Born Punk needs your help, dear Bornholmeans!

Hello there!

Some of you may be familiar with such posts: indie devs requesting/asking/begging/screeching for those of you who have already played their game review it on Steam to help it with discoverability.

Well, this is one of those posts!

We're actually not lacking reviews per se - we have 32 already, which is great for a game of our reach. 'Unfortunately', most of these reviews are from our kickstarter backers - which don't count for Steam's review summary that appears on the top of our store page.

Therefore, I'd like to humbly ask us to leave Born Punk a review - it doesn't matter if it's positive or negative. If you love or loved the game, awesome, that makes us very happy (obviously!). If you didn't, we're also happy about criticism to improve our little baby, or our next baby. Either way, reviews from you lovely folks would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for reading, and may Flash be with you!

Falko & the Insert Disk 22 team

Linux and macOS versions now live!

Dear Bornholmeans, and Bornholmeans to be!

I'm happy to announce that we were able to finish our Linux and macOS versions ahead of time; they are now available to be downloaded. This is another great milestone to get Born Punk out to people who have chosen to stay outside the Windows eco-system.

Please note that there is a known issue with Steam: for some people, 64-bit macOS applications are not registering as 64-bit, and Steam puts out a 32-bit warning. That warning can be safely ignored.

And as far as Linux goes; there's a million different distros out there, with a million different configurations. Should something not work right out of the box for you, please feel free to contact us and we'll try to help and/or listen!

Obviously, we hope that no one will encounter any problems whatsoever (hey, one is allowed to dream!), and we wish you a lot of fun in the Born Punk universe.

Cheers and have a lovely day,
Falko and the Insert Disk 22 team

Born Punk has launched!

Hello, everyone!

Today is a day of celebration at Insert Disk 22. After three and a half years, a Kickstarter campaign, applying for arts grants, developing through good times and bad times (globally bad times, that is), and finally trying to shout our name from the rooftops as loudly as we possibly can, it is done. Born Punk is out!

Was it worth it?

Oh, it definitely was. Seeing the first reactions on Youtube and twitch, reading the first Steam reviews, looking at what our kickstarter backers have to say so far... it looks like we did well! Which of course is a tremendous relief; nobody wants their beloved project to meet disapproval, after all. Apparently, that's not a fate Born Punk will have to suffer - and we're happy that the first players are able to immerse themselves in 'Bornholmverse'!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved during the production of the game. Our whole team, our kickstarter backers, the fine people who decided to wishlist our game before release, our amazing voice actors, the Steam support team and so many more! The journey to our launch is now over, and another journey begins. What kind of journey? Well, I hope to be able to shed light on that a few weeks from today.

To you, our players, I extend my gratitude for giving our little game a try. With so many big titles competing for your hard-earned money, and with so many other smaller games like ours vying for attention, it is an honour that you have decided to click on our title.

I wish you a lot of fun in Bornholm, and when you see Mariposa, Eevi and Flash, do tell them we're proud of them!

Have a wonderful day,
Falko from Insert Disk 22

The Grand Born Punk Cyberpunk Adventure Demonstration Stream!

Falko, lead dev of Insert Disk 22, is showing the Born Punk demo whilst talking about the development of the game. Stop by for a chill point and clicky hangout. Here's a summary of our game:

A former combat hacker, a corporate CEO and a malfunctioning android get possessed by mysterious, otherworldly entities and must band together to save themselves and uncover the entities' origins. Talk, puzzle and explore your way through this (often humorous) cyberpunk thriller.

Bornholm. Today, a quaint island in the Baltic Sea. In 2155, a sprawling metropolis able to compete with major world powers. Thanks to the Space Elevator, a technological marvel built by Bornholm's corporate consortium, The Conglomerate, few nations on the planet are more influential both in industrial matters and space exploration.

In Born Punk, the player slips into the role of three people (well, two people, depending on your stance on artificial lifeforms) living on the island: Eevi, a corporate combat hacker turned bartender down on her luck; Mariposa, the CEO of Bornholm's biggest corporation; and a malfunctioning android who calls himself Grandmaster Flashdrive.

The three characters have one thing in common: they all, one after another, get possessed by strange entities of unknown origin and even less known intentions. They must work together - and sometimes against each other - to find out of the nature of those beings, what they want, and why they seem to think that their 'mission' is of vital importance for the future of humanity.

Key features:

* A classic point-and-click adventure experience: we're very proud to feature our own distinct style, but we are also definitely influenced by games like Monkey Island or Beneath a Steel Sky and try to please both veteran afficionados of the genre and newcomers alike with a traditional pixel-art appearance and a streamlined, modern approach to game design
* Movement everywhere: you won't feel like you're walking through a still life painting; Born Punk's world is alive and full of animation, soundscapes and small details to discover
* Choices and consequences: often, it's possible to approach dialogues and puzzles from different angles. As a result, interactions and dialogues with other characters, the difficulty to overcome certain obstacles, and the results of many actions will vary greatly depending on what the player chooses to do
* Full voice-overs: every character in Born Punk and every line is voiced by professional voice actors. Yes, that includes the cat.
* Bombastic music: the main theme and various other tracks are composed by Jeff Kurtenacker, composer of Wildstar and choral arranger of World of Warcraft. Jeff is joined by a merry band of synthwave musicians to create a genuine and emotional cyberpunk/sci-fi soundtrack with a Nordic twist
* Let's be serious, it's funny: Born Punk is science-fiction with heavy cyberpunk influences; but we're also boasting a hopeful, often humorous undertone. Point & click adventures without at least a bit of humour are unthinkable to us!
* A comprehensive universe: there's a slew of background info to read and experience, all of which becomes available in your PDA as you interact with the game world. Sometimes, in-game lore will also serve as an optional gameplay mechanic.

Born Punk Steam Demo is live!

Hello there, dearest hopefully-maybe-soon-customers of this benevolent, not-evil and certainly not dystopian game development studio!

We're happy to announce that the Steam demo of our game is now available to download. To access it, just head over to the Steam store page; you should be greeted by a big green button prompting you to download the demo.

We hope you will enjoy this little peek into how the events that will unfold in the game started. This demo's main purpose is to introduce you to the vibe and atmosphere of Born Punk - it is light on spoilers, and light on puzzles as well. Prior to release, there may be another, more gameplay-heavy demo.

Feedback is of course appreciated. :)

Have a lovely day!

Falko & the Insert Disk 22 team
