Update 1.1.0
[ 2020-09-19 09:40:43 CET ] [ Original post ]
Hello everybody! We are happy to announce our first patch with bug fixes, quality of life improvements and some small content as well! Of course, we'd like to thank all of you for the support and, above all, for playing and enjoying our game. We love all of you! Now, let's talk about the changes.
Bug Fixes
- Addressing the audio bug (game suddenly going silent). Since the game release, we received some reports on this matter [strike]that we already knew about but didn't knew what to do[/strike], and now it is reduced to a point where it's ultra rare. You might never experience it now, it might depend on your hardware, we are not sure.
- Audio clipping. We reviewed all audio files in the game and fixed all possible clippings and artifacts. Clippings are not constant anymore, but might happen in some intense parts of the game depending on your hardware.
- Secret keys sound effects bug. One sound effect in particular wasn't being affected by the sound effects volume settings. It is now.
Game Improvements
- New animations for the player character. Added a list of new animations that makes the player feel more agile and alive.
- New menu for mapping gamepad controls. Now you can map an action on more than one gamepad button to better use of the remaining buttons. By default, all buttons on your controller do something now.
- New master volume bar. We added a master volume bar on top of both the sound effects and music volume bars.

Charge Kid is a game where each jump is a puzzle. You can compare it to Portal, where you have to find clever uses of the mechanics and physics to "solve" each location by reaching the desired location. You have limited resources to make each jump, comparable to Celeste. But instead of focusing on precision-platforming, the game focuses on the puzzle aspect. Unlike Celeste, the hard part is figuring out how to use your resources to make each jump instead of the execution. But don't get fooled; the execution is also hard, which means finding each solution is even harder!
Features:
- Tight controls and fluid movement.
- Challenging gameplay.
- Puzzles with multiple solutions.
- Cute and minimalistic pixel art.
- Slick sound effects and music.
Charge Kid is open source (and free!)
You can see the source code by clicking at the website link at the right of the page. It was made with the Godot Engine, and you will need to download it in order to access the code or to make a playable build, in case you want to play it before paying anything. While the game is free, you can still buy it here to show us your appreciation ;)MINIMAL SETUP
