Piece Together Jessikas Broken Psyche in New Developer Diary

The tragic story of Jessika will soon be known to all the thrilling investigative Full Motion Video (FMV) game will launch on Windows, Mac, and Linux via Steam next Tuesday, August 25, 2020. Today, publisher Assemble Entertainment shares another behind-the-scenes developer diary and this time, we take a look inside of the titular characters troubled psyche through the eyes of her creators. In the developer diary, TriTrie Games developers showcase how the team did extensive research to find the right actress to portray Jessika. The developers explain how the current political climate and real-world events helped shape the story of Jessika, which ultimately led to the perfect casting. From the beginning, the TriTrie Games team had a vision: portray Jessika as a completely normal person and find someone who perfectly embodies this vision. While more than 50 women from all over Germany applied for the part, it was theatre and film actress Lisa Sophie Kusz who took home the leading role. The team explains how Lisas creative freedom allowed her to take an active role in various creative processes. As Lisa became more and more familiar with the project and the character, she was able to add extra depth to the emotional passages of the game. "We didn't want to portray Jessika as a complete psychopath, but rather, someone completely normal and capable of expressing themselves," said Sarah Abouzari, Programmer, TriTrie Games. Dear Jessika,

I have so many questions…so many questions that are haunting me since…then. I know we had lots of dissensions in the past. And sure, I have to admit that I wasn’t the best father there is…everybody has his faults and his crosses to bear.

Anyway, the important thing is, you have to learn from your mistakes. But right now, it’s too late for redemption, too late to say I’m sorry. There’s no way I can put right the terrible wrong that I’ve done – because of what you did and for whatever reason you did this. All I can think of is: WHY? Was this your last resort? If you would’ve talked to me, we could’ve found a remedy, a way out…somehow.

I can’t blame you for keeping silence and a low profile. I can only blame myself. No matter what others will say, for my emotional well-being, I want to – no, I have to find out what happened and what made you do this.

I hired professionals that will be able to bring light into the darkness, inquiring your whereabouts and examine your intentions. And maybe, but just maybe, they can ease my conscience. At least for the time being.
