The Sin Slayers soundtrack is inspired by your favorite 2000s video game music, 1980s film scores, funk and heavy metal. Our sound is a mix of different genres that depicts the specific concepts behind game places and characters. The complete soundtrack will include 14 tracks and were more than halfway through, so lets talk about the process behind Sin Slayers music.
Guitars and Riffs
In a gothic horror fairytale like Sin Slayers, you cannot experience what it really feels like to be attacked by a tribe of man-eating pig people. But anyone whos spent decades playing RPGs can easily imagine this as a real-life situation. So for us the path to follow was simple we decided to visualize several game scenes in order to pick up the right tone for the music.
With a Gibson Les Paul Classic in the hands of our guitarist Ruslan Eldorado, we believe weve crafted tunes suitable both for a merciless rampage, and a mysterious discovery that has accompanied every roguelike since the genres inception.
Crazy Village
In many ways, this work is a tribute. As gamers with our own experience performing and composing, were actually retranslating what we loved about video game soundtracks and music more generally back in the 90s, as well as what we love about them now. In some battle tracks youll hear the influence of Quake 2, while in others youll recognize the roots of Mastodons cult Crack the Skye album. Some exploration themes will inevitably call to mind Matt Uelmens Diablo and Kirill Pokrovskys Divinity, while others will be familiar to every King Crimson fan.
Live Vocals
In a sense, everybody loves singing! We still remember an era when the use of live vocals in a game soundtrack was impossible because of technical limitations, and were happy to have this opportunity to enrich Sin Slayers music with the voices of the best guys and gals available.
At the frontline of the Siren track stands the gorgeous Ekaterina Evdokimova, an extremely talented singer and very deep musician. While working on the female vocals, we frequently looked back at Eric Serras work on The Fifth Element. You may be cool, but youll never be as cool as Plavalaguna.
Siren
Male voice tracks Anvil, Siren, Woods and Cemetery Gates were recorded by Peter Salnikov, whos also responsible for the rest of the work on this soundtrack. Composing, arranging, recording, mixing and singing well, a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do.
Anvil
Some vocal parts (except Ekaterinas solo etudes) are accompanied by the Logic Pro Xs mellotron choir. ICYMI mellotrons were proto-synthesizers, with sounds of violins, flutes, choirs, or even whole ensemble loops recorded on tape. This technology had a lot of limitations, e.g. an 8 second maximum playback time for a single note and zero sustain, but the sound artefacts generated by aging tape are priceless.
Graveyard
Unusual, funky soundtrack
I swear it was a Steam comment! Speaking of the overall vibe of the Sin Slayers soundtrack, our conversations on the topic of sins and sinners made us think about gospel singers, which is best depicted on the Refuge theme. This one plays in the Church, the safehouse of your adventures in the Valley.
Refuge
Electric organ and handclaps in the distance, the bass line built of 70s synth, slap bass and electric piano samples have got you covered. Live cello was recorded by Alexey Mazin of the Arcanum Vivum cover band to remind us all of the original blue Max Payne theme. Aside from that, the distant electric guitar that came here straight outta the Jagged Alliance 2 Laptop theme will put you in the right mood as you weave your vicious way through this cursed land. Lonely and grim but full of hope, and strong men ready to fight the darkness thats what the Refuge theme is all about.
The same principles stand behind every other musical theme in the game. Yes, were in the grim graveyard with undead knights and ghosts lurking nearby. But were happy to be here, and a fine battle, glory, treasure and fame are exactly what we came for!

Sin Slayers is an RPG with roguelike elements set in a dark fantasy world, where your choices determine how challenging the fights and enemies will be.
Create, equip and lead a team of heroes. Each unit will have its own abilities and weaknesses, so plan your combat strategy accordingly. You’ll journey through stinking primeval forests, boneyards riddled with crypts and the graves of fallen warriors, and other places even the bravest adventurer would fear to tread.
Battles, traps, and bizarre enemies... Everything and everyone wishes to take your life, but don't succumb to despair. Between fights your party can take their rest at a fountain, or while on the road in an old church which leaves its doors open to the weary and wounded.
Travel every path and byway of the Valley, obtain new weapons on the field of battle or by fulfilling quests, gather ingredients for magical elixirs and resources to craft armor and amulets. If a certain item is beyond your crafting ability, ask the blacksmith in the Old Church for help. The best gear will allow you to challenge the deadliest monsters.
The souls of many heroes were cursed upon death, leaving them to wander a dark and uncharted world, an afterlife reserved for sinners. Is this the end, or..?
Gather your team. Equip them with weapons, armor, and amulets. Level up your abilities as you move forward. The Sin Lords must be slain.
Sin Slayers features a classic turn-based combat system in the tradition of the best JRPGs, giving you free rein to pit your tactical skills against the wretched inhabitants of the Valley of Fallen Sinners.
Steel yourself. Enemies are everywhere and you will need to make difficult decisions and face dire peril to prevail.
Depending on your choices, the sinfulness of your team will go up or down. If it's high — expect tougher enemies. Whatever might be buried there, is it wise to desecrate those graves? Every decision you make matters, and on the road to the next Sin Lord you will have many opportunities to choose poorly.
Every crusade against a Sin Lord will be unique as every location is randomly generated. Think you know everything there is to know about a fetid swamp? We promise there are new lessons to learn, though they may not be to your liking!
Legends tell of a place betwixt worlds, a region outside time and space called the Valley of Fallen Sinners.
A dense, preternatural fog lays like stinking breath over black woods. What cursed hordes await? Vicious beasts, damned warriors, the undead, and worse chthonian horrors, all with an unslakable craving for new souls to perpetuate their own unnatural life.
This region is for the most contemptible cowards, those who died because of their sins and the darkness weighing down their souls. At one time, they lived as brave heroes across a multitude of worlds, and bards composed ballads to their noble deeds. Until the day darkness flooded their hearts and killed them.
Now regret consumes them, but their souls will find no rest. They are doomed to wander the Valley endlessly, searching for rest, respite, an end to their torture. But they will know no peace until someone destroys the seven seals of the Portal of the Worlds. Only then will the gates open and the damned finally escape their prison...
Truth be told, no one has attempted this before.
