We are very excited to share this precious historical moment with you all! For an entire year our team has been putting all of its energy, knowledge and enthusiasm into developing the worlds (probably) best couch party game. You are on the right page, cause TM is the one!
Fun fact: it all started in a garage. Ok, no. But really, the whole idea of The Game was born while having fun at one of our regular game jams at Gamelab, our indie game developer studio. We just cant stop spoiling you Its not even Xmas and we already added 4 absolutely new game modes: the Gameshow and the Symmetric Showdown and both their team versions, not to mention a completely new map, called New York, we guess even just reading the name you already envision something completely different from the earlier maps, and so it is, and oh, wait you know what has changed to be even more user friendly and awesome? The Menu! What else do you want? Now you name it! Actually now you can, because guess what, you can set your own nickname after you pick your pilot. Play multiple turns in quick succession and earn points to compete for the ultimate first prize! Deathmatch and its team variant got an overhaul. The AI bots wont act as clueless lemmings anymore and will attempt to jump over chasms and even evade incoming fire. Our beloved narrator now also comments on character specific events. This version also includes some new features that wont be present on the supported Steam operating systems. Namely we have implemented similar touch-control methods in-game as for the Controller App.

Controller App update
Free app for iOS and Android
The controller app now features haptic feedback on supported devices. To reduce input lag we use UDP for movement. We have received error reports so we have implemented an automatic fallback option to switch it to more reliable TCP/IP. Based on the feedback received we have swapped the jump and fire buttons placement. Please let us know which layout do you prefer.

This year we doubled the size of the GAMELAB living room at PlayIT, the largest gaming event in Hungary. It was awesome to meet some of our commited test pilots in person and lure in new fans with the game's soundtrack performed live by our band. Next to the couches players could download the free Controller App and play the game running on an iPad.

Kudos to the organisers for providing me with the opportunity to represent our fantastic team on the main stage, talking about the development's history and future. I also had the chance to showcase the current version playing with household names. I am happy to report that the build was rock solid and the game has improved a lot both visually and in usability. It was a lovely sight when the streamer Paplovag Gaming threw in a limited Tank Maniacs boxed copy into the crowd like a shuriken.

This update includes a new method to manually add or remove AI bots. By default the matches won't have bots in them, but you can customise this in the ready room using the patented Bot Dispenser Platform. It even works with team modes.

We have a brand new challenge for our most dedicated beta pilots.
The Tank Maniacs Crew works tirelessly to release updates as frequently as humanly possible. But what if we told you that from now on you dont have to wait a whole week to break the game? Thats right, now you can opt-in to our highly exclusive PTR Steam branch and receive DAILY updates! Of course this comes at a cost: this process is totally automated and you WILL receive incomplete features that are actively being worked on. There is no guarantee that the game in this state is going to be stable, so please keep this in mind as you hammer your keyboard to report issues. To do so simply right click on Tank Maniacs in your Steam library and select 'Properties'. On the 'BETAS' tab change the dropdown to 'ptr_daily - Public Test Realm daily build' and you are set to go.

Turn your phone or tablet into a full-blown touch controller for Tank Maniacs!
We have realised that not everyone has four gamepads at home. Or not even one, and may not even be at home when the opportunity comes to play a party game with friends! But as we all know since last November: gamers have phones! This is why we have developed a controller application for our couch party game. Download "TANK MANIACS CONTROLLER to your phone and you will have your controller with you, anywhere you go, anytime you are up for a game!
Of course, the app wont completely replace an ergonomic gamepad and since it is network-based there is a slight input lag. We have tested it at office and gaming event conditions and we think it is a viable alternative that can provide additional features in the future. But how does it work? It is as easy as driving a tank. You probably have a WiFi router at home right? If not, we have some bad news for you. Once youve found out whats going on with your home internet, tell your friends that they need to connect with their phones to your WiFi network. The PC or Laptop should also be on the same network that you are using for running the game. If you are all on the same network, simply launch the Controller App while the game is running, and press Join. Thats all, you are ready to roll out. Oh and one more thing. You can mix up the controllers, so you can use different ones in the same time - for e.g. one keyboard with 2 phones and one Xbox One controller etc. it doesnt matter. Try out the game with your old budget controller that youve bought for 1$, we probably support that as well.

This update introduces a team variant of the Last Tank Standing game mode. To activate it one player has to park beneath the supercomputer screen and press the highlighted input.
In team mode, the ready room is divided. To pick a team simply park at the desired side.

Our first Steam Closed Beta update introduces a crazy new tank and some fresh maps!
New Maps We call them holo maps. These are levels still under construction. The environmental aesthetics are temporary placeholders. We would like to receive feedback on the level geometry, balance and new gameplay mechanics before we dress them up properly. New features include deadly lava and moving geometry that turns the map into a dynamic ever-changing battleground. New Tank The Metronome Chicken, as the name implies has two constantly moving heads. You have to time your shots to the rhythm to aim.
