Updates Round-Up #6

The new Killer Chambers STEAM DECK UPDATE is live! We finally managed to get our hands on a Steam Deck so we wasted no time and made some changes to make KC shine on this amazing device! If you are one of the lucky ones with a Steam Deck don't hesitate to reach out to us in the Discussion forums if you wish to suggest for any improvements or if you find some pesky bugs to report! NEW STUFF

  • The Steam Cloud save game funcionality is now cross-platform between Windows and Linux (so on the Steam deck too).
  • You can now switch the inventory tab with LB and RB on the Xbox gamepad, and with L1 and R1 on the Steam Deck.
  • The 60 fps lock is now enabled by default in the options menu when starting KC for the first time.
  • Setting the game to fullscreen in the options will now hide the resolution dialog so it's less confusing (the game uses the native device resolution when in full screen).
  • All the tutorial graphics, tips and help menus are updated to show Steam Deck controls and icons when running KC there.
FIXES
  • Fixed the Fire Child not dropping rewards after you defeat him.
  • Fixed a rare crash during the Fire Child intro when pressing Esc.
  • Small fix to show correctly the custom mouse cursor when using a trackpad as a mouse on the Steam Deck.

Updates Round-Up #5

The new Killer Chambers MEGA-PATCH is live! It' been some time but there's a lot of new things with this update. Many of the changes are under the hood for better performance and overall stability, mainly due to the optimisations that were needed on the console versions of KC, so with this patch the game is exactly the same on all platforms. But there's a relevant change in terms of gameplay too: A complete rework of the patterns for the first two maps, the bosses and the cursed rooms. We've noticed that some players struggle a bit too much with the difficulty so we loosened up things in the whole first third of the game (this includes all the difficulty levels in each chamber of course). So now it's a good time to retry that impossible level or boss and get that crown at the end of the game! NEW STUFF

  • Re-balanced all the difficulty levels for the first two maps of the game.
  • Re-balanced the difficulty for the bosses and the cursed rooms.
  • Optimisations to the input behaviour when using a gamepad (better control and less sensibility weirdness).
  • Full rework of the particle system (better performance).
  • Opening any menu in a chamber, including the inventory, will now pause the game.
FIXES
  • Fixed some issues with Mascarone when using the Rugby Helmet.
  • General fixes to the effects of some hats and items.
  • Optimisations in how the sounds work internally (less sound overlapping).

Updates Round-Up #3


Some minor fixes this week, but there's a new supported OS! Now Killer Chambers can be played on Linux too! NEW STUFF

FIXES
  • fixed some typos in the dialogues
  • fixed missing ambient sounds in the Forge
I had to fiddle a bit with the controls to make sure the gamepad is working out of the box on Linux and now it works as it should with Xbox 360 and Xbox One controllers both wired and wireless. If you have a different kind of controller and something is off please write us in the forums, we'll sort it out! As always for any idea, suggestion or if you have any other issue don't hesitate to write in the forums!

Updates Round-Up #2

This week updates include a nice new feature in the works for some time: Cloud Saving! The migration to the new save system is completely automatic and silent, you don't need to take any action. Now you can take your hardships in the Royal Palace on any PC you own! As for the rest here's what you'll find in the latest version. NEW STUFF

  • Steam Cloud Support.
  • New save system (the save is located in "%USERPROFILE%/AppData/Local/KillerChambers" if you want to manually backup it).
  • Built the executable to properly run on x86 machines.
  • Per-level death counter added on game UI (just over the currently equipped hat slot).
  • Coins and gems will now be auto-collected 3 seconds after they dropped.
FIXES
  • Loading should be now faster on slower machines.
  • Fixed some more rare bugs in the passage levels.
  • Small STRAW HAT (teleport) related fixes.
  • Fixed a bug in which two Curse Rooms appeared on the map!
  • Fixed a bug involving the RUBGY HELMET and the last boss.

Updates Round-Up #1

After the Day-2 patch a lot of small refinements and fixes were constantly added during the past few days. Here's the highlights of what's new and what's fixed! NEW STUFF

  • Added in the system menu the option to lock the game at 60fps.
  • Added a "deaths worldwide" counter in the title menu.
  • Added support for the HD+ resolution (1440x900).
  • When you pick up the end level key, if you have missed any coins (dropped with the Top Hat ability) the game now picks them up for you automatically.
  • Fendrel now is more generous and gives you double the amount of items for the same price as before, yay!
FIXES
  • Fixed a bug where passage levels gave you two keys, making your life unacceptably easy!
  • Fixed a bug that stopped the tea bag counter when getting down quickly from Mascarone.
  • Fixed the passage levels patterns to prevent an easy solution skipping the opening dialogue and running before the trap are started.
  • Small STOP WATCH related fixes.
  • Re-balanced the difficulty of all coin (medium) and gem (hard) level variants in the Cellars!

Day-2 Update!

Here's what you'll find in the recent post-release updates:

  • Added WASD and space as undocumented alternative keys to move and jump.
  • On a gamepad you can now use the left bumper as a shortcut to quickly perform a mid-jump.
  • Re-balanced the difficulty of the dreaded Curse Rooms!
  • The easy difficulty of the last two rooms of the first world is re-balanced a bit too.

Pre-release Updates

Killer Chambers is releasing in 5 days but during the last weeks we didn't stop to fine tune the game. In the recent pre-release updates we focused on balancing the first time experience so now the main run of the game feels more welcoming for new players. Also we added around some help dialogues to better explain some game mechanics and point out the controls during gameplay so it's not needed to interrupt the game session to consult the (still present) help in the system menu. Also worth mentioning is that now the game supports 2K and 4K displays. Killer Chambers uses a retro inspired pixel look and to keep crisp edges it does not simply scale up the image inside the window blurring it out, instead it dynamically scales the game's pixels. For example one in-game pixel measures actually 10 pixels on 4K displays!

To get the King's Crown and save the realm Brave Lord has to face the ghostly apparition of Lord Grave and break through the deadly rooms of the Royal Palace fiercely protected by countless trap mechanisms.

Killer Chambers is an action-platformer/memory-game hybrid. You must survive in small rooms filled with traps until one turn of the hourglass.
Beware, even if you're hit only once you die! Can you hold out against an unforgiving bullet-hell in a narrow space?

Nothing is left to chance, every trap pattern is made to be challenging yet fun to solve but quick reflexes alone will not be enough to survive.
