Land of the Crescent: Games from Trkiye aims to celebrate the versatility and hard work of Trkiyes video game development community over the last decades. Pawn of the Dead is a part of this event.
Ahmet Kamil Kele (lead developer of the game) will be playing it in a live Let's Play to celebrate this event. It will be broadcast in Steam and Aslan Game Studio's YouTube channel and Facebook page.
Pawn of the Dead will be a part of Steam's Remote Play Together Fest, which will be held during Feb 12-19.

Pawn of the Dead has a better gamepad support now. Issues about DualSense has been solved. At right upper corner, correct gamepad glyphs are shown. Gamepad can rumble, too!
Also, improvements on visuals, optimization are made and some minor bugs are fixed.
macOS Pawn of the Dead supports Silicon processors (M1, M2, etc.) natively now. It could already run on Macs with Silicon processors before, though, this update is about performance upgrade. Linux Pawn of the Dead's Linux port is built with IL2CPP backend, it was Mono before. And Vulkan works better (you can use -force-vulkan parameter to open the game with that). This update is about performance, as well. Windows build didn't need any change.
This patch provides full gamepad support for Pawn of the Dead. Also, we optimized the game more.
Now in Chapter 1, the game suggests you to restart the game if you lose an important piece.
We fixed a bug that used to prevent White side players from castling in Classical Chess mode.
Now Black Knights are created when your score reaches 100 in Queen vs Zombies mode

Your purpose is to prevent the undead reach the other side of the board. You have a magical ability this time. For every 7 undead you kill with your sword, you gain power to instantly destroy enemies in vertical, horizontal and diagonal positions.
In this patch, the random level generator mode provides you a level instantly. We have pre-generated hundreds of levels for you. We will continue generating more levels in the future.

Now if you play Pawn of the Dead on Low or Very Low quality settings, some of the environment elements (like extra light sources) become invisible. So, you can play the game with a better performance at those settings.

We added some options that let you play the game with better optimization. You can turn on/off bloom and ambient occlusion now. Also, the game doesn't run in background anymore.

In our first patch after the release, we fixed the Chapter 3, Level 9. Genco Semen let me know that the level couldn't be passed at Hardcore difficulty. Now it can be passed at all the three difficulty modes.

This game has been a passion project for me. We have been working on Pawn of the Dead since 2013 (of course there were some side projects during the time, like Clown House), this game has been an important aspect of my life during this time. I always wanted to make a fantasy fiction game, supported by cinematics. I made the dream come true, while some sacrifices had to be made.

Town scenes (in-game and cutscene scenes) have better optimization. You will be able to get higher FPS at these scenes.
The counter you see while playing the campaign mode is changed. It used to show the whole time during the chapter. Now it shows only the level's time.
As the title explains, you can test the current version of Pawn of the Dead's campaign mode right now. We have a story with 64 levels, supported by cinematics.
Also, 4 new achievements are added. They are achieved at the ends of each chapters.
Story
Your mission as Leonard, the White King, is to protect the White Kingdom against the marching army of undead. Elona, the White Queen, is the best warrior in the kingdom, you wont be able to succeed without her help. During your quest, you will face a sinister reflection that you forgot a long time ago.

We updated Pawn of the Dead today.
New features
- The AI of the game is rewritten. Now the AI is able to predict your future moves, which means that the AI became harder. At this point, we are waiting for your feedback.
- We have 2 new musics for Graveyard and Town scenes. This means that each environment has its own theme.
- You can change the graphic quality, resolution and V-Sync from the game. Unity's own resolution screen is removed.
- When Black side loses, you can see Black King and Black Queen flee by teleporting, while the rest of the undead pieces die.

We keep working on Pawn of the Dead. I have two news. 1. Cinematics are almost completed. Turkish voice acting of Kings and revisions on some animations are all that are left. We published a video of Chapter 2's English cinematic to show you how our cinematics will be like. [previewyoutube=3CuFp8VA0Gg;full][/previewyoutube] 2. AI will be improved. Some players enjoyed the current version of AI. But some others (especially chess players) found it too weak. So I have decided to improve it, so that we can target chess players. Casual and Normal difficulty modes will remain the same, Hardcore difficulty mode will have Minimax and alpha-prunning algorithms. This means that the 64 levels of the campaign mode will need to be remade, because they must be beatable by the players when they play against the new AI. I am sorry that the game will be delayed because of the new AI, but I want to release the best that Pawn of the Dead can be on full release.

Pawn of the Dead is getting closer to full release.
We have a new environment, Gothic Ruins, and a new music for that environment. It's the second music composed by Uurcan Orun (who is also working for TaleWorlds) for Pawn of the Dead.
[previewyoutube=26zvPUuXYdg;leftthumb][/previewyoutube] We worked on new Queen animations for Pawn of the Dead. White Queen runs on board, while Black Queen teleports herself to distant squares. Also, I changed the color space to Linear from Gamma in Unity. I hope you like it better now.
* We worked on the Castle environment to make it look better
* There are short sounds at the ends of matches that show which side has won the match
* We fixed a few bugs. For example, we weren't getting correct solutions for Casual difficulty, sometimes the game was creating levels that the enemy would win. That bug is fixed.
You can play Pawn of the Dead on your Linux computer with Vulkan, too, now! OpenGL Core support still exists, in case you can't run Vulkan on your computer.
We have also made some minor changes on the visuals.
Pawn of the Dead has 64 bit support for Mac now, which means it will work for the latest macOS version (Catalina). Embrassing side-note: The game had 64 bit support for Mac since October, 2019. Today I noticed that I didn't mark the game this way in Steam, which resulted in the game seeming as if it doesn't work in Catalina. I fixed it today.
Pawn of the Dead's classical chess mode is live now, you can start playing it! FIDE rules are applied in this mode.
It is also possible to play the game with classical chess rules in random level generation mode. This means that, you can play infinite amounts of chess puzzles in Pawn of the Dead.

Hello, I am working on achievements. If things go smooth, you will have access to the achievements in a few days. The achievements are mainly about how many random levels you beat.
Good news for Linux users: You can play the game on your Linux natively now! No need for emulation.
I managed to solve that post-processing bug that prevented me from publishing the game for Linux. It has a minor bug now, though: At the first time I launched the game, mouse cursor didn't run. I need to launch the game twice, then everything works perfectly. I'm currently investigating the issue.

I have got some bad news about the Linux support for Pawn of the Dead.
Unfortunately, I am having technical problems with our game engine (Unity) and Linux. To be precise, post-processing image effects work extremely buggy on OpenGLCore. The game can't be shipped in this state. So I need to let you know that the Linux support will wait at this point, it will be come when we fix the problem with Unity.
I am a supporter of the concept of free software and OS's. I don't expect so much Linux players for Pawn of the Dead, but I still want to support Linux for it, like I did in Clown House and Graveyard Shift.

Pawn of the Dead is a 3D game based on chess, in the style of Battle Chess. What makes it a unique game is its mechanic: When a Black (undead) piece captures a White piece, that White piece turns into a Black one! But don’t worry, all the levels are designed so that you can always win the match.

We currently have a random level generator, which provides you procedural challanges. It creates levels that are challenging enough, but it guarantees you that there is always at least one solution. It's possible to play as Black side in this mode.
