The new DLC for Distress, Dead Orbit, is live! This DLC adds several new branches and a load of endings, bringing the total endings for Distress over 100. Nice. We hope you enjoy it! To access the new content: go through the utility hangar playthrough, don't shoot Zeef, retreat back to the ship, use him as bait, and that will take you to all the new branches.
Hey everyone! Good news and bad news. First off, the slightly bad news. Im pushing the release of Dead Orbit (initially called Bleak Orbit) from end of March to April 10 in order to add some things and give our editor extra time to look everything over. However, the good news is youll be getting a bit more content for that delay and I can finally tell you what Dead Orbit is about. So, like Survive The Night, Dead Orbit will change one of the endings of Distress into a another adventure complete with a full set of branches and endings. This time Dead Orbit takes us off Nova-8 and places our action on the Swiftsure. The ship has been damaged in the retreat from the station and now the Swiftsure and its crew are floating helplessly, desperately trying to figure out how to send a distress signal to anyone who may be out there as supplies and oxygen dwindle. As Demetria, youve got to manage your crews needs, expectations, and address a recent trauma that you were responsible for thats corroding your crewmates faith in you. Mettle and faith will be tested as well as your leadership abilities. Can you get everyone home or will you become a victim of your failures? Cannibalism, pirates, betrayal, and more await you in Dead Orbit. The DLC will add 12 endings in total, bringing Distress total tally to over 100 ways for your story to conclude. Cheers, and see you on April 10 with another bloody good time. Javy
Fixed some typos and a glitch in the recently released DLC.
Hey everyone! Survive The Night, the first free DLC for Distress that adds a new branching path and 10 endings, is available now. Heres how you can access it (mild spoilers ahead for the early Utility Hangar path playthrough). START SPOILERS Early on in the Utility Hangar path, one of the choices you can make involves a crew member taken hostage. If you fail that encounter and the crew member dies, you have the option to retreat or continue investigating Nova-8. Choose to continue investigating. In the original release, this ended in a dead-ending conclusion. However, that dead-end is now the entry way to the new content. END SPOILERS The next update, Dead Orbit, will be similar to this. Ill be patching out one of the dead-ends and adding more content, though this one will be taking place off of Nova-8. Look forward to that in March. More free DLC to follow after that and through 2019 as well. Cheers, Javy
Hey everyone! Javy here. The first content update is nearly here. Plan is to have it out the door on January 29 for both Steam and Itch.io versions of Distress. As someone whos played a lot of DLC over the years, I find that my favorites are those that feel like natural extensions of the game in question, like how Artorias of the Abyss is essentially just another zone in Dark Souls or how the various episodes of Mass Effect 2 feel like theyre naturally woven into the games story. With that in mind, Distress DLC updates will be similar. All of them will take place during the Nova-8 storyline. Every update will essentially turn one of the dead-end Game Over endings of Distress into an extensive branching path filled with more storylines, game overs, and tense situations. The first content pack is called Survive The Night. The update adds a new storyline with a surprise at the forefront of it and includes 10 endings. As far as the next DLC goes, were eyeing a drop date of March update for content pack 2 (titled Bleak Orbit) and it will be quite different than anything youve played in Distress so far. Well shoot you all another update when the first DLC is live as well as instructions on how to access it. Cheers.
Heya everyone, As we promised during our Kickstarter campaign, we plan to support Distress with free post-launch release content that's mostly focused on giving the game more branches and replay value. We'll be releasing the first update late next month (January). We're excited that people are enjoying the game right now and can't wait to make it even better. Cheers, Javy
