Art Contest WINNERS!!
[ 2020-09-14 23:10:47 CET ] [ Original post ]
For those of you seeing this game for the first time, it's 100% FREE and super-fun! We've crammed all the charm we could manage into the music and animations, we even created our own rudimentary drawing program inside the game's Main Menu which was the focus of this event.
Here's all 5 winners for the #NEARDEADline art contest in order, their prizes have been sent out already, but we wanted to highlighted these super-special entries! We tasked out players to create an art piece using the in-game drawing tools and limited color palette within the game's Main Menu and this is the Top 5.
1st Place Winner ($80 Prize)
Artist: @Stelamoris1
This one was a unanimous choice between us, it's original, it uses the limited palette for a great combination of colors, it has a nice perspective, and it has that canvas art feel that makes it really appealing to look at.
2nd Place Winner ($60 Prize)
Artist: @snailpirate
A nice homage to Evangelion in the composition, not to mention the details in the thin lines that require a fair bit of patience to get right.
3rd Place Winner ($30 Prize)
Artist: @Glob_Gallery
An amazing monochromatic composition of a city drowned in clouds, this one won a lot of points for originality, exelect use of white space I might add.
4th Place Winner ($15 Prize)
Artist: @BenSalerno
We really like this one because of how many adorable creatures are jammed in this composition, it looks as though they're gathering to take a picture, it just looks fun to be there.
5th Place Winner ($15 Prize)
Artist: @WildsStuff
We love the concept that someone used Bob Ross' tutorial to draw this on the program, what it loses in originality it gains back in execution with the landscape.
We had some other really nice entries so be sure to check out the hashtag on Twitter and Follow these Individual artists. If they can do this well with our limited tool, they must be incredible with their preferred one!

Originally made over the course of 37 consecutive full workdays. Don't crunch kids, we only did because the project was fun and the thrill of creating is what makes me happy :)
- Nick has slept approximately 164 hours since production started
- Brandon has consumed 127 cups of coffee during the production of this game
- Mike exported the same 9 songs too many ****ing times before they looped properly
- Work began late at night in July when Brandon committed to teaching Nick how to program
- There are multiple endings! Well 2 good ones and a baaad
- Play around in the main menu: it's got a full fledged drawing program with some secrets!
The drawing program built in the menu is fairly primitive with a basic brush, erase, clear, and screenshot tool. Depending on your CPU the game may lag with too many dots on screen.
W and S move your left paddle.
Up and Down move the right paddle.
Hit Space to slow time to your advantage.
Gamepads are supported!
If you're on a laptop and the Arrow Keys are too small try a Mouse or Trackpad on the right side! You can also use I and K instead of Up and Down.
