Jumpala now has a release date! You'll be able to download the full version of the game on January 19th, 2021! Wishlist now so that you can get it as soon as it's released.

I'm also excited to announce that Jumpala has a publisher! The awesome folks over at Versus Evil (The Banner Saga, Pillars of Eternity, Cardpocalypse) have jumped on board to help make Jumpala a success.

It's time for another Jumpala update! This is a pretty big one, and probably one of the last as Jumpala gets closer to its release. Here's what's new:

Solo Rankings
You can now see how well you did in Solo Mode! Once you beat all your opponents, stay tuned after the credits to get your ranking.


The full version of the game will record your best stats for each difficulty.


Three New Maps
Baron Industries - Be careful, there are a lot of dangerous lasers in this one.


Crystal Cavern - Watch out for falling icicles!


Arata City - This stage is narrower and a little higher than the others.


Introducing Jenny
These stages can be a bit tougher than other stages like Proving Grounds or Twilight Canyon. One bit of feedback I've received is that some of the harder stages can be overwhelming and a little discouraging for new players (looking at you, Onclave Labs). To alleviate this, harder stages now have to be purchased with Jenny. You earn Jenny by completing matches, either in solo mode, local versus, or online. Beating solo mode rewards bonus Jenny, as does winning an online match.


Jenny is only available in the full version.

Private Lobbies
The full version of the game now supports private matches! You can invite your Steam friends or send them a lobby code.

Bug Fixes and Balance Changes

• Stages will now be shuffled in online matches
  
• In online matches, the local player will now always appear as P1 on their screen
  
• Training mode no longer ends after death
  
• Training mode no longer stops after 200 points
  
• Decreased shift jump lag
  
• Reduced freeze duration of Frore's Ice Blast by 30%

It's time for a new character: Introducing Ribbon!

Ribbon's normal special will steal points from other players on hit. (Cid mains hate her!)

Her ultimate grants her invisibility for a short time. While invisible, she'll be invulnerable to all damage and steal double the points!

Though Ribbon is not playable in the Tryouts edition of Jumpala, you can still face off against her in Solo mode. You can also play through her tutorial.

Bug fixes and balance changes:

• Reduce Reese's ultimate duration by 20%
  
• Slightly increased hitbox for Lola's ultimate
  
• Fixed a bug where players would occasionally not fall when Bommer detonated their platform
  
• Cid's ultimate now travels through portals and laser triggers
  
• Games will no longer end in a tie; instead, additional rounds will be played until one player wins
  

Balance Changes:

• Reduced Lola's end lag when missing by ~14%
  
• Increased Lola's hit window by 25%
  

• Fixed an issue where playing a solo or versus game would cause desyncs when playing online afterward.
  
• Profile settings will now be reapplied on game startup
  
• Fixed a bug where changing profiles after a match would cause the game to hang
  

Hope you all have been enjoying Jumpala: Tryouts Edition! I've been blown away by the positive reaction its received.

The primary feedback that I've received is that the CPUs are just too dang tough, even on Easy difficulty. It's not my intention to demoralize players straight out of the gate, so both the Easy and Normal AI difficulties have been reduced. Hard mode hasn't been changed, though, so try it out if you're looking for a challenge.

Jumpala: Tryouts Edition is now available on Steam!

Jumpala is a competitive high-stakes puzzle battler that's all about sabotage, superpowers, and stage control. Jump on platforms to claim them and collect points when they're destroyed. Use your character's unique abilities to get an edge in battle. Make sure you don't fall off the stage!

The Tryouts Edition lets you play as the initial four characters and stages in 1v1 mode. Both online and local multiplayer are supported.
