Development is back on track, and we have a new beta for you to try.
- A tutorial (single player only).
- A Snake game (under 'mods').
- An option for RawInput thanks to Jimbly's SDL patches. This should allow you to use more than 4 Xbox controllers. If you have problems with other controllers you can switch back to XInput, but please still report them.
- A controller test option to see if your controllers are working.
- Other stuff I've forgotten
- Bugs

RetroWar Linux Content [323.62 M]
Game is not tagged as available on Linux on Steam.
Linux is not in the OS list.
RetroWar is a collection of 8-bit retro style arcade games. Currently we are focused on single-screen multiplayer games that you play with your friends locally (i.e. sitting on the couch together.) Most of the games don't have single player mode (If you want single player mode then vote for it in the forums!)
Our UniBlaster game engine is designed with the specs of a 'fantasy' 1980s console, akin to an NES, but with modern standards for framerate, aspect ratio and controller input. It's easily extensible, so you can mod games, mash up different games, or even create your own.
We want feedback from you as to what you would like to play. None of these features are guaranteed, but we plan to work on the features you support.
Games
- Spaceships - vector thrust in the tradition of SpaceWar / Asteroids / Subspace.
- Droids - fast-paced twin stick shooter.
- Tanks - tactical sniping game .
- Bomb Bots - drop bombs to blow up your opponents, but don't get caught in the blast.
- Ghost Jumpers - platform race to be first while jumping over spooky enemies.
- SnakeEaters - the classic snake game.
- Balloonacy - mash buttons to fill your balloon.
