New logo!

Calm down. This is a small update. Some players used a really difficult solution for W04L01, so I made the intended solution more obvious. Also, I updated the logo to the new version.

Aloof wil join Steam's Remote Play Together Event the moment of release!

At the moment of release, Aloof will be part of Steam's Remote Play Together Event. This event celebrates this very nice feature which is still pretty unknown. Using Remote Play Together, one player owns and runs the game. Others can be invited to play the local multiplayer modes online! Play Aloof's co-op campaign with a friend online using Remote Play Together :D

Testing AI by playing against itself (real time)

How does this work?

Each match the AI is randomly generated from these parts: - 4-ish different ways to obtain Islands - 4 ways to do attacks (from small combo's up to combo's of 5) - 5 different tactics for when to repair an Island - And a random chance to do some other tactics (to surprise the opponent)

Can I play against this AI in the game?

Yes, you play against a randomly generated AI when playing "Practice Online". This mode is the same as playing online but instead of an other player, you play against this random AI.

Dev plays the demo and explains stuff

Aloof is a puzzle battler, like Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo and Puyo Puyo Tetris, but plays completely different. In the world of Aloof you summon and defend small islands all the while you build combos against your opponent. Please also note that the game is not done. 24/7 realtime AI versus AI matches

What am I looking at?

Aloof is a puzzle battler, like Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo and Puyo Puyo Tetris, but plays completely different. In the world of Aloof you summon and defend small islands all the while you build combos against your opponent.

Who is winning?

It might be important to know that Aloof has multiple win conditions. You win when: - you own all the available islands (the shapes in the sky become islands) - you sink all of the opponent's islands - when the timer runs out and you did the most total damage - or if you manage to sink the opponent's boat

How does the AI play?

I don't really know. Each new match the AI is randomly composed from: - different ways to obtain a single or all islands - different ways to make combos (small or big) - many different reasons to repair his own islands - and maybe the AI will try and take a risk to sink the opponent's boat Please also note that the AI is far from perfect and the game is not done. Enjoy :) For more information about the game and the Online Adventure mode go to https://www.pressbuttonx.com For news and updates you can find me on Twitter: @pressbuttonx And don't forget to wishlist :)

In Aloof the pieces don't descend by themselves and you can even move up! Not happy with the pieces in your field? You can flush them away by holding the flush button. The game isn't about zoning out. It's about responding to your opponent, taking your time to think and move fast when you can!

It's dangerous to go alone

  • Full solo or co-op campaign with puzzle levels, matches versus AI, rescue missions and bosses! (offline)
  • Beat the online adventure by defeating 3 opponents in a row, but lose and start all over (online 1v1 or 2v2).
  • Or practice the online adventure against AI opponents, get familiar with the levels and tune your tactics (offline 1v1 or 2v2).
  • Play against your friends in 1v1 or 2v2 matches (offline).

Your plan at your pace

  • Move pieces left, right, down and up! Pieces don't descend by themselves. Take your time to think, and move fast when you can!
  • Not happy with the pieces in your field? Just flush them away by holding the flush button.
  • You can switch between 2 fields. So you don't need to mess up your amazing combo if something else needs to be done first.
  • (and there's no garbage from your opponent)

Keeping online alive

  • Play the game while searching for an online match.
  • Find opponents all over the world. The game is designed for a high ping (600ms)
