On Monday the 11th of May, the finals of the Bit1 student game competition were held. We pitched The Last Cube to a jury of four judges from large games companies (Zynga, Fingersoft, Supercell, Playstack) who then got a few days to playtest the game. On Friday, the winners were announced: The Last Cube won! This is the first of hopefully many awards for the game, there's dozens coming up during this year despite the tough situation with COVID-19. You can read more about Bit1 here.
One of those upcoming awards is Ludicious, a games festival normally held in Zrich, but this year holding all of its exhibits online. To our great delight, last week it was announced that The Last Cube had proceeded to the finals in the Emerging Talent category! The winners will be announced during the Ludicious X festival which is happening online between 1.-3, of July. The competition is tough so wish us luck! You can read more about Ludicious here.
Finally, we've been hard at work finishing up more of the environments in the levels of The Last Cube. There are 18 main-story levels in total, around 7 of which are nearing completion, with the other ones still missing some core environmental elements. Here are some screenshots of the in-progress levels:
