We are so excited to finally announce our first ever DLC. We've partnered with the Hall of Fame wrestling legend Rob Van Dam to bring his character into The Mean Greens as well as his signature taunt.

We have some very exciting news to share with everyone. Yesterday, The Mean Greens sold its 1 MILLIONTH copy on Steam! You read that right, weve sold over 1,000,000 copies of the game thanks to the absolutely incredible support everyone has shown throughout the years, especially during our dollar sales. This is a truly monumental milestone that not many independent games get to experience and we couldnt have done it without all your amazing people whove helped spread the word. Patch 1.32 - Hot fix

We're launching a quick hotfix patch to fix up some issues that came up with the 1.31 update. With this update we are also rolling out our first iteration of our banning system. If you come across someone cheating show us some proof in our Discord Channel and we will ban them from EVERY server (as well as prevent them from hosting matches). Below is a list of the changes/fixes that made it into this patch.

Patch 1.31 - Improvements and Bug Fixes

Thank you to everyone who's provided feedback and the overwhelmingly positive response to our latest content update. Today we're launching a small patch to fix a bunch of the issues that were found and improve on some of the systems already in place.
We've made a lot of improvements to the bots in the game, including a way to disable them if you would like to play with only your friends. Bot pathing has been completely reworked so they will no longer get stuck if they get knocked off the path. Raptors also see some improvements that should level the playing field against those tasty humans. To disable bots on your dedicated server simply add the following code to the launch options: -NoBots When hosting a p2p match simply untick Allow Bots when starting the match. Below is a list of the changes/fixes that made it into this patch.

- Added the ability to turn off bots in hosted games and on private servers - Added logic to bots so they can react to taking damage (provided they don't have a closer target already) - Added Raptor health regen

- Made the vote counter larger if the map has any votes - Moved reload text up away from crosshair and made text smaller - Tightened Raptor sprinting turn radius - Increased Raptor attack radius - Improved lighting in all Toybox maps - Improved lighting in all Off the Rails maps - Adjusted bot's run away mechanic. Patch 1.3 - Bots, Maps, Sale and SO much MORE!

You've all been waiting so patiently but it's finally here! The Mean Greens content update, and boy is it a good one!

BOTS!!!!


The big news of course is that BOTS are finally available in The Mean Greens! Bots are automatically added to any team deathmatch or free for all map. During online play bots will autofill servers and leave as players join in. We're still tweaking the bots so please give us your feedback on how they're performing so we can continue to improve them.

New Maps


In this update we've added new maps as well as new versions of old favorites.

Jurassic Plastic


The first new map is called Jurassic Plastic. In this team deathmatch style map where a team of soldiers must fight against a team of toy raptors. At the end of the round the teams swap places.

Picnic Panic


Drop in from the sky in this team deathmatch style map that takes place on a picnic table during an Independence Day celebration in the park. Beware though, bugs have invaded this picnic so you'll have to stay on your toes to survive.

New Map Gamemodes


We've also created Team Deathmatch and Free For All versions of our current maps. Some of these maps are the same as the current versions, others are slightly altered and some are completely reworked for these game modes! Toybox Assault even gets a capture the flag game mode!

Ranks & Leaderboards


This update also sees our ranks and leaderboards implemented. Ranks are increased as players gain more and more experience, and are the perfect way to show everyone how skilled you are. Work your way up from Private all the way to Commander. Then check the leaderboards to see how you stack up against your friends.

New Characters


5 new unique soldier characters have been added to the game and we've also added the ability to choose which character you spawn as in the new Customization menu.

Optimizations and Bug Fixes


Throughout development we have been making massive improvements to the optimization of the game with some maps seeing significant frame rate improvement. Complete systems have been reworked to be more efficient and overall the game should run much smoother for everyone.

To celebrate this massive update we're running another massive sale! From March 16th 2020, 10am PST - March 20th 2020, 10am PST you can pick up The Mean Greens for only $0.99! That's right, we're doing another Dollar Sale! This will be the LAST time we will be offering this ultra low price! First off we wanted to say thank you and welcome to all the new players that picked up The Mean Greens during this most recent sale.
Today we have launched another quality of life update to the game improving a lot of things throughout the game. One of those things we've improved is the translation of the game in several different languages. With the help of some amazing members of our community we've been able to fix a lot of the issues in our continued effort to make the game better for people worldwide. We're also happy to announce that we've been able to add Portuguese to our list of supported languages. As usual we are still working to improve the languages and will continue to update them as we make progress. Below is a list of the changes/fixes that made it into this patch.

A lot of the levels have seen upgraded lighting and optimizations and we've added the ability to dodge roll backwards and diagonal sprint (pressing A or D while sprinting forward). With this build we have made some changes to Toybox Assault that may potentially fix some of the lighting issues we're seeing on some Linux machines. First of all, we wanted to say thank you so much to the massive influx of new players. The response has been far better than we ever could have imagined!
With this new update we are fixing some minor issues and adding new features to our server systems. Players can now host their own private matches with only their friends by ticking the Invite Only option when they Host a Match. We are working on adding the ability to password protect dedicated servers, this will come in a future update along with more improvements to our server hosting files. We have also made some improvements to how the server's update the server list. We are also talking to some server companies about getting more servers up to help with all the players looking to join in a game. If you get a message saying that a server is full or lost connection to the host, please try again, it's likely that multiple people are trying to join in the same server at the same time. UPDATE - hotfix patch is up, this should resolve the invite issues Below is a list of the changes/fixes that made it into this patch.

That's right, with our latest patch we're bringing back the server browser! This is something we've been wanting to bring back for quite a while and we're glad we can start off the new year by fulfilling a fan request.
In addition to bringing back the server browser we're including the files needed to host your own Mean Greens server. How do I run my own dedicated server? I'm glad you asked, it's easy. Simply run the HostServer.bat file that's located in your install directory and that's it! We are also looking for server companies interested in offering The Mean Greens servers so please message me if you are interested. EDIT We're uploading a quick hotfix patch to resolve a couple minor issues we noticed. Please restart steam to grab the new update and restart your server if you're hosting one. We are excited to be launching patch 1.19 today*. This new update brings a TON of backend improvements and changes but I'm sure the most exciting thing will be our brand new map Halloween Hustle!
*Ok, after a whole bunch of tricks tonight, it's time to enjoy some treats. The update is now live. Enjoy Halloween Hustle is an exciting new map set on an outside porch during Halloween. This is a team deathmatch map with AI controlled skeletons thrown in to keep everyone on their toes.

Bot Update


As we mentioned in our most recent news post, we are diligently working on adding bots to The Mean Greens and we are making progress and we are looking at a tentative release of early 2019. We will of course keep everyone posted as things progress, the best place to stay up to day is our Official Discord channel so be sure to join the community.

Other Changes


Patch 1.19 brings a bunch of other changes and additions to the game you already know and love! We have made a lot of changes to our particle VFX including a brand-new flamethrower effect that really is hot! A few new taunts have also snuck into this build too so be sure to check them out. We have also made a lot of back end improvements to the game, we upgraded the engine to version 4.20 and added some additional checks and improvements to our networking system. The ball in Barnyard Ball has been completely rewritten making it MUCH smoother and more reliable. Throw in a bunch of performance improvements and bug fixes and you've got a patch we're pretty pumped about. We hope you enjoy this update and thanks for playing! Attic Attack and Sandbox Showdown and temporarily being removed from the map list as we revamp the vehicles. We're making a LOT of improvements to them and these maps will return as soon as they are ready.

We are excited to be launching patch 1.18! This patch brings with it a brand new map! Introducing Lazy Hamster, our new payload style level. Work with your team to get the hamster into its cage. Patch 1.17.5 Hotfix Update


We just released our 1.17.5 patch for The Mean Greens. This is mostly to fix some issues we've had as well as add in some optimizations and improvements we've made while blasting some bugs. Below is a list of the changes/fixes that made it into this patch.

Patch 1.17 - New Maps and Big Changes

Attic Attack



You'll be hitting the ceiling in no time with these enemy planes! Dodge and maneuver through this cluttered antique-filled attic. Once you get the barrel rolls and firing down, it should be plain sailing from there!

Sandbox Showdown



Don't keep your head in the sand or your soldier will be saying good-bye in this sandbox showdown! Stay on the lookout, with each team having their own squad of vehicles, it becomes easier to travel across the map at faster speeds! So grab your ride or die and plan some sneak attacks! Patch 1.17 is more than just a pretty new face, we've made all kinds of additions and improvements to the game! New Dynamic Server System system built on But that's not all! Patch 1.16 - Engine Upgrade, Fixes and Improvements


We just released our 1.16 patch for The Mean Greens. This patch features a lot of improvements and bug fixes! First and foremost we have upgraded our version of the Unreal Engine to 4.14. This brings with it a vast array of bug fixes and performance improvements. This patch also fixes all of the known issues that players have been experiencing, such as chat issues and scoreboard problems! The patch also fixes the issues we have been having with achievements not working properly, which I'm sure a lot of people will be very happy to hear. Below is a list of the changes/fixes that made it into this patch.

Changes:


- Upgraded engine to version 4.14 - Completely revamped animation system - Lowered lobby timers saving 20 seconds between games, for a faster experience - Improved Mac performance - Added support for OSX Sierra

- Fixed achievements! Patch 1.15 - Bug Fixes and Updates

We will soon be releasing our 1.15 patch for The Mean Greens. This patch consists mostly of bug fixes and some behind the scenes improvements. We are also proud to announce that we are part of the Humble Unreal Bundle!

Patch 1.14 - Fixes, Fixes and More Fixes!

Patch 1.13 - Engine Upgrade, New Characters Taunts!


Today we are releasing the v1.13 patch for The Mean Greens. This update includes several bug fixes as well as some exciting new additions to the game.
With this patch we are releasing 3 new female characters into the game along with our new taunt system. You can finally tease your friends in game with a quick press of the V key (This will be rebindable in a future patch)!

Patch 1.12 - Mac and Linux Launch


Today we will be releasing patch 1.12! We've got a lot of big changes with this patch. First and foremost we are adding support for Mac and Linux operating systems. We're very excited to bring The Mean Greens to these platforms and to further allow players to melt plastic on their favorite platform. We have also made a lot of major changes to our server system; fixing major bugs and changing how the system works. As a result the in game server browser has been removed; simply click Play Now and our matchmaking system will do the rest. You can still create a game, using P2P or our dedicated server system, and you can still invite friends to join you or your party just as before! Here is the changelog for this patch:

- Added Mid Game Reservation System - Fixed a memory leak relating to reflection captures on servers - Fixed flamethrowers causing network lag and server crashes - Server browser, Join game and Invites will now request a reservation from a server before attempting to join. Reverting to 1.5

We had some issues pop up with 1.6 after we rolled out the patch that didn't show up during beta testing. We've currently reverted back to 1.5 until we can sort out these issues. We will try to get this sorted out as quickly as possible and we are sorry for any inconveniences this may have caused.

Patch 1.6

Networking Changes:


- Added Mid Game Reservation System - Fixed a memory leak relating to reflection captures on servers - Fixed flamethrowers causing network lag and server crashes - Server browser, Join game and Invites will now request a reservation from a server before attempting to join. This will prevent server full dialogs and make sure the server is reachable by the client - Join game and Party system now favor player count instead of ping

Gameplay Changes:


- Bazooka does more self damage but is instant kill on direct hit again - Chat default binding is now the enter key - Sniper headshot hitbox matches the shape of the characters more closely - Start without Bazooka ammo again with a cooldown of 45 secs - Melting Animation is 50% faster and will not trigger in mid air - Removed exit button from escape menu, too many people triggered this expecting the main menu but ended up closing the game - Flamethrower damage lowered - Sniper Rifle is now 3/6 instead of 3/3 at spawn - M-16 slightly more accurate - Shotgun has slightly more spread

Achievements:


- Achievement backend system rewritten to prevent reset of achievement progress - Shark position is now replicated to clients to make it easier to get Ride the Shark achievement

Bug Fixes:


- Shotgun reload fixed when jumping on jello in Operation Birthday - Fixed candles appearing unlit for mid game joins in Operation Birthday

Maps:


- Operation Birthday and Fishtank Frenzy stuck spots fixed

Networking:


- Temporarily disabled join game (It's currently being reworked) - Added random vote to server lobby - Increased timeout to prevent loss of host in case of extreme packet loss

Keybindings:


- Added movement bindings - Added weapon quick select bindings Note: This change may effect your current custom bindings

Weapons:


- Rocket launcher now has 60 second cool down - Rocket launcher direct hit damage is now only 90 - All other weapon cooldowns are also at 30 secs now - Crosshair is no longer hidden during jumping - New crosshair for shotgun and flamethrower

Networking:


- Remove party reservations for people who leave server, fixes phantom players not allowing team change - When returning to lobby clear reservations of those who left mid game so those who took their space are not kicked - Advanced sorting of the join game sessions so that the player is put into a populated server with low ping instead of a populated server with 200+ ping - Placed a additional check to clear reservations before kicking players to ensure kick is correct. - Fixed party leader in party screen - Lowered player wait timer to 30 seconds - Lowered match timer to 10 seconds - Stopped log spam to prevent memory leaking

Maps:


- Barnyard hay darkened so tan players are easier to spot - Art table stuck spots fixed - Tabletop small geometry fixes

Patch 1.2

Server Updates


- Added Australian servers. - Added servers with increased max server player cap for dedicated servers. - Players can now sort the server list by name, map, server type, ping, and number of players. - In an effort to lower latency for players in areas where we do not have dedicated servers, players can now host their own P2P servers more easily from the Create Game menu with new dedicated buttons. - Increased visibility of Join Server dialog in the Server Browser menu - Join Game now only adds you to servers with atleast 3 players in them. - Servers will no longer accept more players than their cap.

- Jumping and dodging no longer uses stamina

  • What does a bathtub, sunken boats, rubber ducks and a giant octopus have in common? The Mean Greens Bathtub Bash that’s what! Hop onto the floating rubber ducks and ride to the sunken ships in the middle of the map. Avoid crossfire, grab a flag off of the ship, and carry it to your base. The team with the most flags at the end of the round wins.


  • It’s game night! As The Mean Greens battle against each other in an all-out paper-craft war, more than dice will roll across this table. Go head-to-head as tan and green teams fight for control of the city. The objective is simple, be the first team to reach 30 kills.


  • Even a beautiful aquatic adventure has its dangers. Run over aquarium décor and capture flags in sunken ruins as you square off in an underwater playground. Fight your way across the duel bridges to steal the flag that sits in the sunken temples.
    This map puts a whole new twist on the traditional capture the flag mode with its “Low – gravity” action and captivating nautical theme.


  • It’s full on war to conquer the countertop in this decked out kitchen! Push the other team’s cup off the counter and destroy their only way to zipline into your territory.


  • The mood is a bit chilly as you fight your way through this food-filled freezer. Everyone melts the ice cube in the center to get to the lower level, and then it’s a mad rush as you try to free your frozen dinosaur before the opposing team releases theirs.


  • This train is leaving the station with or without you! Enjoy this Christmas themed level while you travel over holiday sweets to claim your capture points on this nostalgic toy train. It’s tug-of-war, as both tan and green teams battle back and forth to maintain control of all three capture points.


  • This farm style soccer match is a new take on Foosball that you’ve never experienced before. Shoot, blast, and push the ball into the enemies’ barn to score the most points. Don’t drop the ball and watch out for the moving 3-rod pigs and cows.


  • Got game? Explore a colorful world on top of chessboards, boxes, and racetracks. Hold the center of the map in this traditional King of the Hill game mode. Just don’t get hit by the other team or the racing cars.


  • It’s birthday time, but the other team is full of party-poopers that don’t want the festivities to begin. Fight your way up the cake and start the celebration by lighting all the candles on each layer. The attacking team must jump from the gelatin launch pad and onto the multi-layered cake to light each candle. The defending team must fend off the other team’s attempts to light each wick until time is up.


  • Turn the tables on your opponent in this death match. Be as crafty as you can to survive and mark your territory. Perfect the art of combat and chalk up those points to make it into the Champions Circle!
