The Working Parts Soundtracks now on Steam

It's May 24th, and six whole years have passed since They Breathe first appeared on Steam. As a small celebration, we figured it was high time we released the game's original soundtrack as well. So now there's nothing to stop you from listening to the somber main theme on repeat as you fall asleep, or even letting Kristian Johansson's gut-wrenching soundscapes accompany your next Fortnite stream. Here's the link. But did you know that The Working Parts also made this other game once, that we don't talk about as much? The first game that any of us ever released is called Residue; a five-year labor of love - and hate - that spawned seven careers in games (that we know of). It was rife with beginner's mistakes from the get-go, and time certainly hasn't done it any favors. But if there is one aspect of the game that has truly aged well, it's this: Joel Bille's very first video game soundtrack. To this day it's got some of his strongest melodies (which is saying something) and although the various themes cover a range of emotions and atmospheres, there is always this underlying sense of lament over the horrific fate of the Aral Sea and the communities that depended on it. At the same time, I find that I turn to this soundtrack for hope; for a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is so much worth fighting for. This soundtrack is now also available on Steam. If you can't muster the cost right now, we completely understand that. You will still be able to find both soundtracks for free on Bandcamp. Stay safe, The Working Parts

    CAN YOU SEE IT?
In the first game by The Working Parts, a lone frog descends into the depths of a flooded forest, not yet knowing the full extent of its tragedy. To survive in a brutal, oxygen-obsessed ecosystem, you must help it see the patterns and hidden truths that make up the rules of the forest - horrible as they may be.

They Breathe is a critically acclaimed indie gem risen from the depths of Xbox Live Indie Games. In thirty short minutes, the game leaves it up to you to figure out every part of its increasingly bizarre universe, in order to survive the onslaught of unexpected creatures and ultimately comprehend their true nature. No matter how your descent to the bottom of the forest takes shape, it is guaranteed to give you the chills without a single word of dialog.

Keep your eyes open, for there is darkness beneath the surface. And you're not at the bottom yet.
