Console Launch and Content Update (New Game+)

Dear friends of cats and bats! Catty & Batty got released on all major consoles recently, and after watching several streams and videos, I've begun fixing a few minor things. And while working on this, I saw that the biggest concern of players was that there should've been more levels. And with the upcoming Halloween sale, the idea was born to add a "New Game+" mode, which adds another 30 remixed levels. I can't promise that the update will make it to consoles (it's a difficult process, especially in regards to ratings), but I'll definitely send it to my publisher and we'll see where it leads! I originally felt bad for only updating the Steam version, but then I told myself that any update is better than no update at all, so here we are. Thanks to Auri, SaimizZ and Jace for helping me test this update, and thanks to everyone who has played and supported Catty & Batty up until now! I appreciate all of you <3 Here are all the details of this update:

  • Added "New Game+" with 30 remixed levels and a separate overworld
  • Crystomalities now close the doors 1 second after they appear
  • Increased range for spirits entering gates while following the player
  • Increased contrast for Catty's house
  • Spirits are now sitting on cattypillars for a bit longer, and will wait for a bit before jumping onto the next
  • Allow spirits to check for certain surroundings while riding cattypillars
  • Improved open gate check with crystomalities, heartbeans, leaf piles, buttons and superchargers in the same level
  • Boxfox now uses the regular function for box deletion (which fixes remaining boxes display)
  • Limited collected letters for spirits to 30 (thanks SaimizZ)
  • Fixed an issue which allowed spirits to pick up letters multiple times in succession
  • Fixed an issue with spirits carrying letters and entering a portal resulting in distorted letters
  • Fixed an issue with the white fade transition after cutscenes when loading would take too long
  • Fixed shader issues with lights in levels with night mode
  • Fixed pause menu popup during map loading sequence (thanks Jace)
  • Fixed cattypillars being able to pick up inactive spirits

Small Update

  • Added D-Pad support for regular gameplay (thanks to Pinkerator)
  • Fixed bug in menu where sometimes controls would not disappear (thanks to MGC)
  • Fixed a small layering issue with Batty's pupils
  • Major performance improvement for level 29

Soundtrack EP + Spanish Localization

Small Fix

Hello everyone! Thanks for checking out these patch notes! I wish I could tell you more, but I only changed a very small issue with the sprite order for the Catty and Batty sprite on the overworld. It came to my attention that this sprite dared to reveal itself when the transition from the title screen wasn't even done yet. Very rude! In any case, this has now been corrected! What else is going on? Well, you can expect the soundtrack to be available pretty soon! It will be released on all the music platforms of your choice (including Spotify), and also as a separate soundtrack DLC directly here on Steam. Also, the store page is now available in new languages, such as Dutch, Italian, Traditional Chinese, Polish, Danish, French, Turkish, and Spanish. Will these languages make it into the game? More Languages!

Hello everyone! Catty & Batty is now also available in Brazilian Portuguese and Japanese!
Brazilian Portuguese translation was done by Nana and Nome, who are also working on an Afraid of Monster Demake. Japanese translation was done by Toyoch, whose recent work includes translation for Loop Hero. There might be more languages in the future, but for now this is the last major patch! Language Patch!

Hello everyone! In the latest patch, new languages are now available, including Russian (by Djigallag), Finnish (by Denis Osipov), and German (by Auri). Fixes:


  • Updated hints for levels 1, 5, and 6 to better communicate the information to the players (Pinkerator and Kowi)
  • Fix sprite sort order of beatbox and add blockers so that you cant build boxes on it (NoLifeKing85)
  • Reduce flickering of clouds on overworld by adjust sort order (Kowi)
  • Fix overlapping CattyBatty sprite on overworld when opening pause menu
  • Disabled spirit preview for starsnow maps where you have to pick up spirits
  • Fixed being able to build boxes on heartcranks (and fixed heartcrank sprite sort order)
  • Fixed eyes of Catty and Batty overlapping with the box limit display in level 4

Features:


  • Allow player switching when level is complete
  • You can now also wake up spirits by placing boxes on them
  • Eyeflower now destroys surrounding boxes
  • In level 28, first part of path now gets shown immediately
  • A little animation is now shown when a spirit falls into a portal and travels back to the spawnpoint
  • New languages available: Russian, German, Austrian, Finnish

Release!

After three years of working on it, it's finally here: Catty & Batty's latest adventure Catty & Batty started out as characters for one of my first Unity games to help me get a better understanding of the engine. They went on to go on comic adventures for three Octobers (2017, 2018, 2019), which helped me a lot to get to know them, and to learn more about how to draw them. In late 2018 I decided it was time for their next adventure, this time completely co-op, so that I could play the game together with my wife, Auri. It was my goal to create something that just makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. For some of you, this might be a strange turn of events, coming from my previous project Halfquake Trilogy. But I think you'll see that it shares a lot of similarities in the way I create things. I always have a focus on music, random events, a distinct style, and puzzles. New Trailer, Spring Festival, Upcoming Demo

This time they're back in an interactive game!
