Hi Feuders, we've just released patch 1.8.1. This tightens up a few things and fixes a couple of bugs, but mostly it's just laying the groundwork for our next big update. Please look forward to that, and as always, thank you for playing!
Hello Feud players! We know it's been a little while; thank you so much for being patient with us. Today we've got a new update for you - this update's big features are mostly in the Android and iOS versions, but we've got some other quality-of-life improvements too for the PC crowd. We've got a much larger update in the works and we're very excited to show it to you. Please look forward to that! Here are the ch-ch-changes:
- The language picker now shows the names of languages in their own language. That's a confusing sentence. You'll see what I mean.
- We now ask for confirmation the first time you ever skip your turn. This is only really useful for new players but we think it'll help prevent confusion, bless them.
- We've tweaked the settings menu a bit so it should be a little better organised.
- Updated and tuned lots of things under the hood to keep everything ticking over smoothly.
Hello Feud players! Just in time for Christmas, our 1.7 update is here, featuring a host of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements. Without further ado, here's the list of changes.
- Added some lovely new symbols to pieces to make them more visually distinct.
- Piece colours now respect your colour blindness setting properly!
- The markers during the placement phase now pulse in a very pleasing way.
- The info text now rotates if you're playing Versus in Opposite mode. No more needing to stand on your head to read it!
- Fixed some rouge translation bugs. I mean rogue. You can see where the issue comes from.
- Made the settings menu volume sliders 'sticky' to be less annoying.
- Added some missing SFX to places they were...missing.
- Fixed a bug where a dialog box wasn't very socially aware and outstayed its welcome.
- Stopped showing that creepy blank avatar when you're not signed in.
- Tweaked the text on some things to make it a bit clearer.
- Added Ollie to the credits screen. He's our new QA and is the reason these release notes are so long. Be sure to thank him.
Hey folks, Hope you're enjoying the new achievements! We've just shipped a small patch update to fix a crash bug that was happening when players tried to load a match that had been conceded. Sorry about that! Should be all good now. Thanks for playing!
Hello Feud players! It's been a little while since our last update, so this is a big one! First up, we're bringing in a long-requested feature: achievements! Some of these you'll get through the course of play, some are a little trickier, and some will challenge even the best players. We hope you have a really nice time collecting them. Don't forget to let us know via Twitter or on our Discord if you unlock them all, for bragging rights and the adoration of your peers! We've also added three new languages to the game: French, German and Japanese. These were translated by our amazing community members achmoye, Salatkopf, Raelag, AsukaHISANO and peppernom - thank you all so very much! That's not all! Here are some other things we've done for this release:
- Added a nicer font for Chinese and Japanese!
- Fixed some crash bugs that would happen when moving between screens!
- Fixed some rendering bugs that you might not have noticed, but we did, and they were annoying us!
- Fixed the way dates are rendered in some languages!
Hey Feud players! We're working hard on implementing achievements in Feud. We hope to get these to you in the next few weeks sometime. Unfortunately, since we're in Early Access, we can't work on developing and testing these achievements without publishing them. We thought this would be a bit confusing for our players, so we've made all the achievements hidden for now, and they cannot be earned. Don't worry! This won't be the case when those achievements are implemented, and we'll be sure to let you know when that happens. As always, thanks for playing Feud! The Bearwaves team.
Feud 1.5 is here, and this time the focus is on localisation.
New languages
Thanks to our amazing community on Crowdin, Feud is now available in the following languages:
- Italian
- Romanian
- Simplified Chinese
50,000
We're also celebrating 50,000 players with this release! Thank you so much to everyone who has played the game so far, it really means a lot to us.
Until next time, see you online! Did you know that Feud is now funded on Patreon? You can get exclusive rewards and help keep the game running by becoming one of our Patrons. Click here to see our page.
Hi Feud players! We've just shipped a new version of Feud with the version number 1.4.5. Here are your release notes, for your viewing pleasure:
- Feud is now notarized on macOS. This means Apple have scanned it and said, "yep, that's all good fam, we'll let people on Catalina install this now". This was quite a painful process and we're glad it's finally working.
- We've changed a lot of stuff behind the scenes - Feud now runs on an updated JRE (the thing that runs the code, don't worry about it) which means the install size is a bit smaller.
- We've also swapped out our window management library for a newer one. You'll see a slight change in the resolution settings menu because of this. The game should hopefully behave itself better on multi-monitor setups now.
We've updated Feud! The new version number is 1.4.4. We've made a few small quality-of-life improvements:
- Pieces now have empty health spaces to make it clearer how much health they've lost.
- Animations have been sped up slightly across the board (heh, board).
- We've added an option to remove the delay between AI animations.

Feud 1.4.3 has just been released. This is a balance patch which adjusts the middle two starting layouts to make them a bit more viable in strategies. Full patch notes:
- Adjusted middle layouts to have both Knights in front.
- Added Patreon link to credits page, along with credit for Patrons.
- Moved client to point at new server backend.
Feud 1.4.1 has been released. This is a small patch that fixes a few crash bugs we found since 1.4.0.
- Fixed a bug where the game could crash on stalemate.
- Fixed a bug where the game could crash if an opponent disconnected during an async match.
- Fixed a bug where the game could crash if a dialog didn't appear at the right time.
Feud 1.4 is here, with some new tweaks and features we think you're going to really like.
Live Mode
When we released Feud into Early Access last May, there was one feature that lots of players were asking for - they wanted a more quickfire form of multiplayer than our asynchronous play with 24 hours per move. Today we're really pleased to be shipping our new live multiplayer mode, a quickfire game where each player has just 90 seconds to make their move, and disconnecting is not allowed! You can get into a match, or invite a friend to one, from the Live tab on the multiplayer menu.
You can also invite other players to a live match, as long as they're online and not in a live match already! You can even invite them if they're in an async match, as they can leave those without penalty.
A slight balance tweak
We had some players say they thought Black had a slight advantage due to moving first. We looked into it and found that, while it was generally pretty balanced, pursing a Regicide strategy was harder if you were playing as White. To address this, we've reduced the starting HP of the Black Shield from 4 to 3.
Other fixes and quality-of-life improvements
- We found that the online play was chewing up CPU, which wasn't great, especially for folks playing on PCs with batteries. We've fixed this, your machine should run quieter now!
- We've fixed bug where a game's outcome wasn't appearing in the endgame menu when playing online.
- We fixed a bug where animations would queue up during online play while you had the menu open, and then play after you closed it. This was kinda funny but it was open to abuse, so we fixed it.
- We fixed an annoying bug where disconnecting with a dialog open could result in an uncloseable dialog. Close the dialog. Stop having it be not closed.
A small update from us this time, up to version 1.3.1. PC patch notes:
- Fixed an internationalisation bug that was causing some text to LOOK_LIKE_THIS. Fixed it.
- We've made the settings menu accessible from the top-left dropdown menu on the main menu screen, just in case your resolution goes wonky and you need to get in there.
We've just released version 1.3 of Feud! This contains some nice quality-of-life features, as well as a big new feature in the form of customisable avatar costumes!
We've given you a few costumes to get started. Log in to the game over the Christmas period and you might just unlock a surprise...
Full patch notes:
- Added new customisable avatar costumes
- Changed the skip buttons to be a bit clearer about how many skips have been used.
- Added a little bit more visual feedback on button presses.
- Internationalised the game - you shouldn't see any difference, but this means we'll be able to start adding new languages soon!
Hi all, we've just released our 1.1 update. This includes an invite system, a concede button and more! Full patch notes are as follows:
- Added an invite system for asynchronous invites by display name.
- Added a concede button.
- Tidied up online menu screen, making sections collapsible.
- Game stays connected as you move between matches, making it a bit smoother.
- Fixed bug where double-click in online menu resulted in matches being loaded incorrectly.
- Fixed annoying screen flicker when loading a match.
Hi all! We've just published a public roadmap for Feud. You can use this to keep track of which new features we're working on, as well as the rough order in which things will be added. Usual disclaimers apply - order subject to change, and so on. Let us know what you think!
Hi folks - we just pushed out a small patch to Feud. This fixes a couple of nasty crash bugs people were encountering, and also adds some better crash dump logging so we can better diagnose problems in the future. We'll have a more substantial update, featuring invites and a concede button, quite soon. Thanks! Full patch notes
- Fixed a crash on finishing a game after starting a new game using the restart button.
- Fixed another crash that would sometimes happen when you joined a new match.
- Fixed an issue where the game would stay 'running' in Steam after it had crashed or exited.
- Fixed the date formatting to be more consistent.
- Added proper crash dump logging so if it happens we can just ask you for a log file - no more messing around with Command Prompt, hopefully.
Early Access is here! We're delighted to finally share the game with everyone. Play it, enjoy it, tell your friends. Consider buying the soundtrack if you really want to help us out. Big love.

Feud Linux [183.2 M]
Feud is a turn-based strategy game made by some guys you haven't heard of yet. Originally a board game designed by Dave Cordell, it's been polished and tweaked and generally mucked about with to bring it to the glowing screen you're reading this description on. Unless you printed it out? Think of the trees. Please.
CONDENSED ABSTRACT STRATEGY
Imagine chess, but on a four-by-four grid, where pieces are swapped rather than moved, each piece has its own special ability and--
OK, not so much like chess. What you can expect is a highly condensed little abstract strategy game which is easy enough to learn but quite tricky to get good at. The AI still beats us sometimes. The computers are winning. Please get good at Feud so we can beat them.
FREE AND CROSS-PLATFORM
Feud is free to play and has full cross-platform play between PC, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android. This means you can play Feud at your boring job, then on the bus on the way home from your boring job, then on your computer at home while you recover from your boring job.
Please note that we do not recommend playing Feud during your commute if you walk to work, especially if you live in a city with lots of open manhole covers which is pretty much what I imagine New York to be like. I dunno, I've never been.
YOU HAVEN'T TOLD ME MUCH ABOUT THIS GAME YET, TO BE HONEST
I'm not very good at this. Sorry. Anyway, look, the game's free and only a couple of hundred megabytes. You might as well, really.
