This version of the game was upgraded with a modern UI look and interface. However, the classic minimalistic black design is fully supported, too. Various long-standing bugs in the classic version were fixed and all gameplay features were backported to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the release of the first public version.
Features include:
- Multiplayer - Shared screen multiplayer is available. Join your friends or play against them.
- Custom Game - Tired of playing the base game? Start a fully custom one. Each of the gameplay variables is open for tweaking around in this mode.
- Four hours of music - An incredible electronica soundtrack by Jeremy Rice of Curious Inversions and Introspective fame, known by the fans of the original game.
- Classic Mode - Full classic mode graphics and UI included. Relive the nostalgia.
- Investigators - These irritating investigators never cease to vex the cults, bringing the additional challenge.
- Sects Management - Using manual micromanagement or an AI advisor, these, erm, devoted groups of unsuspecting people will help you reach your nefarious goals.
Hi, everyone.
It's been a long time since I've posted anything here. The title says it all really. If you wanted to purchase Evil Cult and didn't for some reason, just wait for a month and you can have it for free. The reason is pretty simple: the game has faded into obscurity as is the way of most games and I'm not willing to spend more time working on it. Currently, I have Parasite to work on (which will likely become free as well at some point) and I've wanted to start the work on my third Steam game for about two years now, give or take. But since Parasite is not released yet, I have to finish it first.
One final note: the game is and always was open-source. The Github repository is there and is easily findable. If you're a programmer and want to have some fun, be my guest. The game uses a clean HTML/CSS/Canvas Haxe code which is compiled into Javascript and runs in Electron (in a Chrome browser pretty much). There are no outdated frameworks, nothing like that, just barebones HTML document for UI and canvas for the map. It should be easy to have a working build pretty quickly.
Thank you, everyone who bought the game, I hope you've had (and have) fun playing it!
