We are thrilled to be able to support WDC in this year's Jingle Jam!

WDC has been incredibly lucky to be a Jingle Jam featured charity since 2016 raising over 1.6 million for our vital work to protect whales and dolphins across the globe from the many threats they face.

The incredible support from the generous and passionate Jingle Jam community has had a huge impact on several key areas of our work.

Jingle Jam 2021 helped to fund our innovative project to reduce entanglements of whales here in the UK, and urgent work within the Faroes to end the cruel dolphin hunts.

This year we are so excited to share that we are planning to use the funds raised from Jingle Jam 2022 to support our work in Scotland, with three vital projects:

Shorewatch is WDCs citizen science programme aimed at inspiring love and understanding for whales and dolphins by collating sightings of whales, dolphins and porpoises from the Scottish coast. We will support more young adults (18+) to participate in the Shorewatch programme and engage with nature, inspiring them to learn about the ocean and champion better protection for whales, dolphins and the planet.

[h3]Scottish Dolphin Centre educational exhibition upgrade [/h3]
Enhance our exhibitions with interactive displays and experiences to provide more exciting educational opportunities for visitors as well as encouraging support for our ongoing campaigns. We will also make the exhibition more accessible, thus allowing a wider diversity of children and people of all ages to enjoy and learn about whales and dolphins, and how to better protect the ocean and the planet.

Chemical pollution is devastating the ocean and its inhabitants and has put an entire population of orcas living in Scottish waters at risk of extinction. WDC will undertake research and develop a campaign to drive positive changes to chemical legislation to protect whales and dolphins and stop species from becoming extinct.

Were happy to announce that the latest update to Space Crew is now available!

This time, weve focused on a few areas that have been highlighted in the great feedback weve received from the community.

Firstly, weve added a range of new Events and Encounters to punctuate missions with more variety and surprises. In addition to this, the Comms Station has received upgrades in the form of a new Hacking Function and Mission Map.

Youll have more control during combat in the form of the new Custom Waypoint and Prioritise Target functions accessible when in Tagging Mode.

Lastly, weve added MK3 Weapon pods to complete that ultimate loadout.

There are also a few minor improvements and additions, which weve listed below.

Once more, thanks for all your feedback and suggestions, theyve been enormously helpful to us as we work to enhance the game.

[h2]New Events and Encounters[/h2]


Youll encounter cosmic phenomena such as Ion Storms that may cause intermittent power outages (Weve added the ability to quickly repair the effects of EMP on the ships reactor, so this can be combatted).

Youll be confronted with Meteor Showers that bombard your shields and hull, and Neutrino Flares that can damage systems and spark onboard fires. You may also encounter a Passing Radioactive Comet, which will bombard your crew with radiation, calling for a hasty escape from the sector.


Strange Phasmid Artifacts may be encountered, such as the Phasmid Beacon, which will summon Phasmid forces if not hacked in time. Another hackable artefact is the Phasmid Comms Relay, which will broadcast a self-destruct signal to all enemy ships in the sector if you can keep your cool and successfully hack it while under attack.

Every so often, you may find a discarded Phasmid Wormhole Drive floating in space. Once hacked, these can provide a useful shortcut through the mission. Be careful, as these drives are unstable, and you may end up stuck in the wormhole for a duration, along with some very annoyed Phasmids!


The Phasmids have been busy establishing more outposts around the Galaxies; take out their shield generators and hit their reactors hard to obliterate them.

And be wary of the new Phasmid Frigates, which have been tasked with scanning sectors for UDF craft, ready to jump in and attack!


UDF Aid Stations will provide much-needed respite - simply land at them to replenish your crews health and recharge your med bay. But be on your guard, some of these outposts have been overrun by Phasmid troops!


As the war for the fate of Earth rages on, youll encounter Ongoing Space Battles that require your assistance, and plenty of debris left in their aftermath.

[h2]Custom Waypoints[/h2]


You now have more control over the heading of your ship, thanks to the Custom Waypoint feature. Just enter Tagging Mode and follow the prompt to point your ship in the desired direction. This is extra useful for ensuring your gunners have the best angle on their targets.

[h2]Prioritise Targets[/h2]


Another new feature accessible in Tagging Mode allows you to specify a tagged fighter as the priority target. Use this to take out key threats such as Phasmid Docking Craft and Drone Carriers.

[h2]Return Crew to Stations shortcut Panel[/h2]


A handy set of shortcuts that allow you to quickly get your crew organised in a crisis.
There are options to Return Idle crew who are not engaged in an action to the nearest appropriate station, Return All crew to the nearest appropriate station even if theyre busy, and the option to Save Stations for all crew and then Return to Saved to get everyone back into their saved seats.

[h2]Comms Station Hacking Function[/h2]


Larger enemies and some artefacts can now be hacked! Simply tag the hacking marker to get in range, then initiate hacking via the Comms Station. Youll need to tap out the correct sequence of symbols to successfully complete the hack. The required code may be received from the target during the hack, or in some instances be found marked on the target object. Codes can also be found and stored by scanning Phasmid Code Banks which may be found floating around in space - these will make hacking a breeze.

Are we there yet?
You can now open a map of the available sectors during a mission. While the map is open, the action is paused to give you some time to get your bearings.

[h2]Mark 3 Weapon Pods[/h2]


Weve added top-tier versions of the Missile Launcher, Autocannon HE, Particle Beam, Railgun (this ones a doozy!) and their combo variants.

[h2]Minor Fixes and Improvements[/h2]

• Improved impact effects when the most effective weapon type is used on a target. (e.g. Plasma Cannon vs Shields, Missiles vs Armour).
  
• Sectors in the briefing room map can now be highlighted to show more information.
  
• The ships reactor can now be repaired to recover from an EMP burst sooner.
  
• Ships Reactor status UI now shows an EMP effect.
  
• A button to access the Space Crew Discord server added to the Main Menu.
  
• Low Oxygen damage no longer affects crew in the med bay.
  
• Added an option to change the volume of the crew Jabber.
  
• Extended the range of camera movement sensitivity for controllers.
  
• Prevented weapons from firing during switching.
  
• Added flash effect for enemies jumping into the sector.
  

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick update to let you all know that we're still hard at work on the next update to Space Crew.

Amongst other smaller bug fixes and improvements, this update will include a range of new random events to keep your crew on their toes as they go about their missions.


You'll encounter strange Phasmid artefacts, fearsome enemy Frigates, the respite of UDF Aid Stations and possibly a wormhole shortcut or two!


The Comms station will receive a new Hacking function, allowing your crew to activate certain alien objects, and even disable systems of larger enemy craft and structures.


While in Targeting Mode, it will now be possible to set a custom waypoint to follow and to choose a tagged enemy as a priority target for your gunners.

There will be many more improvements including more Mark 3 weapons, and a handy panel with options to quickly get all your crew to return to their stations.

We'll publish a full list of changes closer to this update's release.
In the meantime, we're working hard to get this update into your hands as soon as possible.

Here's an overview of what's included in our first batch of changes to Space Crew:

We've made a range of adjustments that should help alleviate some of the more frustrating situations during missions, such as improving the chance of gunners landing their shots on enemies, shield recharging being less hampered by taking hits, and many other adjustments.

We've also added a range of new difficulty options, so you can find a balance that suits the challenge you're looking for.



We've added a 'Casual' difficulty setting for those looking for a less bumpy ride, and a 'Panic Stations!' mode for those who are breezing through the game currently and want more of a challenge.

You'll also be able to dispense with tagging enemies if its not your thing, with the Automatic Tagging modes, where the game will tag enemies automatically, so you can focus on managing your crew.

There is an option to either switch off, or give yourself Unlimited Slow Time, so you can get some more time to think in the heat of battle.

The final option in these settings is...

You can choose to recruit a seventh crew member aboard, to serve as an additional gunner.

Thank you all for your support of Space Crew so far! We really appreciate all your feedback, and it's great to see so many of you playing already.

It's dangerous out there in space, so we'd like to share some tips & tricks you can use to make your ride a little (or a lot) more comfortable.

Even in the Runner Duck team, we all use very different approaches when playing through the game, so please feel free to share your own in our forums, We'd be really interested to know what's worked for everyone playing the game so far!

• Use your abilities
  Crew abilities are essential. If your ship is taking a hammering, use 'Evasive Piloting'. You can also use this to prevent a docking ship from being able to line up, to buy you some time. Got a few fires or repairs to do, but there's a lot going on? Try using 'Stealth Mode' to give yourself some time. Use your engineer's "boost" the reactor and put more energy in to your shields or weapons!
  
  
• Prioritise repairs
  Repair your engines (don't forget a space suit!), oxygen generator and reactor as soon as you can!
  
  
• Be prepared for boarders
  Maybe you've seen the ship coming in the distance? Maybe you've heard its docking sound? Get someone ready in advance, and you'll be rid of those Phasmid boarders before they can even start to cause any chaos.
  
  
• Equip your ship with some thought
  Make sure you've got enough med kits! Be sure phase rifles and extinguishers are placed near where you'll need them.
  
  
• Get your Security Officer on the guns
  Either the front gun, allowing quick access to the security station (for shield replenishing or going in to stealth mode), or the middle gun with a phase rifle nearby for taking out Phasmids.
  
  
• A fourth gunner
  Want someone else on the guns, too? Your engineer or comms officer are both strong candidates for this. If you're mostly using non-energy weapons, your Engineer can work well. If you're using energy weapons, you may want to have your Engineer using their "boost" skill to allow you to put more power in to your weapons. Or, you can move your Comms Officer to the front gun, allowing them to quickly hop back to their own station for route planning.
  
  
• Don't worry if you fail
  Replacement crew & ships improve as you go through the game, so you'll never be left with total rubbish - but it may be wise to take on a few low risk missions if you lose everyone.
  
  
• Escape pods
  Put them on your ship and use them. If everything's gone wrong, there's a good chance of recovery (plus getting the XP gathered so far in the mission). This may also open up rescue missions for crew that don't return immediately.
  
  
• Take the safest route
  If you're not confident yet, take the safest route.
  
  
• Take the fastest route... at your own risk
  OK, you've got a decent crew, a decent ship... you know your abilities and skills like the back of your hand. Maybe your crew could do with a bit more combat experience? Go fast!
  
  
• Go home
  Don't be afraid to "Abort" the mission (abort button is on the Captain's station). Med bay gauge empty? Out of med packs? Don't think you'll survive another battle? Try to go home - you'll get the XP you got so far, and keep your ship and crew.
  
  
• Alien artifacts & cargo pods
  You can scan or retrieve these for some extra spending resources... but, be careful - perhaps the Phasmids are tracking them...?
  
  
• Repairing engines
  Remember a space suit. Oh, and don't use evasive piloting while your crew member is trying to balance on the engines (If you do, though, you can always tractor beam them back in!).

With this sequel to Bomber Crew, we took inspiration from some of our favorite sci-fi stories and tropes and were thrilled about all the support we have received so far from the community. As a small team of three people, seeing the excitement coming from players across the world as they start playing is a genuine tonic.

Space Crew moves from Bomber Crew's WWII stage to the far flung future with players challenged to fight a conflict on an intergalactic scale. Armed with their own carefully chosen crew and fully customisable spaceship, captains must protect Earth and venture across the galaxy to stave off a new alien threat known as the Phasmids.

It's time to trade in that bomber jacket and suit up for some snug red velour as the multi-million selling, critically acclaimed strategic simulation game Bomber Crew is getting a long-awaited sequel!

Were delighted to announce Space Crew - the next instalment in the massively successful Crew series. In this brand-new entry, players are tasked with defending Earth against a mysterious new alien menace by carefully recruiting crew members, designing their own spaceship and venturing across the cosmos!
