The first public Jumpala tournament was a success! We had 8 participants and played 35 games over the course of 3 hours. Most of the participants were new to the game and had never participated in any of our prerelease tournaments. Even so, every player brought their bestthere were so many intense matches, tight plays, and narrow comebacks. I imagine the intensity will only grow stronger in future tournaments.
Congratulations to Timmcd for his victory! Unfortunately, the leader of the Winners Bracket had to duck out last minute, so we didn't get to have that final matchbut that's not to say Timmcd's victory wasn't well-deserved! For those interested in the numbers side of things, here's a look at the character picks and their performance in the tournament:
Bommer had a strong showing this tournament, having been picked twice as often as the next-highest character. Frore and Ribbon were the least picked characters, but they had the highest point averages, and neither character lost any of their matches. (To be fair, Frore was only played in one match, but she took a 3-0 victory!) It'll be interesting to see how character picks and win-rates vary over time! • Reduced Cid's special activation time by 50%

User Experience

• Fixed an issue where Bommer's tutorial could get stuck when using her ultimate without standing on a locked row
• Fixed an issue where the in-game Invite dialog would continue to show in a private online lobby
• The Steam Invite dialog no longer appears automatically at the start of a private lobby, but can be manually triggered

It's time for another Jumpala update! This is a pretty big one, and probably one of the last as Jumpala gets closer to its release. Here's what's new: Solo Rankings You can now see how well you did in Solo Mode! Once you beat all your opponents, stay tuned after the credits to get your ranking.
The full version of the game will record your best stats for each difficulty.
Three New Maps Baron Industries - Be careful, there are a lot of dangerous lasers in this one.
Crystal Cavern - Watch out for falling icicles!
Arata City - This stage is narrower and a little higher than the others.
Introducing Jenny These stages can be a bit tougher than other stages like Proving Grounds or Twilight Canyon. One bit of feedback I've received is that some of the harder stages can be overwhelming and a little discouraging for new players (looking at you, Onclave Labs). To alleviate this, harder stages now have to be purchased with Jenny. You earn Jenny by completing matches, either in solo mode, local versus, or online. Beating solo mode rewards bonus Jenny, as does winning an online match.
Jenny is only available in the full version. Private Lobbies The full version of the game now supports private matches! You can invite your Steam friends or send them a lobby code. Bug Fixes and Balance Changes

• Stages will now be shuffled in online matches
• In online matches, the local player will now always appear as P1 on their screen
• Training mode no longer ends after death
• Training mode no longer stops after 200 points
• Decreased shift jump lag
• Reduced freeze duration of Frore's Ice Blast by 30%

I've been hard at work on getting Jumpala ready for release, but it's been a while since I've pushed a new version. In addition to a ton of bug fixes and some balance changes, two new features have been added!
Practice mode You can now practice on stages without any other players or CPUs! Pressing pause in Practice Mode will let you change the stage speed and your current meter.
Stage Banning On the Stage Selection screen, you can now ban stages to prevent them from being chosen via Random. Balance changes - Reese no longer builds meter while in Hyperspeed - Some platforms on Space Station have been adjusted - Increased land stun while shift jumping There's a lot more in store, so stay tuned!

Jumpala's a fierce action puzzler that's heavily influenced by fighting games. It's about quick thinking, good positioning, and mind games. Jump on platforms to turn them your color and collect points before reaching the top. Build your Special Meter to activate your character's special moves and gain the advantage. And whatever you do, don't fall off the stage!

Her ultimate grants her invisibility for a short time. While invisible, she'll be invulnerable to all damage and steal double the points! Bug fixes and balance changes:

• Reduce Reese's ultimate duration by 20%
• Slightly increased hitbox for Lola's ultimate
• Fixed a bug where players would occasionally not fall when Bommer detonated their platform
• Cid's ultimate now travels through portals and laser triggers
• Games will no longer end in a tie; instead, additional rounds will be played until one player wins

Dr. Time has the unique ability to manipulate time, without being affected himself. His special, Slow Time, will slow down time while allowing him to move normally. Use this to escape danger and beat opponents to items!
Dr. Time's ultimate will stop time completely, giving you a chance to move around the stage at will. You'll be invincible for as long as time is stopped, so use this as an opportunity to claim as many platforms as you can!
Dr. Time's time-bending abilities have an effect on his body. This means that all time-based effects, good or bad, last a little bit longer when applied to Dr. Time. For example...
Items effects take longer to wear off. That's great! However, if you die, you'll take longer to respawn. It also takes longer to unfreeze after being frozen. Be careful!

This patch introduces a few small but significant balance changes:

• Slightly increased Frore's movement speed
• Reduced the number of startup frames Frore's Ice Blast
• Increased Bommer's Special Cost from 4 to 5

It's been a long time coming, but it's finally time to announce a new character! Introducing Reese, Jumpala's fastest (and furriest) competitor! [previewyoutube=M4fOlKb_i74;full][/previewyoutube] Not much is known about Reese's backstory. When he appeared at Javelin Stadium to announce his desire to compete for the championship, the judges' first question was how he gained the ability to speakto which he replied, "If you think that's impressive, just wait until you see me in a game!" While Reese is naturally quicker than other competitors, the contraption on his chest enables him to move at extremely high speeds.
