Hope you're having a great New Years! The Year of the Tiger is coming. I've now updated Dear Devere with a new version. Changes from the previous version:
- The font.rpy file's programming lines were edited to (hopefully!) resolve the issue some players reported having with the translation (loading saves would sometimes show an error message).
- Angela's line in the first letter ("Eliza does not like me. God knows why she joined the reading group. If she dislikes me so much, why join in? It's beyond me.") has the line "It is beyond me" changed (in the text) to "It's beyond me" to match the voice acting better.
- Version number updated from v1.4 to v1.5. As before, the Steam version of the game is updated with an extra .5 (v1.5.5 in this case) due to the Steam's guidelines requiring different credits.
- Ren'Py engine (used to make the build) has been updated to version 7.4.11.2266

I'm very excited to make a new announcement: Dear Devere now has a Simplified Chinese translation!
I'm been working with the translation team EchoriverTranslators. The translation is purely for text: It translates the in-game and menu text, and keeps the English voice acting for all the lines.
Version 1.3 of Dear Devere includes not only this new language option, but also tweaks some interface and typo issues. I've listed all changes below:
Edits Specifically Regarding the Translation:
- Added Language setting to the Settings menu. Includes English and Simplified Chinese (S Chinese).
- Settings Screen: When the game's language is set to S Chinese, the OpenDyslexic and Dejavu Sans font options are replaced with S Chinese-compatible fonts.
- Credits: Credits screen and animated credits now include credit to the translation team.
- In-Game: S Chinese translation includes alt text descriptions that translates the text in the artwork.
- Main Menu: Added an alternate main menu image that adds a translation of the game's title directly below the English title.
- Edited the programming I used for the Main Menu's buttons to fix a text alignment issue when you hover over the text buttons (I'm really happy I was able to figure out how to solve this issue, EEEEEEEeeeeee).
- In-Game: Fixed an issue that centred the text alignment of the textbox's mini menu buttons (located directly to the right of the textbox). This is not noticeable for players using default text, but helps with text placement for those who use alternate font options in the Accessibility menu.
- Setting Screen: Added a text button that makes it easier for players to open the Accessibility screen.
- Return Button: Edited text alignment (not noticeable for players who use the default font settings, but useful for players who edit the font in the Accessibility menu).
- Help Screen: Fixed text alignment issue in the Help screen that used to appear when the player had a gamepad plugged in.
- Help Screen: Fixed text alignment issues. Moved the "V" button info to the bottom of the page as a work-around to help resolve the issue.
- Credits: Declared the title of the game in the animated credits earlier, rather than under the init line (this visually doesn't affect anything on the player's end. It just ensures that the game recognises to display the translated title of Dear Devere when the language is set to S Chinese.
- Version of the game updated from 1.2 to 1.3. The Steam version has been updated to 1.3.5 due to the Steam version requiring different credits.
- New build of the game has been made with an updated version of the engine Ren'Py (version 7.4.8.1895).
- Log Screen: Added a "substitute False" line to the script of the game's Log screen to make the game compatible with an update of Ren'Py (Version 7.1.1-onward).
- Font Files: Changed the font file name from BASKVILL.TTF to BASKVILL.ttf (uncapitalised file name extension) to make the font file more recognisable when zipped.
- Font Files: Removed fonts that weren't used in any released version of the game (these fonts simply came with the GUI template).
- Inconsistency issue fixed: Changed the two instances of "1937, Scotland" to "Scotland, 1937" so that the formatting of all the titlecards are all consistent.
- "Skakespeare" (with two Ks) fixed to "Shakespeare" in the alt text (for players who turn on self-voicing in the Accessibility menu) in Act 2. (Artwork was kept as is because I don't like how changing the k to an h makes the lines no longer parallel.)
- "Bond fire" changed to "bon fire" during Act 3.
- The was an extra space between the words "ancient temples" in the Epilogue. Extra space now removed.
- One instance of the word "by" in the Credits screen was missing the letter b (showing up as just "y"). Now fixed.
- Typo in the Easter Egg file fixed.
- Windows version now also includes a 32-bit option.
