Development Update

Hello Guys,

Its certainly about time for a small developer update. Sorry for the radio silence for so long; we must have lost our heads in the madness ;)

2021 will be an exciting year for Haiki as he continues the search for his lost body. If youve already tried the demo during one of our recent events, then youll know what the game is all about: fast-paced, limb-free platforming that just feels good.

MINOR SETBACK
The pandemic has impacted development just a little, but thats to be expected, and weve not slowed up. In the face of new and unexpected challenges, coming up with new ideas for some of the latter levels cannot have been easy. But thats exactly what Richard has been doing over the most recent few weeks. Right now, hes working on several harder chapters that are, unsurprisingly, a bit more demanding from a design perspective.

Creating levels that are fun but also unique, responsive, and bug-free is obviously a top priority. Haiki can be difficult but, at the same time, incredibly rewarding when played right.

ALMOST THERE
With 23 levels left, were nearly three-quarters of the way there! Most of the remaining work is from the third major area. Richard also teased a really good idea for the final part of the gamean excellent finisher. Check out our social media to see more.

The story planning itself is complete, so we now have a clearer picture of where Haiki is going. The cutscenes are another big part of Haiki that are still currently under wraps for now. More on that soon!

On the audio side of things, the games sound is in production and should be ready to share with you in a matter of weeks. Join our Discord to be the first to hear it.

MAJOR IMPROVEMENTS
Over the past few weeks, Haiki has seen some major additions and improvements:

  • New and exciting levels have made their way into the game.
  • Our bodiless heros motion trail has reached its final form.
  • Spikes have received a little extra highlight to help players avoid confusing them with platforms. (Youll still die a lot, albeit for different reasons).

2021 is looking up for our brave, decapitated hero. Keep an eyeand a headout for more updates and announcements very soon!

Stay safe,
Alex and George
