Now, numbers like 100,000 are displayed as 100k, and 1,200,000 as 1.2m. This can be enabled via a checkbox in the currency settings, either at the start of the game or through the menu > Currency. - Game difficulty now affects salaries and businesses. We're excited to release the new update. Here's a short breakdown of what's new. Exact Moves. Now you can move to the desired square at will. Exact moves are immediately available on the easy level. On the medium level, you need to study Planning, and on the hard level and above Motivation. Personal Residence. The concept of owning housing for rent and purchase has been added, in 3 options (modest, common, hi-end). The size of the housing affects stress depending of the size of the family. Dreams. Unique bonuses have been added for buying each dream at each difficulty level. Landing on the dream square increases mood regardless of purchase. Cryptocurrency. The concept of risk levels for crypto exchanges has been added. Now, when trading, there is a risk of losing a single transaction or the entire crypto wallet. Risk levels can be reduced through experience, training, and networking. Risks may change during the game and in crisis. You can see what affects the current risk level. in the stock interface. Events have been added that nullify the crypto for all players and temporarily increase risks in crypto. Stock Market. Events related to the stock market are applied instantly. Short sales are not possible when a crisis starts. Stress. The maximum mood now depends on the stress level. Stress-related and motivational workshops. Vacationing reduces stress for several months. A regular update that fixes different bugs and mistakes. Many bugs and mistakes were fixed thanks to the community reports. Although we rarely can personally reply to every single report, we still see them and act accordingly. Some reported errors were not technical issues, but rather misunderstandings of the game mechanics, so we added some additional explanation texts. We also managed to find a source of missing achievement problems. It's caused by the in-game method of achievement checking. Since there are 100 achievements, the process takes time, and depending on the hardware can be inefficient. We'll rewrite this method in the v12 version. If you wish to contribute to fixing issues, please make sure you mark "auto send errors" in the "game menu > settings", and report any encountered issues through "game menu -> report error".

Development news. Over the past month, we have been rebuilding the project. Rebuilding, or refactoring, has long been needed. Since the first release back in 2015, we've been adding more and more functions, that were not originally planned. Let's take at least the size of the database - in the very first version there were about 200 events with simple conditions, and now there are several thousand of them with complex, cross-trigger conditions. All this impacted stability and performance, plus it was bad for a true multiplayer online game. Wo what's the plan now? 1. Test the rebuild on iOS/Android. Technically, the game has changed a lot from the inside, but it should be more stable than previous versions. Hopefully, the test won't take long. 2. Add a series of features that did not make it to the 11th version: endgame scoreboard, more players, stock companies, and chitcoin bankruptcy (hey you cryptopunks!) 3. Content not included in the 11th version. Quests for real estate - affect the gameplay. New expenses - do not affect the game, but make the game a bit funnier for those who have memorized all the texts already. 4. The unjustified war crippled our income so unfortunately, we don't have the resources to hire professional translators, as was planned for 2022. So I guess we'll go with a crowdsourced translation solution somewhere here. The game has tons of texts, I guess it'll take a while. 5. Transfer the entire database from the game to the server to make updates easier. 6. Finally start making true online multiplayer (yaaay!). Given 1 and 4, it will be much easier. 7. Content editor. Most likely it will not be done beautifully with a GUI, but as a database that can be edited manually. Still an option to make your own content, right?

Soundtrack. You've been asking since forever, and here it is from mp3 to lossless. If you want to support us, you can buy it (we'll be real happy). 80 minutes. Dividends. How it works: Every company may or may not pay out dividends once a year. How much you get depends on how volatile the current company is. In the case of a short position, it is the player who pays the dividends. After the payment of dividends comes the ex-dividend date: a stock's price falls down and slowly rises back up. We also added a highly volatile cryptocurrency and dropped silver. You still can't buy any stocks at any time though (it'll come later).
Custom currency. You can fine-tune the numbers (raise or lower) and pick any currency symbol you like. This will NOT change the game balance, so this feature is purely visual. Maybe somebody wants to see his wage as $20/hour, not 100T as it right now.
New map(s). Still under construction. You can see the concept art on the screenshot. We have it in 3D, but can't show it just yet. We want to add multiple maps from various areas to make things interesting, but the cost of 3D art is ridiculously high for an indie game. We now get why pixel art and low poly are in. So, for now, we're trying to strike a balance between cost, speed, and quality.
Every feature is a ton of game design, interface, coding, and UI tweaks. It goes something like this: come up with an idea, draw it, explain it, code it, test it, revise it, repeat x10, and only then turn it in and move on.

Here you can see the upcoming character editor windows. The mechanics are based on the idea of "points", which can be used to buy different things for your character. If you lack on points, you can get more by making your character older, or taking more responsibility by having a family, or just get some bad habits. There are currently two limitations: you can't start the game with a negative amount of points, or not having enough time.
In the progress of making the editor, we had to drop off the idea of changing the character's avatars as they age. The test results were not cool, time-consuming and expensive. Perhaps if the avatars were modular, generating in the game engine, it could be done, but for now we'll postpone this idea to the next project :D

What are we doing now and why aren't there any updates? We've decided to change the way we release updates. Instead of many small patches, there's going to be a few major updates with multiple new features. So, here's what to expect: 1. Multiplayer Through trial and error, we've finally found an appropriate solution for an online multiplayer. The server's almost done, now we're working on the game client. Online gaming is a whole other world where you have to foresee millions of different scenarios while trying to eliminate cheaters. Shoutout to game developers, these guys work HARD. 2. Character Creator You will be able to customize your character. Each player will be granted a certain number of Starting Points they can spend on education, career level, starting capital, or many other useful things. If you don't have enough points, you can get more by willing to accept some responsibilities: having family and kids, helping out your parents. Bad habits and being older at the start will also rack up some points. We don't want to restrict you too much: if you want to create a character with a great career, loads of money, and all kinds of connections -- then so be it, but the difficulty will be considered as "Easy". 3. Aging One of the key changes. You have to win before you retire, and the older your character is, the less time you have. Besides, as your character grows older, you will have less free time at your disposal. The avatar won't be changing though, the current avatar style isn't so affordable and flexible for such a feature. 4. The age of family members (and more) At some point, children grow older and start to live on their own, so we're allowing you to cancel out your lack of free time as you age with reduced spendings on your children. Maybe they'll even start to help you out. This might work in some other cases, too, -- although, say, if you're a dog lover and your doggo goes to doggo heaven, you'll probably going to get another one at some point. 5. Tutorial and tips An interactive tutorial is a great way to attract new players. This idea sounds so simple, but somehow it's hard to implement and has eaten up a lot of our resources already (but we're not giving up just yet!). 6. Really working stock market So that you can buy or sell any stocks you want, and not just the ones you got randomly. Plus a portfolio to collect a large number of assets. We're not going to add options, bonds, or dividends yet, but will add cryptocurrency. The interface is done, next is the code. 7. Unforeseen expenses Many of you have expressed how ill-conceived it is to buy a cow you can't afford, figuratively speaking. Well, it's "a cow or major depression" type of situation. If your character is consistently sad, he or she may get depressed and will have to seek professional help. So it's either crying or paying, whichever one you like. Right now it's just a general idea, which we will test out and make sure that it doesn't lead to a generation of depressed millionaires who live on ramen noodles for 15 years to make it and get help later. Real life doesn't work like that, you're gonna end up either crazy or dead. 8. Achievements These are just for fun. Some will be visible, some hidden, depending on which ones will be easier to employ without spending too much. We're also working on achievements for Steam, Play Store, and App Store. 9. Final cutscenes To be honest, the Dream Fulfilled cutscenes have been ready for almost a year. We just haven't gotten around to actually adding them to the game. Also, we're not really sure, do we have to show them right after the purchase or in the end? If right away then you can see them without actually winning the game. Not cool. If in the end, that's just weird: you landed on the Moon at thirty, but saw it at sixty-five? Or made enough money for the space travel by thirty and waited for another thirty-five years to go? Weird. Surprisingly complicated game design issue. 10. Business quests We also really want to make business and real estate much more unpredictable than they are now. We've already scripted and added the chance cards, which present two new events, 2 to 3 choices, and two potential outcomes (so, 500! unique events overall). But to do that properly, we would have to rethink the whole system, which we obviously don't want to do. So, another game design issue. 11. Major changes There's the problem: the more features the game has, the sooner it starts to crumble under its own weight. This is why, after a certain amount of time, TF starts to lag on Android, and we have little idea how to fix it. We need to change the whole game engine, really.
