Introduction |
Hi there,
I'm a one band game developer designing and building games on very low budgets. This makes every project challenging, many hours of work but also a lot of fun.
I really enjoyed making this game. I wanted to make a card game but I wanted it to be somewhat different from the other card games out there.
So I decided to make a politically themed game based upon the various groups that have the most influence in modern society. I didn't just want political parties but also influential groups of people such as celebrities and ecologists to be included.
The Dis-United States Of America is the result. I chose the USA simply because it is the most varied society on the planet. And from a practical point of view it was the easiest country to find graphical and audio assets for.
So the game is composed of 9 influential factions. You choose which faction to play and compete against 4 other factions that have been randomly selected. Each faction has it's own card deck.
The factions play cards in two ways. Firstly, some cards are played against the hands of the other players. Secondly, other cards are played in each state of the USA to obtain resources in those states. On the last turn, the game is won by the faction that controls the most states.
Each state has a specific number of People, Land, Natural Resources, Industry and Money. These are based upon actual official statistics for each state.
Due to its political subject matter there are a few card references and images based upon crime, drugs and adult content but these are not explicit images or references.
Over time I may tweak the game to include more cards and more factions.
I also intend to re-use the code base to apply it to other themes such as a medieval/fantasy theme, WW2 theme and sci-fi theme.
Thanks for reading,
Steve
