Letter Quest Remastered v1.0.6 is now available. This update contains several bug fixes and some changes to make the game compliant with GDPR. Have a great day! - The Bacon Bandits
Letter Quest Remastered v1.0.5 is now available. This update is mostly bug fixes.
Changes:
- Duplicator, flipped, and whirlwind tiles now take priority over normal tiles when using the keyboard - as several people pointed out, generally it is desired to use these letters before normal letters.
- Fixed a bug that was causing an error during startup of the game for a few players.
- Fixed a rare crash bug when saving the game.
- Fixed an error with Steam initialization in certain, very specific circumstances.
- Fixed a crash bug when the in-game help system is triggered and a shopkeeper (the ones that are rescued/encountered during certain early stages) is on the screen.
- Fixed a bug where the enemy details callout could be shown partially off the screen in certain situations.
- Fixed a bug where if exactly one turn of the attack bonus status effect was remaining, and a word was spelled that contained one or more tiles that gave more attack bonus turns, all of the tile effects would be ignored.
- Fixed a bug where if exactly one turn of the attack bonus status effect was remaining, and a word was spelled that contained one or more tiles that gave more attack bonus turns and the word contained poison or spike tiles, the poison or spike damage would be ignored.
- Fixed a bug where certain popups could be dismissed with the ESCAPE key even when a dialog box was showing over top, leading to weird, buggy states.
- Fixed a bug where it would take two clicks (instead of 1) to click a merchant item after a tutorial was shown.
- Fixed a bug where the "select item" sound effect was playing way too many times in the shop when the selected item was changed.

Letter Quest Remastered v1.0.4 should now be available.
Changes:
- Added over 200 new words to the game's dictionary, and fixed/added definitions for another 100 words. This is a very time-consuming and manual process, and I'm looking into better ways to handle it.
- Added a tooltip to the challenge text when playing challenge stars in a stage so that it is easier to see the current challenge restriction.
- Added a yellow note label on the key bindings popup explaining that letter keys cannot be used for key bindings because they are reserved for typing words during battle.
- Changed behaviour when a crash occurs in the game - now it shows an in-game error popup, and has two buttons, one button submits a bug report, and another exits the game. Please submit a bug report if you encounter a crash in the game and see this popup, thank you!
- Added a custom error popup when the game cannot find Steam or Steam isn't running - in the general case, the game will cause Steam to start and then the game will start again, but for a very small number of players, Steam is running and they still have this issue. This popup explains that Steam should be restarted, and that a check for any Steam client updates should be attempted. It also mentions that if none of that works, to try adding an exception for the game to their antivirus, since there are a few antivirus programs that seem to block Steam connectivity in Unity games sometimes.
- Fixed a visual bug on the score summary popup, where if there were too many entries, the text would be cut off.
- Fixed a really rare crash related to how the in-game Steam functionality starts up (it only happened to 2 people).
- Changed the text of a few tutorials to make them less confusing (hopefully!)
- Added the game version to the bug report tool so that I can tell which game version the crash occurred in.
- Added two more profile backgrounds (part of Steam trading card system), bringing the total to 5.

Letter Quest Remastered v1.0.3 should now be available. This is a quick hot-fix update with a few other small changes. The main reason for this update is to fix a crash bug that was occurring for a few select players every time they ran the game (it was a sound card driver issue with Unity) - thank you to the people that emailed me about this issue!
Changes:
- Fixed a crash bug affecting several players, related to sound card drivers.
- Fixed a bug where if alt-tab out of game while music cross-fading is occurring (between scenes - when going to a stage or endless mode, or back to menus), the music is much louder than it should be when you get back to the game. This was due to me incorrectly setting up some music tracks in the MasterAudio Unity plugin that I used.
- Fixed bug where some of the dirt background was visible/lit up on the game over screen when in the book or weapon shop popups
- Fixed bug where the bottom dirt on bottom of screen was not visible during game over screens on endless, but it should be visible.
- Added a max number of coins earned from one enemy in endless mode, is set to 50. NOTE: this is NOT a balance change - even though enemies previously could indicate that they could drop more than 50 coins, they would actually only ever drop a maximum of 50 coins - this change only fixes the visual of how many coins it says each enemy will drop to match the actual number that they drop.

Hi, I just pushed an update, v1.0.2, which has several bug fixes and tweaks. I haven't been able to address all of the issues that have been brought up yet - I've prioritized the bugs and issues that prevent people from playing, or that crash the game. I will get to everything eventually though, but I wanted to get this update out quickly to address some of these issues. I did manage to sneak in a couple of super-quick fixes for some small issues though! A huge Bacon Bandits thank you to everyone that has reported bugs, emailed me more details and helped me to figure out these issues - I sincerely appreciate your help. And much thanks to everyone that has left a review for the game, which really helps us get some much-needed visibility! :)
Changes:
- Fixed bug where alt-tabbing out of the game when using RETRY option in a battle would lead to being "stuck" with a transparent overlay over the whole screen.
- Fixed a bug where attempting to start the game without Steam running would result in the game crashing on startup - now it correctly shuts the game down, attempts to start Steam, and then restarts the game.
- Fixed a bookkeeping error with the "gems earned" and "gems spent" stat, where in the main stats it wasn't taking gems spent at in-battle merchants into account. NOTE: this issue did not affect achievements or quests, just visual stats in the player stats screen.
- Fix up a tutorial that mentioned paying to upgrade books, which you cannot do in Letter Quest Remastered.
- Fixed a bug where the help callout for the stage progress bar was empty (contained no text).
