will like to encourage you to make the ultimate Worlds and share them on the Discord. If you have made a cool World which is outstanding we will take and make it one of the default Worlds all players receive as they get the game in the future!
Thank you all alpha testers for being here and giving feedback. It has been a great piece of dev and the game has become far more than we could've imagined ourselves! THANK YOU and looking forward to 2019!
There will still be patches uploaded.

- Preventing player from pressing pause and opening pause menu during end level sequence
- Enemies become furious when being head-jumped (Furios= no fear of heights, walks faster, looks angry/furious!)
- Slappers slap crates with their tongue which destroys them when furious (metal crate takes three slaps)
- Spitters spit triple loogers which which destroy crates and fly faster :spitter: :spitter:
- Metal crates now animates a shaking motion when receiving impact from bullets and loogers :cratemetal:
- Pause screen should now scale and fit with the game window (also windowed)
- Pause Screen now displays level title, level creator, Controls and level description
- Updated Game Settings Menu: Set shader to "Oldschool" or "Clean (off)". Oldschool being a nice rgb offset which looks like old TV smudge, new controls legend in menu
- Game now saves your settings (for example if you turn down the music in the Settings Menu and close the game it will start with the music turned down the next time you run the game)
DASH WORLD:
- Up, down and delete now in line in lists
- Polished design
- Description now gray
- Add level-button underneath thumbnail (toggle levels while looking at thumbnails and easily one you like without having to go down in the list below to add it)
- Polished list system
- New rating column: 1-100 (1 = bad rating; 100 = good rating) Players rate levels (1 vote each which can be updated) from the game either during a level or when it is completed

Alpha build 251 is live. Let the client update the program and launch!
The new splash screen will tell you a bit about the new DASH World.
Introducing Worlds:
- When launching the new update you automatically are signed into DASH World (http://dashworld.babyduka.com)
- In DASH World you can create lists of levels - called *Worlds*
- A world consists of multiple levels in a series
- You can edit the lists on the site and finally see them in the game as you enter the Play menu (also referred to as Run menu)
- If you are not logged in through the game you will not be able to see our edit your lists
- Once you launch the game it only needs to log you in once as long as you keep your cookie in your browser. If you lose the cookie it will generate one automatically again, so everything should be smooth and painless
- A set of default Worlds is automatically in the game. These can be deleted, edited or updated in DASH World too
- In the Run Menu you will have an option to view custom Worlds or the default filters set by us
New Menu and UI Design:
- New Splash Screen design
- New Main Menu design
- New Hero Menu design - removed the Story tab
- New Menu and Level Name font
- Updated main title graphics in Main Menu and Run Menu
- New *action* text font (as you complete levels this text will appear)
Mechanics:
- The overall gravity for the game is now lowered by 0.1 - meaning that the Hero's fall speed is a little slower
- The creator now is the one to suggest a Special power up. Before it was the player who set his/her Special in the Story tab (which is now removed). You turn on a special power by snatching an Elemental stone.
- New Elemental Stone system instead of previous Special system: you can max carry 2 stones - for now we have the Blue stone (air) and the Red stone (fire) - you can either have 1 blue and 1 red, or 2 red, or 2 blue. Each blue stone gives you an extra dash and each red stone adds to your dash of fire (creating a wider ranger of fire). One red and one blue is double dash with dash of fire!
- New graphics to show the special power is on and to make more of the power's awesomeness
Upgrades & Fixes:
- Removed the "P" as the pause button and made Esc the global pause button. More intuitive and needs no legend to explain
- Fixed error in animation when dashing down. Before it would be off to either side with several pixels when dashing downward, making it look like the 'dash cloud' was next to the Hero instead of right behind the Hero
- Duffie has a new rubbery jump sound (after all he is half man half rubber duck)
- Hero's ammo now displayed relative to unique weapon during runs
Resetting user (locally):
- In order to test some new implementations and to get feedback on starting the game in this new state, we will reset all accounts so that local medals will be 0 and your level folder will be set as a new one. You still have the levels in the previous build folder and online if you uploaded it
- You still keep your world records online
New audio:
- New theme in Run Menu ("Get Ready For Runnin' by Baby Duka")
- New button SFXs in Run Menu
- New Special SFXs
Notes:
- Some levels might be strange to play with the new Special Power feature (triple dash)
- Gamepads still don't function 100% on Linux
- Large levels with over 300 tiles can take several minutes to compress and save on a medium computer
- Erasing the goal tile will in some cases remove an unwanted tile instead
- Walking enemies can strand licking the wall
- Erasing the goal tile will in some cases remove an unwanted tile instead
- Walking enemies can strand licking the wall
There are some surprises (which I won't mention here which I want you to discover yourself) in this build constructed especially to show our appreciation to the community of unstoppable DASHers!

Alpha build 250 p. 06
Friday 19.10.2018 we uploaded a patch including a new tweak on Heroes' current stat while also introducing a new one
We noticed that Cleo didn't have that many high scores and we figured it was because of her too all-around stats. Players didn't pick Cleo because she was too all around. We have now made her the fastest hero (Speed = 8/10) with a slightly weaker jump and a little more slidy! Cleo is now the speedy one with very small jumps and a bit more out of control.
(Cleo with new speedy style)
General:
Fixed the dash so that it is harder to "jerk" the dash when accidently fumbling w control.
Introducing a new Hero stat: The Dash Reflex stat
- So far all the Heroes have had a varied dash power (length of the dash) and one "ramp up" time period before the dash was triggered
- Now each hero has an individual so-called dash reflex meaning that each Hero takes each their time to load up for a dash (Cleo being the fastest to add to her personality as the speedy one! !)
- The Raider seemed to have too many advantages (though the stats are based on a matrix) so now she has the least dash reflex meaning she dashes the slowest yet furthest.
Next week will be super exciting!

Hello all level creators, speedrunners, platformer fans and all DASHers in general. Welcome! My name is Jake and I'm the solo-dev bringing this baby to life. I've been a developer for some years and this is my first major project.
DASH is designed to make you creative! To make you want more from the game and games in general. In DASH the world is open for you to design and create. The Early Access launch later this year will bring you a solid engine, a large catalogue of Heroes, blocksets and tools and hopefully a very very cool community too! This game will be nothing (and I repeat NOTHING) without you, so if you feel like jumping on this train, I suggest you do so. Go wishlist the game to make sure to get notified once the Early Access launch is live!
Since September 2017 I have been on a mission to create the ultimate pixelart 2D action/precision platformer creation tool (in short: a 2D action/precision platformer where you create your own levels and share them with the world!) I have come a long way and if you wish to really dig deep into the dev of DASH check out the devlog on the IndieDB! The game is fully compatible with the workshop and you will be able to download and upload user generated content. In fact... that's whta DASH is all about.
DASH alpha is currently being tested by the Test Team. If you wish to come along this very early journey please visit the DASH Discord!
Every Saturday Jake sums up the updates and fixes from the past week and shows off some gameplay. At 8pm GMT | 12pm GMT on Baby Duka's Twitch Channel! More streams will be coming as the dev intensifies so go follow to get notified!
The best way as an interested gamer to keep track of the dev is to join the Discord or visit the official website .
I'm very very glad you're here! Please know that.
