If you were running the game on an M1 mac, it would've crashed at the end of the game and failed to post a Steam achievement. That's fixed now. Sadly the secret at the end of the game doesn't work on M1 macs. That's beyond my control, so if it's important to you, run in Rosetta mode.

There was a teeny little unintentional spike on the floor collider at orange hell, some people were getting stuck on it. Fixed.

- Ctrl-R speedrunner reset key no longer works if it's the player's first run. - You can't accidentally start a game while the settings menu is up.

Version 1.6. This is mainly a big compatibility update to new version of Unity, should help the game to run on newer hardware (including Apple M1) and also produce smoother gameplay. Thanks to the Discord community for helping to test it and iron out bugs. As always, the older versions are still there on Steam if you prefer them. Go to the properties for the game, go to the betas tab, type password 'nakedmaninapot' and choose the version you want (the previous version was 1.599). Detailed changes: - Build is signed for running on newer versions of MacOS - Small change to the shape of the pot collider that should reduce the incidence of the pot unexpectedly gripping to the world, especially on slopes. I tested this with the speedrunning community, seems it shouldnt have a major impact on feel, just make the game a tiny bit more consistent. - Finally fixed the rare save game bug, I hope - Finally fixed the perf issue with the particles near the antenna - Couple of extra little spots where the hammer could get stuck (barrel and toilet) fixed. It's never going to be perfect, though! - Fix an issue where going from back to the settings menu would revert language to English - Maybe a couple other things, I forget.

Hey everyone, It's been a year and a half since I launched Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, and today I'm able to share the release of APE OUT, which is one of the things I've been working on since then. This time it's not a 'Bennett Foddy' game, but something I've been working on with two of my good friends, as an artist and level designer. Here's the official description from Devolver:
APE OUT is a wildly intense and colorfully stylized smash em up about primal escape, rhythmic violence, and frenetic jazz. Build up nearly unstoppable momentum and use your captors as both weapons and shields to crush everyone on your procedurally generated path to freedom.
Well anyway, I'm obviously biased but I love this game - and I think if you like Getting Over It you'll probably like this one too. The designer, Gabe, is not as cruel as I am but it is pretty close. You can get it on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/447150/APE_OUT/ Or check out the launch trailer here. https://youtu.be/inL630qzCnI

For a certain kind of person
To hurt them.
Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy is a punishing climbing game, a homage to Jazzuo's 2002 B-Game classic 'Sexy Hiking'. You move the hammer with the mouse, and that's all there is. With practice, you'll be able to jump, swing, climb and fly. Great mysteries and a wonderful reward await the master hikers who reach the top of the mountain.
To quote Jazzuo himself: "The hiking action is very similar to way you would do it in real life, remember that and you will do well".
- Climb up an enormous mountain with nothing but a hammer and a pot.
- Listen as I make philosophical observations about the problem at hand.
- Between 2 and ∞ hours of agonizing gameplay, depending. The median time to finish for my playtesters was 5 hours, but the mean was closer to ∞.
- Lose all your progress, over and over.
- Feel new types of frustration you didn't know you were capable of.
- Magical reward awaits hikers who reach the top.
