Free!

This game is free now! I hope you like playing it if you didn't play it when it cost money. It seems like the source code is also available as a GameMaker Studio 2 project file. https://bitbucket.org/sylvie_ln/2am/src/master/ Please have fun if you try it.

It will become Free on December 1.

On December 1 this game will become free. You can tell all your friends to play the game and they don't even have to pay money to play the game. The reason is because I feel like making the game free so everyone can play. Now is your last chance to buy the Steam version with money instead of getting it for free. If you buy the game there's no reward or difference except that you lose money. If you paid money for the game, thank you for supporting me and Hubol. if you really like to lose money to us, there's a reverse sale on Itchio where the game costs 2x as much money for a limited time. https://itch.io/s/60751/lets-all-pay-a-lot-of-money The game will become free forever on December 1.

Demonic Monday the 13th Sale

The Legend of Monday the 13th.

A long time ago, a release date was announced for this game. It was to come out on Monday, July 13, 2020....
That didn't happen and it took almost another year to be released. So Monday the 13th became known as an unlucky day associated with demons. To celebrate this day, Clockwork Calamity in Mushroom World is 66% off for the next 6 days, starting Monday, September 13th at 6pm PT. It's also 66% more expensive on a certain other online store, if you're into that. https://itch.io/s/55795/demonic-monday-the-13th-anti-sale

v1.0.4 (Bugfixes again)

This is a little update with two bug fixes and a small adjustment to the menus. Audio Balance Bug When I implemented separate sound effect and volume controls in the last update, I accidentally made it so all sound effects play at the same base volume. They were supposed to have different base volumes that Hubol painstakingly set in the GameMaker IDE, so that the sound effects would be more balanced in terms of loudness. However, the last version of the game totally ignored these settings and a bunch of the sound effect volumes were wrong (too loud). Sorry Hubol. It is fixed now. Dice Bug There is a quest or puzzle of sorts that involves dice. There was a bug where the reward for this quest would trigger when it wasn't supposed to, letting you cheat a little. This is fixed now, but don't worry, there are still other ways you can cheat. Menu Emphasis Now this is a feature that will improve the quality of your life. The menu options in this game are a little verbose and sometimes it's hard to quickly parse what each option does. Now certain keywords in each menu option are emphasized so that it's a bit easier to understand them at a glance. It has been one month since the game was released. Maybe the game has become pretty stable now and there aren't any more major bugs. Then I can stop updating the game and make other games. I hope everyone is having fun with the game.

v1.0.3 (bugfixes, options, and a gentle chicen)

This update has two bug fixes and three other changes. Star in the Museum Bug There is an item called the Star which has two frames of animation. If you picked it up on the second frame (where the Star is brighter and more saturated) it wouldn't register it as having been collected in the Museum. I fixed this by removing the second frame, so now it should always register properly. If you have it in your inventory, you might have to drop it and pick it up again to get it to register. Hand of Earth Trade Bug in Difficult Worlds In a Difficult world, some hands that are normally given to you require trades. One of them is the Hand of Earth, which supposedly requires 2x SpringShroom. However, there was a typo and the trade wouldn't work because it was actually expecting 2x SpeedShroom. The typo is fixed, and if you load your save in the new version it should update the trade. Revised Audio Options Previously the audio options only allowed you to adjust global volume, or mute the music, or mute the sound effects. You can now simply adjust music and sound effect volumes separately, and mute either one by setting the volume to 0%. Text Speed Option There is a new Playful Option for adjusting text speed. You can make it 4x faster, or make text display instantly. Or if you really want, you can make it display more slowly. Chicen Change There is a little chicen in the Cherry Blossom Hills. The chicen wants you to trade two items for something wonderful. When you complete the chicen's quest, if you stole items from the museum at any point in your adventure, you will be chastised for your criminal activity. I decided to make the chicen a little more kind. If you stole items at some point, but you managed to obtain both the items for the chicen's quest without stealing, you will get a different message. (The way it checks for this is a little lazy. So even if you stole one of the items, if you obtain the "legitimate" copy later, you will get this message.) Hopefully you can enjoy a kinder chicen.

v1.0.2 (More bugfixes)

This is just another update with some bug fixes. The bugs probably won't happen to most people, but they are actually somewhat serious. Secret Crash Bug There was a crash bug that occured when you examine items in a certain secret room. It's fixed now. Bugs in Other Worlds There was an error in world generation which caused weird broken rooms to appear in certain Mushroom Zones. When you entered them you would often get stuck or trapped. I don't think this affected the main world. It seemed to only affect alternate worlds with odd numbered IDs. Also, the error seemed to be specific to the Corpse Facade mushroom zone. I fixed the configuration of the Corpse Facade and regenerated the worlds. Even numbered worlds should remain the same, and odd numbered worlds should be mostly the same, except for the Corpse Facade which will have a different layout. I hope this update won't break anyone's saves, but... If you enter the regenerated Corpse Facade using a save file from a previous version, you might find that items you left around are now stuck inside walls, due to the layout change. I think it's unlikely to happen, but it's possible for someone to lose an important item this way. Also, if you happened to save at a memory in the old Corpse Facade using a Memory Disk, and the memory moved to a new location after the regeneration, you will probably just spawn in the middle of nowhere instead of at the memory. I don't really know if this will cause problems. If your save has issues like this as a result of the regeneration, you can send me your save data (and a description of the problem) and I can try to repair it. Here are the save data locations for each OS: Windows: /AppData/Local/CCinMW Mac: /Library/Application Support/net.love-game.ccinmw Linux: /.config/CCinMW Zip up the folder and send it to me through Twitter (@sylviefluff) or Discord (sylvie#7837) or by just making a post on the forum for the game. Sorry for the error. I hope I won't have to regenerate the worlds again.

v1.0.1 (Bugfix update)

Hello everyone. There is an update with two bug fixes. The new version should download automatically unless you have updates disabled on Steam or something like that Museum Heist Crash Bug Some items didn't have their "trade data" defined properly, and would cause a game crash if you tried to steal them from the museum. I think the only items with this problem were the dice, and the hints. Both are fixed now and you should be able to steal whatever you want from the museum. Item Pickup Bug There was a bug where if an NPC perfectly overlaps an item, it might become impossible to pick up the item. This rarely happens, but is potentially pretty bad! I fixed it by giving items priority over NPCs. If you are touching an item you will always have the prompt to pick up the item, even if you are also touching an NPC. This made me worry about some kind of scenario where you can no longer interact with an NPC because they're covered with items. I don't think this can actually happen, because you can just put the items in your bag, or throw them out of the way if they're too large. However, just in case, I added a secret failsafe: If you hold the "Open/Close Bag" button for over one second, you'll ignore items and only get prompts for NPC interaction. So you can interact with a buried NPC by opening your bag with the button, then pressing and holding the button. This is obviously not intuitive, and it's not explained anywhere in the game. It's just there so I can tell people about it if they get stuck (which hopefully won't be possible).

Clockwork Calamity in Mushroom World is Available!!!

Yes, it has been released now! You should be able to play it on Windows, Mac and Linux. For the Linux version, GameMaker Studio 2 only officially supports Ubuntu, but it may work on other distributions. However, it is built for x86_64 architecture and won't work on ARM Linux. (The version of GMS2 I'm using doesn't support ARM the newest version apparently does, but there have been major changes so it would take significant work to port.) There is a Lovely Launch Discount of 12% off for the next week. Please play it and leave a nice review if you like it. It took a really long time to create this world.
