Pooling Fixed (Again)

What did I say just a few hours ago? Seems like I never do anything fully right the first time. I removed the life time from enemies so they no longer are destroyed (deleted) after 2 minutes. This was causing an issue where the pool would stop filling if enemies were not killed.

List:
1. Pooling fixed (again) enemies no longer are deleted after 2 minutes which would remove them from the pool permanently (stop spawning them if not killed)

This is definitely true with code, seems like I never do anything fully right the first time anymore. Objects were not returning to pool correctly, which results in no enemies spawning after a while. This has been fixed. Also enemy movement have been moved to a FixedUpdate like player movement was to prevent it being tied to physics or FPS.

Short list:
1. Pooling fixed, enemies now returned to pool (correctly) and are like-wise able to be pooled again. This is a method to re-use objects instead to creating new ones every time an enemy spawns.
2. Enemy movement fixed, no longer tied to game physics or FPS.

So when you start making bigger games you realize all the things you did wrong in your smaller games... I've (successfully this time) added object pooling which will increase performance and reduce crashes. But mileage may vary between PC's.
Movement speed is finally fixed. The problem was not using a FixedUpdate with deltaTime, this was a simple error on my part for not understanding physics yet fully. Also camera flashing has been fixed on game start. And I removed the 300 fps frame rate limit.

Here's a short list:
1. Player movement no longer tied to FPS (higher fps was making the player slower!)
2. Object pooling added for all standard enemies, this should help performance
3. 300 fps limit removed when v-sync is off
4. Red flash is now enabled on game start, use pause menu > camera FX off to disable this setting

I added a feature to reduce crashing which destroys the enemies after a certain period of time. However, now that the main cause of crashing has been fixed (clamping the spawn rate) I've decided to increase the lifetime from 50 seconds to 2 minutes. This should allow for better combat and higher scores.

Machine Gun Sprite Added | Bugs Fixed

. Machine gun unlock now gives the player a new gun sprite to represent the new gun.
2. Text changed to represent that the unlock is indeed a machine gun, as well as upgrading the extended clip to x5 ammo instead of x3.
3. FPS counter added.
4. 300 FPS max limit added. (This will stop the game from stressing out your computer a little.)
5. Fixed a bug where player kept shooting while game was paused in the shop.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT! Game Updated: Removed Bad Code, Added Social Media Links

Hello children!
Today I've got special news. Due to this game crashing around the 30-45 min mark... And the fact that changing the spawning system would break the wave system... I've decided to make a entirely new game to replace this one!

Why can't I just fix the spawning system?
Answer: The code used to make this game was from a very cheap asset... The code is from unity 5 but running on unity 2019. This means the code is very confusing, hard to find tutorials or documentation on code that's 5+ years old. I'm also more familiar with newer unity versions.

When will it be released?
Answer: I'm not 100% sure. Its still in very, very early development. I've got a prototype but I'm not 100% sure I'll end up using it. I anticipate a launch by December 2021...

Lastly, this update was just a simple code fix. I also added social media links on the main menu.

PS. I noticed we already have some cheat engine users lol. There's not much I can do about cheaters posting high scores besides removing them manually. I'll leave it up to community input as to weather obviously cheated scores should be pulled or not.
Personally, I don't care. The leaderboard will have to be reset when the new spawn system is made to make things fair. I might look into implementing anti-hack too. But again that's up to the community's input.

Code Check - Several Bugs Fixed

Fixed:
1. Several scripts I wrote probably half asleep. Removed lots of bad code
2. Reduced the GUI text for leaderboard to 0 pixel to avoid accidentally uploading to the wrong leaderboard (sorry) for some reason using normal, aka modern, UI on the leaderboard breaks it in this game particularly.
3. Fixed "Shoot Gun A" Achievement, sorry I broke it 2 updates ago.
4. Performance code applied to more of the game

Spawn Rate Tweaked, Player Logs Disabled.
Spawn rate was reduced one last time. This should make it possible to reach max achievements on any difficulty! However it won't stop the game from crashing eventually... It should DOUBLE the time played as the spawn rate has been split in HALF. This means less furries spawning per new wave. This will be my last attempt at fixing the game before completely overhauling the spawning system. Which may take several months.

Spawn Rate Update. Version 1.3 Is Out!

So to keep this short. I increased the spawn rate by double, but I also increased the spawn max on easy, medium, and hard. I excluded very hard as it seems better with double rate.
This being said, it SHOULD make the game more exciting without having to wait 20-30mins for more furries.
However it may impact achievement progress. Hitting wave 50 should be possible on easy mode. Hitting 1 million will still be a trick. I think I may increase the score amount globally to try to help with that issue next update.

Performance Improvement Update!

So first off, I reduced the spawn rate per wave by 66.6666 (Repeating of course) percent!
Second off, furries will de-spawn after 50 seconds. This seems shot but its actually not that short, as each wave is 40 seconds. Leaving 10 seconds to kill the remaining furries before you will have to click the "next wave" button.

With that being said there's really not much more to it. You should be able to hit higher waves now. Unfortunately I lost my game tester. I'm hiring a personal friend in 2020 to help with game ideas, testing, and level design. He actually thought of the idea for Endless Furry Killer 2020. We already have our next game planned. However, I need to finish "Don't Crash - The Zombie Game" first. Hopefully it will launch in February 2020.

Also I wiped my entire desktop and forgot to backup my game art files. So sorry if the fonts don't match well as I lost those too.

These achievements should be extremely challenging. If no one reaches wave 50 achievement within a ample amount of time (a few months maybe a year) I will make it easier to reach it till someone has gotten it. Good luck, your king Arthur pulling the sword out of the stone if you get to wave 50!
