Winter is coming soon, so white down will be added to our production. What can snow bring with it?

However, what distinguishes it from rain is the intensity. You can come across a light dry dust or a real blizzard. Therefore, a shelter should be built for such accidents. It is worth mentioning that the roof will fully protect you. So that it is not boring, snow can be together with rain. Currently, snow is only a visual effect. Devlog #24 Rain system

Greetings Architects!



We'll talk about rain in this devlog. Let's start with the fact that rainfall is not only a weather condition, but it has more effects than you think. What do we mean? Thanks to the procedural actions, our rain creates wet surfaces. This gives an interesting visual effect that makes it feel very real. When it attacks one spot, a puddle appears. Moreover, when the drops hit the surface of the resulting puddle, they do so with greater force, which makes their dynamics significantly different from other surfaces. [previewyoutube=G5KqAVvhDHQ;full][/previewyoutube] If you decide to build a place to protect against rain, e.g. a roof, you do not have to worry that something will leak on your head. You will not get wet to the dry thread. Small details are also worth mentioning. When rain meets the wall, it will run off, similarly to glass. For now, this is mainly a visual effect that may be developed in the future. Remember to take an umbrella with you in such situations. See you next time. Devlog #23 Unreal Engine 5

Greetings Architects!



In the last devlog we showed you the possibilities of our modular system. Today we come to you with something completely new. The work is still ongoing and we have a few new products for you that have appeared recently. Our entire game has been ported to Unreal Engine 5. What does it mean? Hence, the transition of this engine will provide players with a real lighting experience. The in-game day and night cycle will become more natural. It is worth adding that the light will not have a large impact on the smoothness of the game. Players will not have to worry about frame drops. To add even more possibilities to the game, everyone will be able to design lighting according to their preferences. Devlog #22 Modular system

Greetings Architects!



It's been a while since our last devlog, sorry for that! We're currently working on technically sensitive issues, so most of our attention is focused on developing the game and testing new mechanics. We would like to unveil the secret and demonstrate to you modular snapping and building system! We wanted players to be able to take care of the dcor in peace, without complicated mechanics. Thanks to these mechanics, building and matching interior elements will be much simpler and more affordable to the players. Now everyone will easily be able to become an interior decorator. Use your creavity and match the cabinets to each other, as well as place flowers on them, thanks to which every interior will come to life!

Devlog #21 Status Update

Greetings Architects!


We are currently in the heat of development as we have reached a demanding period in game-making, and our keyboards are on fire. Mechanics and visuals are slowly getting together, and the results look promising.
We are exceptionally content with how lightning works and looks in the game so far and it will be only better as we are not accepting anything below "jaw-dropping" quality here!
As the game grows, new ideas appear, and various experiments occur. The original idea of making a game where we have our own construction company and build more and more stuff until we gather enough resources for true wonders of architecture was excellent... on paper. At this point, we feel like it's not exactly a direction we want to explore further as it feels bland-ish the more we look at it. Worry not, though, as we have a cunning idea of how to put more soul and expand this concept to underline the Dream in Dreamhouse :) The basics will remain the same. Players will make glorious or not creations together with all tools possible provided. What will change is the setting and lore. It will be discussed further in future Devlogs as design work is in progress. Meanwhile, we would like to share more creations as our building tools are getting better and better.
We also will change the form of Devlogs a little to fit the new setting better, so don't be surprised :)

Devlog #20 Building Editor

Greetings Architects!


Recently we were focused on the building editor. It's going through many experiments regarding how exactly it will be possible to build anything in Dreamhouse. Who needs the freedom of building when it's too hard to build something after all?
Good lighting is crucial for the perfect placement of the dreamt house, and we need to make sure all shadows behave and not try to kill us.
Simultaneously a lot is happening in the back-end of the system. Snaps, grids and other useful tools are constantly improved. The new addition to the procedurally generated goodies: Stairs.
The idea for a system of stairs in Dreamhouse is to quickly build basic stairs by dragging them from menu to level. The number of stairs will be adjusted to the height of rooms. Stairs placed in this way will allow us to introduce a flexible mezzanine system. Devlog #19 "Locations"

Since we have come back from our little green trip, it's time to check where We will accomplish our projects. Dreamhouse: The Game is a multiplayer game and there is a great need to have huge area buildings so You guys can fill it insides with awesome design ideas.
We are not going to stop You from building such constructions by Yourselves. It's going to be costly, You will need some help from other people, but it will be worth it.
We will populate Los Angeles with such pre-made buildings to make step stones for gathering resources for truly majestic buildings. We need smaller tasks to level up our construction company anyways.

Today we rest from the dust and dirt of the construction site and the too coldly set air conditioning in the office. Today we are enjoying the sun.
A perfect house is not only its interiors and garden. Its a view, location and atmosphere

Devlog #16 New Soundtrack, Inventory UI and Models

Greetings Architects!


Today we want to share two new samples of our game soundtrack. We adapted it to the style of other UI windows we presented before. It means a clean and quite minimalistic UI style with a nice outline of the currently selected items.
Currently, we are busy designing levels for missions in our game. It might appear like typical level design stuff but remember. All levels will work on the same principles as the entire building system. It means all walls are destructible, paintable etc. in all desired places as it might be a little weird to hammer the bedroom wall in a mission where You were required only to decorate a garden.

Devlog #15 New Models

Greetings Architects!


Currently, we are busy with the delivery mechanics in the game. Items ordered from CoolTool's shop won't magically appear in our inventory. Instead, Delivery Place will be on each construction site from where Players will need to pick up stuff. We believe it will add an extra gameplay and resource management layer to the game.
But this is subject for another time, another Devlog. Today we want to share some new models implemented into the game.
Details matter. Dusty floor. The client won't be happy if we leave it like this.

Devlog #14 Steam Top Wishlsit! New Banner Design, Soundtrack and Screenshots!

We are happy to share the good news with You. This week, Dreamhouse: The Game hit Steam's most anticipated games list. On behalf of the entire studio, I would like to thank the whole community for this achievement! steamhappy
Not so long ago we have shared some of our characters concept arts. Today we present two of the characters done together with a new banner design, which will be extended to all our Social Media and Steam in the coming days. Soon we are going to overhaul our Steam Store Page to show better what is our game all about. Dreamhouse: The Game is a single-player/multiplayer FPP builder&designer game with story and tycoon like mechanisms. People who want to build and relax will be able to do just so, but we have some ideas for more competitive gameplay :)
For example. Mission with building a Lighthouse. We can start as a team, and we have set time to make the Lighthouse of Alexandria look like a candle. The game will have a built-in Score system that will put Your efforts on Leaderboard. The second Score system will be based on Community rating so prepare Your Photo Mode Skills to advertise Your creations well ;p For this task, we have several building systems prepared and more than 10 000 models of objects planned with the possibility to add Your own objects to the game. We were talking about some of those systems in several previous Devlogs, and more are coming. Object manipulation Grid and Scale systems Blueprint Explanation Another brick in the wall Design Interface Long story short, we aim for Dreamhouse: The Game to allow maximum building freedom while still keeping this a fun cooperative game. Devlog #13 Design Interface

In recent weeks we've put a lot of work into making Dreamhouse as accessible as possible. We have discussed and tested various UI solutions. Generally, we chose transparent minimalism for our User Interface. All options should be clearly visible, understandable at first sight and fast to use.

Some examples:


Furniture colour changing:
Yep. Full-colour scale for many elements of furniture and not only. Rope generator:
Perfect for tree-houses, useful everywhere. Books generator.
There is no Dreamhouse without an in-house library. Change my mind We have introduced a grid system here. It's fully customizable and can be well-fitted for current tasks. Now we have added the currently chosen grid visualisation.

Devlog #12 Details Matters. Character Concept Arts.

Apologies for the small delay with Devlog. Currently, we are focused on many details inside the game and the complex system of mutual detection of objects. (fully automatic detection of the closest distance between objects taking into account the lowest points of the objects + tolerance... more about it in future Devlogs :))
We are pleased to say that you will also find the physics of liquids in containers here. At Dreamhouse, we take care of the smallest details. For example, in the image below, You might see the UI of the optional advanced book placement options.

Devlog #11 Books, Neons, Ivy and a Little Fish

In the last devlog we were talking about curved walls and the Metahuman tool. We are still improving those mechanics and learning about Metahuman. It is a powerful tool for creating character creation, but it is still an early version. We will need to create our own systems to implement it into our game, so more news about it later. Currently, we are working on several cool mechanics which will allow truly outstanding creations. [olist]

    Devlog #10 Kitchen Furniture Models and Curved Walls

    In the last devlog we were talking about walls and floors building system in its early version. Currently, we are busy with testing and bug fixing said system and further expanding its capabilities.

    Devlog #9 Blueprint system explanation

    Greetings Architects!


    In the last devlog we were talking about walls, bricks and a blueprint system. Currently, we are still working on improvements to said system by increasing its possibilities and making it more user friendly. This blueprint system allows us to be very flexible during the creation. It includes manipulating size, the various axes in space, fitting, auto-fitting, and distancing construction elements to another and more. We discussed the Grid and Scale system in more detail HERE. We believe it might need some explanation of how it's supposed to look like in the end by the example.
    In Dreamhouse: The Game, we are playing as construction entrepreneur. To build a single wall with a door and window, we will need to go through few steps: [olist]
  • Create a project of a wall with a blueprint system. Since we want to have a door and window in a said wall, we need to leave holes to fit them.
  • Buy materials in the shop or take it from our magazine (material storage will be a thing to countermeasure demand&supply. We want to earn money in this game)
  • Recieve said materials on the construction site.
  • Move material and fit it into a blueprint. We skip the construction process's nuances to focus on the design and tycoon part of the game.
  • Realise we forgot to make a hole for a window - take a hammer and make it (we lost money on material this way, so be careful! Mistakes cost)
  • Continue the process with the possibility of making walls like this and more[/olist]
    We can shape the size of a brick in the wall. There will be a possibility to remove a chosen brick. The construction system will be further developed and improved in the upcoming months.     Devlog #8 - Another brick in the walls, a lot of walls

    In the last Devlog, we talked about the additional possibilities implemented into object movement mentioned in Devlog#5. Today a few words about the wall system and floor system. All grid settings mentioned in the last Devlog apply to walls and floors for the best possible precision of our Dreamhouse size and shape. Long story short, we will allow players to go wild with freedom of creativity.
    You will be able to freely remove any brick from this wall or its selected part. The same rules apply to... Advanced floor system. So far, it allows Player to create floors of any size from any materials purchased in the store. Depending on the selected material, the Player can create a floor with precision to one centimetre. The accuracy of large elements will be down to a meter. This system's interesting part is the possibility to create blueprints first and fill them with chosen material later. For example, the Player will select the corner of the room, drag selection to another corner and the game will fill the blueprint for us with live effect visualisation. With the blueprint ready, all left is to choose material bought from the shop.
    and since we are talking about buying materials, let's talk about...

    Supply and Demand


    Dreamhouse is the game. It has career and sandbox modes. A career in this game will set You up as an ambitious Design&Constructions company owner. No Dreamhouse ever grew from peanuts, so Player will need to earn money by accomplishing quests alone or in cooperation mode. The Supply and Demand system is one of the balance tools for economic part gameplay. Overall You will notice some tribute to Old Tycoons of various series veterans placed in Dreamhouse: The Game. We will talk about it when more parts of the project connect. This will allow us to prevent some potential gameplay exploits in the future and encourage players to think and experiment more with their creations.     Devlog #7 - Grid and Scale System, models, work in progress.

    In the last Devlog, we were talking about the in-game shop and measurement and building tools. Today we will push the subject forward. Our measurement and grid tools are quite powerful, but the possible scale of its usage by Players is...unmeasurable. Imagine You just bought 200 garden gnomes or 300 lamps (or both for the most fabulous garden gnome party ever). Now You want to lay them nicely every 2 meters, one from another, because of social distancing. It sounds like hell out of work, isn't it? Don't worry. We have got you covered. You can put the grid on a 2-meter setting and just happy spam your stuff around with pinpoint precision. You can check how its work in the video below.     Devlog #6 - Shopping Time!

    Greetings Architects!


    In the last Devlog, we were talking about various objects manipulation, and today we will find out where we will be able to buy stuff we can later manipulate. Desand Games Studio proudly presents CoolTools, our games returning company.
    At first, we wanted to use Woodzone style shop, but Arthur said otherwise, and he is the one-man majority in the vote. He was right, though. This style suits Dreamhouse: The Game more. Since Dreamhouse: The Game will have a ridiculous amount of various models and players will be able to add their own, we need a convenient shop to use and filters a lot of filters. Players will be able to filter furniture by price, type, style etc. We are still working on how stuff will be delivered and received by Players, but we can promise: IT WILL NOT JUST POP UP IN YOUR INVENTORY. Delivery, Inventory and logistics management can be part of the fun as well :) Shop wisely. Dreamhouse: The game is an architect and designer simulator game, it cannot be missing precise measurement and building tools.

    Feng-shui intensifies. With those tools, Players will be able to create their Dreamhouses with 1:1 accuracy. Meanwhile, we are preparing and implementing new models. The subject for today - beds!     Devlog #5 - Objects Manipulation.

    Greetings Architects!


    In the last devlog we have been on a little trip to Los Angeles, and today we should enjoy the carnival!steamhappy
    estimated casualties are:
    • 3 cases of cola and 500+ cups of Caffe per developer
    • 849 keyboards - one per Unreal Engine crash, we have ordered military-grade keyboards now and stop counting.
    • Arthurs hat as he ate it. Now he looks ridiculous and running from the camera.
    We had no time to prepare Carnival content. But we were able to implement some fancy coded mechanics to Dreamhouse: The Game and now we want to share it with You. [olist]
  • Interpolation and Extrapolation - long story short it will allow smooth multiplayer experience. For those more interested in the subject there is an excellent video on Youtube explains it further.
  • A dynamic crosshair has been added;

      Attraction


    • attractor visualisation;
    • attraction taking into account the type of object (a hat can be put on the head but not on foot, etc.);
    • polarity of attraction - so the flower can be put into a pot but not into another flower or ceiling, or fridge doors;
    • smooth animation transitions;
    • blocking of attraction to an occupied slot has been added;
    • taking into account the current rotation of the object when attracting - if the item is turned sideways to the slot the game will not offer to attract it;
    • the possibility to attach several objects, which will be taken into account by the game as one;

      Lifting and rotating of objects


    • added dynamic holding distance based on object size;
    • added protection against physics errors and launching into space;
    • added dynamic centre of grasp based on the centre of mass;

    Devlog #4 - City of Los Angeles where Everybody is Welcome

    Greetings Architects!


    In the last devlog we were talking about sounds in the game and we shared our character creation progress. For now, there is no further update in a subject as work is still in progress. For that today we will take you on a trip. To Los Angeles, where Everybody is Welcome
    Yes this is Los Angeles reproduced with 1:1 scale detail, say hello if You can see Your living place This map was created with the power of the almighty AI system will be used as our in-game map. All missions, our Architect Office, points of interest and tradeable properties will appear here. The map will not be freely explorable, but your surroundings will depend on your location, so if you buy an apartment in one of the skyscrapers you will see the view very similar to a real place, the same goes for a small house in the suburb. We thought its good idea for Player to know what points of interest are around the property so we marked it on the map as well.

    And since it's Los Angeles it looks best at night



    Or rather it will look best at night. Most of the graphical tweaks are still before us, for now, we are mostly implementing mechanics. The player will be able to move around on 70x50km big city with a free top-down camera. For Quality of Life, there will be a list of quick choice and jump to destination. To visualise its size - we probably would be able to take a screenshot and show one of the city districts from today till the game premiere.
    fun fact - we are going to simulate how the sun behaves on a given day in LA. If you run game today in-game daytime will be same as in Los Angeles. By mean sunrise will be 06:59 and sundown 19:03. There won't be much reason to create something if one won't be able to save it.

    Save system is already implemented.     Devlog #3 - Sounds of Dreamhouse

    Greetings Architects!


    In the last devlog we have presented how we can create our game avatar so other players can see us. Today we will focus on how other players can hear us. In Dreamhouse: The Game we are going to implement various grounds and floors and we are currently implementing footsteps sounds with little help of FMOD. We will share fruits of our "struggles" in next devlog.
    Walking on this kind of woodwork simply has to sound sexy. It's our duty as developers! Meanwhile, we are busy with the multiplayer system. This is a lot of scary back-end styff and we will push the subject further in future devlogs.
    We have also added some music to the game! We have noticed some trouble with Youtube preview on Steam so if the video is not working You can check it here We have deployed several idle moves, clothes, hairstyles etc. and switching them in character creation menu works fine.     Devlog #2 - Main Menu and Character Creation

    Greetings Architects!


    Today we will keep it short since everybody is busy celebrating the survival of 2020. After our first devlog we have received some feedback that we should keep our UI simple and elegant. That's great news for us because we feel the same :)
    Characters are going to recieve massive graphical improvement later in development process.
    For now we are working with mechanics and possibilities. Players already can create their very OWN characters. Now we would love to ask You, dear Architects. What do You think about our Main Menu? We are tired of classic "The List" style of menu. This one should be easier to navigate and overall more appealing. You can notice Your character standing in Your office and some "idle" gestures and movements are going to be implemented to put more life into the menu. We are still brainstorming how to improve it further and Your feedback is very precious here :)

    Devlog #1 - Architects Office

    Greetings Architects!


    At first, we would love to thank You for all positive feedback we have received after publishing our trailer. It really gives us a massive boost to our motivation to create the best game possible! Right now we are working about Gamers presence in Dreamhouse World. We already announced multiplayer features in our trailer and proper social experience means - customization.

    Character creation UI visuals are still W.i.P but creator itself already allow us to create OWN unique character. Character creation menu will receive some fancy look and features in the nearest future and we will show it in our next Devlog. We are playing with ideas for now. Should it be simple but elegant? Or maybe scream designer is crazy!
    Totally not a designer look-alike Before we lay our first cornerstone, we need Base of Operations. Your very own architect office! By mean your own we mean fully customizable office that will serve as an in-game menu as well. We cannot wait to see Your imagination go wild with all items and furniture we will provide ;)
    We are playing with Office mechanics. Should it be visuals only or affect gameplay? Maybe in-game clans should operate together in such? Leave Your feedback in a comment!   • Dreamhouse: The Game, is a game that allows you to get closer to the process of designing and building a house, from the foundations to buying flower pots. The task of the player is to take care of all the details necessary to finish the building. This seems to be easy and trouble-free at first glance, but in practice, difficult and important decisions will need to be made, which will affect the functionality of the property.
    In the game, you play the role of a beginner construction engineer whose dream is to earn enough money to build your dream house and then build it himself. Lead the company from scratch, accepting orders for the general renovation of a ruined house, undeveloped land requiring leveling, excavation of house foundations, or the construction of a small hut in the forest up to a real hacienda on a sandy beach.

    Some of the features of Dreamhouse: The Game

    • Multiplayer/online co-op mode – cooperate with your friends or compete with them online.
    • VR - Dive into the world of Dreamhouse. Discover VR from an unexpected perspective
    • Photo mode – build your home, photograph it, make an album/movie, and share it.

    • Unique mechanics - import real objects & export real home projects to use in real life
    • Different surroundings - forest, town, village, beach and more



    Every player once wondered, when the times will come when it will not be possible to recognize the graphics in the game from the real world. Perhaps the day has just come when you can see in the game the same things that you see in real life or buy in the store what you've created in the game.




    Create the perfect place. Plant trees, shrubs, set stones, lanterns, fence, and kennel for the dog. If you want to see how the furniture from the store will look like at your home "borrow" them from Dreamhouse: The Game. Take a picture and throw it into the game. After a while you will see them in the house you've built. Maybe you plan to build a house in real life, but don't have a project? Create it here, export it, print it out and you're done. You have just created your first home project.




    Do you think your customers will not know that you cut corners at work? Not a chance this time. An advanced Artificial Intelligence algorithm will evaluate the effects of your work. Style (e.g. classic, modern, Scandinavian, etc.), cost, speed, and precision will determine the rating of your actions. If you thought that building your dream house is easy... you thought wrong.




    Now you want to build yourself a house. No problem. Do you want to build a beautiful, luxurious house, whose design you can copy in real life? So you have a long way to go. Firstly, you have to earn enough money in the game (orders, new every day, limited by time). Then master the basics of design, construction, electrical, and plumbing.




    As it usually happens in life. Everything that can be built can be also destroyed. Are you a lousy designer? Take it into consideration that you will build the same house several times. On the guard of the perfection of houses in Dreamhouse: The Game stands Chaos technology. It's because of it, if you screw up the house construction, the house will collapse. Wrong installations can lead to tensions, leaks, flooding, which can result in an impressive collapse of your dream house.
