Regional Price Adjustment Notice

This is a notice letting everyone know that the game's pricing will be adjusted in certain regions in early January 2023. The primary reason for this change is the different economic situation compared to 3 years ago, when the game was released. The base price for the game will remain at 1.99 U.S Dollars. The game will be using Steam's updated recommended pricing for other currencies. A similar adjustment will also be applied to the Original Soundtrack. Its base price will remain at 0.99 U.S Dollars. 1.2 Update Overview


(This is a modified version of a blog post from the Cats are Liquid Dev Blog.) Let's start with the two biggest additions:

Speedrun mode


You can do world specific speedruns, or speedrun the entire game from beginning to end. The game gives you a timer and (if you've completed a speedrun of this specific type before) a live comparison to your previous time. Custom packs are also supported, provided that creator has marked it as supporting speedruns.

Challenges


Each official world now has a challenge connected to it! The difficulty of these challenges range from quite easy, to turning the room you're in into a giant puzzle where you need to think very carefully about your next move. Challenges run automagically in the background, so you don't need to do anything special to start them. You'll also get an achievement when you complete a challenge!

New stuff for the editor


There's liquid grates (kinda like those cloud grates, but they require you to be in liquid form to pass through), button prophecies (you can use a prophecy to activate a button, or multiple buttons), Companion activated prophecies, buttons that can be unpressed, and timed buttons. Oh, and some additional tweaks here and there too.

Skippable text


Text prophecies that take control away from you can now be skipped! (Do note that this is just the text, the game doesn't just magically teleport you to the end of the interaction.) This is also supported in custom packs, provided that the creator of those has marked the prophecies as skippable. Skippable text is on by default in new packs.

1.1 Update Overview


(This is a modified version of a blog post from the Cats are Liquid Dev Blog.) Since the 1.1 update is almost here, why not do an overview post looking at the most prominent changes? This isnt a full changelog. That will come later.

Editor improvements


  • Added the ability to rename rooms/worlds/packs.
  • New item palette icons.
  • Undo functionality.
  • Added optional falling void. No more infinite drops into the abyss (enabled on new rooms by default).
  • Lock-on guides for shape points.
  • Improved the editor guide and added more info to it.
  • Instead of having to type the name of a room or world, doors now just have a dropdown menu with all the available destinations.
  • Improved pipe editing.
  • Better recovery for corrupted packs.
  • Tons of editor related bug fixes.

Pack sharing improvements


  • Redid the pack list UI and the pack room select UI.
  • Packs can now have a custom preview image thats embedded in the pack file.
  • Added a pack progression check so that creators can make sure the progression of the pack follows the intended way.
This is just the major editor related stuff. Theres also a healthy mix of performance improvements and non-editor bug fixes in there too. Ive even gone so far as to fix some out-of-bounds-things in certain rooms! I know. Quite extravagant. The plan is to start rollout of the update next week. Thats also when the changelog will get posted!

Cats are Liquid - A Better Place is a 2D platformer about a liquid cat and her friends.

You play as the cat, in a place created just for you and your friends. You get to go on a nice adventure with them where nothing goes wrong and everything is perfect, as long as your friends stay there, right by your side.

Over the course of the game, you get to explore 120 rooms and discover new abilities like the hookshot and light burst.

You can also create your own worlds, and share them with others through the Steam Workshop. All of the rooms in the game were made using the same editor that's included in the game. So if you see something in an official world, you can do that in your own custom world.
