2 year Naniversary!

I started working on TaniNani during long bus rides between two cities when me and my girlfriend lived far apart. I enjoyed making tiny prototypes during the 3 hours I had to kill. One of the ideas turned out to be something that ended up being TaniNani. I had a lot of fun and knew right away that it had potential. So going back and forth during that weekend I worked a little over 6 hours and in the end I had the mechanics for the first three chapters.
I kept playing around with the idea before putting it on hold because I had to prioritize other things. Then about a year later I founded WhyKev and picked up TaniNani in order to finish the game I believed so much in. I loved sharing gifs of my progress and also live-streamed as I designed levels.
At release TaniNani got featured on the App Store among "New Games We Love" which allowed a lot of people see the game. I got many sweet comments and reviews which made me very happy. It was overall a wonderful and calm moment which isn't always the case when you release a game. Later I started working on the Nintendo Switch port which also got released a few months after the initial release. I sometimes look back at TaniNani from different perspectives such as development and personal. It meant so much to me, I dared to try making it all on my own and focused on working on games that I was more emotionally connected to. I'm proud over TaniNani and how it made people feel.

TaniNani Patch #4

A minor fix for the mouse input and Russian UI boxes should now be updated for certain levels that looked wrong.

  • Moving chunks/tiles with mouse input while game is paused is fixed.
  • Right click on the mouse pauses the game, which allows you to play through the entire game with just one hand.
  • Russian UI box is fixed.
  • Summary text when playing with Russian or Chinese language have updated positions to look more correct.
Take care! Kevin

TaniNani Patch #3

Mouse support is finally here! With that said... there are a few settings that can't be adjusted with the mouse only, but you should be able to fully play through the game and navigate the menu with the mouse only.

  • Mouse support.
  • Fixed a small issue where the grid would appear enabled a few milliseconds before the level slides down.
  • Chapter 2 song volume is reduced a tiny bit.
  • Fixed a text in the outfit section that wouldn't update it's button prompt if a controller was connected.
Until next time, take care! /Kevin

TaniNani Patch #2

Another small fix based on initial feedback from players. This should make the progression for new players a bit easier.

  • First two outfits are unlocked a bit more quick.
  • Chapter 2 is now unlocked at 6 crystals instead of 7.
  • Restart level text in the "summary" screen should now look better in French.
  • Russian translation should now be improved.
  • Fixed a rare bug in the Chapter 4 mechanic.
As always, thank you for the support of my little puzzle game! /Kevin

TaniNani Patch #1

Thank you all for playing TaniNani, I've heard some feedback and I wanted to make a small and quick update.

  • Challenges can now be replayed. If you've finished the challenges on a level and replay the level then the challenge background should be a bit transparent same as the crystal if you've grabbed that and replay the level.
  • Added Russian translation.
  • Updated credits.
  • Removed a debug button that changed the selected language to Chinese.
  • Adjusted pitch on Menu > Chapter > Level. Should be a bit more cute.
  • Chapter 1 song, adjusted volume of the beat.
Another request I've got is that people want proper mouse support for the menus which is currently on my list. Let me know if you've got more feedback! /Kevin
