In 2009, the Russian Antarctic expedition discovered a mysterious object, which received the laconic name "Cube" for its form. The first contact of mankind with this perplexing artifact was not without casualties.
When Alex Gorodetsky, an expedition photographer, approached the monolithic surface of the "Cube", he saw an automatically opening portal and, forgetting about caution, stepped into it.
Having lost any hope that a comrade would return himself, the head of the expedition - an experienced polar explorer Skobelev, set off in search for him. However, he also sunk into oblivion, missing in the flickering entrance forever.
All further study of the "Cube" was transferred to the "Fund" - an international secret organization. The location of the object was isolated, and all references to that polar expedition were removed from official sources.
Despite all efforts of the scientists, very little has been learned about the nature of the "Cube". Even the very origin of this mechanism still provokes lots of theories. There is even a version that it's a kind of Time Machine created by mankind in the future.
The "Cube" is made of an unknown metal absolutely resistant to all types of physical impact and not amenable to any method of matter analysis. The only gateway, attracting by its soft, constantly shimmering light, allows to enter exclusively alive members of the human race on condition that they are in conscious.
During the research, many volunteers with various qualities and equipment were sent into the "Cube". However, only a few returned back, and even less of them retained their common sense.
The most famous case of "returning" occurred one night when the object was watched only by an officer on duty and the scientific equipment, not for a second giving up attempts to get at least a grain of information.
The wild cry THERE IS ETERNITY! broke the silence of the night when the passage opened, as if spitting out a shaggy, gray-haired man in rags that once were his clothes.
From the official report of the incident it follows that this man was a completely distraught photographer from that ill-fated expedition.
He died 24 hours later from a heart attack, without ceasing to talk incoherent nonsense about some technological miracles and unimaginable worlds inside the Cube.
By 2020, it becomes obvious that gloomy predictions about the fate of the Earth and humanity are beginning to come true. Global warming has come, bringing with it a series of natural disasters and environmental catastrophes.
The world went into a tailspin of the ongoing economic crisis, rising crime and hunger. Many at the Fund believe that the "Cube", with its unprecedented technology, is the last chance to save humanity.
In the corridors of the "Fund", wanders a whisper about the "Wishes' Performer" - an incredible machine that, supposedly, can be found somewhere in the endless compartments of the "Cube".
You are one of the reckless operatives of the "Fund", a volunteer willing to risk everything to uncover the secrets of the "Cube" and see its mechanical wonders with your own eyes.
You do not care much about the fate of mankind; for your age, the truly generous remuneration appointed by the board of directors is more than enough. If, of course, you manage to get out alive ...
Looking at the constantly rotating bizarre pattern at the entrance of the object called Cube, you try to clear your mind of all thoughts and simply watch its unhurried, mesmerizing spinning. You know its not necessary, but when the heartbeat returns to normal, you hold your breath before taking a step forward.

Very little is known about nature of the object called "Cube". From the outside it is a huge matt black monolith made of an unknown metal. The material of which the "Cube" is built has extraordinary hardness and is absolutely unaffected by any external influence. There is only a single gateway on its surface and it allows to enter exclusively alive and conscious members of the human race.
From the inside the "Cube" is an endless set of rooms, corridors and compartments that spreads for much greater distances than one can guess looking at "Cube" from the outside. It is believed that this discrepancy between external and internal volumes is a consequence of the object's existence in several parallel dimensions at the same time.
The questions "how?", "when?" and "for what?" this object was erected remain a mystery. The assumptions about its creators vary from alien origin to the version that the "Cube" is a kind of Time Machine.
You are to explore nooks and corners of this place on your own, meet deadly traps and uncover incredible secrets of the "Mechanical Cube".
