Castle's Reshaping

Hello Players

Welcome back to the new devlog from the Draculas Castle! Today, weve prepared a few different novelties which in our opinion will be much to your liking. Without further ado lets dig into them!
New room type which can be used to shape the castle according to the player's desired look! More secrets in store for these rooms Will you be able to discover them and use their full potential?



[h3]Notification System[/h3]

The notification system has been completely re"vamped" . Game conditions will now trigger notification icons with tooltips. If the conditions are resolved, the icons will self-dismiss. Alternatively, the player can also right-click to dismiss them. They will then collapse properly in the UI.



[h3]New Exterior Decoration System[/h3]

A new meta-type of room has been added requiring some serious rewiring of the grid system. Now players can place external decorations such as towers, spires, gargoyles, etc... The new system can now also handle rooms with multiple levels, for added verticality to the castle builds.



[h3]More Tooltips[/h3]

Dracula's Castle, now with even more tooltips! Many missing tooltips have been added to the UI which will result in a more pleasant experience throughout the entire gameplay.

new room

Hello!

Creatures of the night have been really restless recently, hence the lack of the news. Finally, our spy managed to escape and share with us the latest affairs of Dracula's Castle.

The first abnormal change is enormous amounts of water and food entering the castle. Have the minions of the Count become affected by thirst and hunger?

[h3]Based on this information weve created a theory: if the castle runs low on food, its resource production will take a big hit, on top of that Dracula wont be able to feed on his minions because of their weakened state. If they run out of water, his creatures will suffer even worse! [/h3]

The castle also undergoes some changes. Weve discovered some works on decorative rooms such as towers,spires etc Theyve also started building corridors and plan to add various traps inside. Are they afraid of vampire hunters raid? On top of that doors are now added to the side rooms of the castle so there is no more falling out.


New room has been built. A spacious dining room appeared inside the castle. Is Dracula planning to seduce victims and kidnap them to the castle where he can do whatever he wants with them? Well do our best to find out his plans in the next report.


Weve also been notified about new music themes inside the castle. Scary as they are, one cannot deny them adding to the atmosphere of the place.

As for the final change, a tooltip appeared for each raw resource so managing the production chains became easier!

Resource management!

Welcome to Dracula's Castle!

[h2]We are grateful youve accepted the invitation of our humble lord, progenitor of the vampires- Dracula. [/h2]

Today, wed like to talk some more about the topic weve mentioned last month- the raw resources as well as some of the improvements introduced to the castle!

On top of the already existing raw resource rooms, weve decided to introduce two entirely new! They are connected with each other and undoubtedly worth the materials required for construction.

[h3]The first of the new raw resource rooms added is The Timber Store! It produces the wood material, which is further processed in the second raw resource room - The Sawmill.[/h3]


[h3]Speaking of Sawmill, this room will take the wood from the Timber Store and produce lumber out of it. Do not neglect the importance of this resource as it is now a requirement for building certain rooms! [/h3]


There is a new, huge change introduced to the game also connected with the resources- Power Management. Most rooms require dark power acquired from the Blood Crystals. If the power level drops below the required threshold, rooms will stop the production until the power issues are resolved. Weve got a suggestive red lighting to indicate the rooms affected by the power loss.


The last novelty weve prepared for today is a quality of life improvement- a multiple active quests support! The quests are no longer limited to a linear sequence, below wed like to showcase that functionality. The player is told they must produce new sails in the appropriately named quest Sails. However, in order to build the required rooms they must also construct the Timber Store and Sawmill, which is a task given in the quest Industry.

New Resources

Hello Players!

[h2]Its been a while since the last devlog but were very excited to share the current progress with you![/h2]

[h3]There are lots of changes and the first of them happened in your castles! From now on your Peons and Laborers will now wander around the rooms. They no longer just stand still and look into the camera! [/h3]


Speaking of your servants The NPC cards received an update and expansion as well! All the NPCs now have dynamic statistics which are displayed in the mentioned NPC cards.


[h3]Whats more, weve introduced a new kind of in game resources- Raw Resources. Unlike the dynamic basic resources (namely water, food and power), they arent collected by clicking on the icon appearing on the room.[/h3]


They are important because of multiple different uses. Some of the activities will require them, for example:
- some buildings will require both blood and wood to be built,
- some quests will require a certain production output of a resource,
- some rooms will require resources to be able to produce something.


Weve also upgraded the room detail view. From now on it has a card showing production output if its a room producing raw resources.

[h3]Thats not the end! Weve introduced primary and secondary stat affinities in those rooms! [/h3]

[h3]Pay close attention to them as assigning workers with matching affinities will give you a BOOST to production in that room!
[/h3]
In the example below assigning a peon with high Constitution (CON) and Strength (STR) will grant you the best bonus!

Quests and improvements

Creatures of the night,

[h2][h3]In todays devlog weve got plenty of news straight from Dracula's Castle , Transylvania. The main being the creation of Tavern . [/h3][/h2]

The place is to become essential in your future adventures as its the first quest hub in our production.

[h3]Speaking of quests - weve added 2 new quests as well as a new mechanic being the time limited quests.[/h3]

[h2]To make sure youll enjoy interacting with the in game characters weve been working on the new dialogue system which now supports branching dialogue!
[/h2]



We know that from time to time even the most committed vampire needs a break from the blood , thats why the water was changed and now is a collectible resource.

[h3]Not only have we improved the dialogue system but also worked on the fighting mechanics! [/h3]

Your upcoming battles are to become more challenging as from now on, you can be fought by multiple enemies simultaneously. The post processing has also been added for better visuals. Youll also know exactly what youve gained after defeating your opponents thanks to the loot grid added to the victory screen



[h3]Weve also made sure to let you all track your stats with the Dracula panel. This panel will also feature the talent tree we plan to implement later on. [/h3]



[h2]We are also working on steam achievements with the first one already added on the platform [/h2]



There are also many smaller but not less significant changes weve made to the game. Dracula now heals while staying in the castle and the game tracks his location more consistently - no more teleporting. Expanding the castle upwards is also going to require an ever increasing amount of resources.

[h3]Last but not least, technical upgrades!


  • More UI and font improvements
  • Ultrawide resolution support added
  • Performance and loading improvements in the castle scene
  • Rebalanced sound throughout the game

Game Mechanics, New Units and Locations

Evening Vampires!
Creatures of the Night, tonight we will be talking about the ongoing development of Draculas Castle. Well go over some new mechanics, new unit types and leveling them up and new locations.

Lets get into it!

[h2]Draining Your Victims! [/h2]

You can no longer feast upon your victims indefinitely. Townspeople will become increasingly wary after each of your attacks, and thus the chance of your failure will increase.

If that wasn't enough, it will be very easy to exaggerate the amount of blood you drink from a person - there is a chance of their death, and this will make Draculas time in town more difficult.

On the positive blood type side (heh, get it?) victory in battle will result in a modest blood gain.



UI Improvements
Hovering over UI Buttons now highlights them! We also cleaned up non-decorative game text fonts. All this to make the game easier and more enjoyable for you to play.

Some rooms are locked behind certain conditions. For example, to unlock the wells you may need to get more peons.


Weve also added a new notification banner, there will be notifications for important events.


The minion card is now dynamic and properly showing NPC information.
Now you can also scroll through tasks in the Quest Journal!

More Workers to Manage

That's exactly right. From now on, one of your tasks will be to take care of your subordinates. For example, Peons will need food and water and small quarters to survive. You'll have to pay close attention to making sure their needs are met properly!

We have also expanded the gameplay with a completely NEW type of NPC - LABORERS!
Laborers will need a bit more space to function properly and have new requirements to keep them satisfied. The good news is that you will get a passive blood bonus if you look after them. This means more resources to collect, more upgrades and more thinking.


The most important question - How to get more workers? Peons will hear of work opportunities at the castle and can be promoted to Laborers. However, you can also find some in the towns and cities, with the help of a recruitment minigame.

Make Some Room(s)!

Personnel is not the only thing you will need to take care of, introducing 3 new rooms to put your precious workers in:


FIRST | Medium Quarters: LABORERS have earned some nicer rooms. They might sleep better at night... But then again...


SECOND | Beastmasters room: This hairy guy looks after the castle's pets. Primary provider of wool. (You cant see him at the moment, he is in the shadows)



THIRD | Weaver: This happy chappy operates the mystical loom to make blankets and coats, which helps with your workers' needs, and this is their office!

Dracula in the Throne Room

Hello Players!

[h3]We are getting closer and closer to the holiday that is Halloween, and in connection with this, Dracula has arrived in his castle throne room!

As befits a throne room, it will be a kind of "command center" for our castle. What can we do from here exactly, you ask? Behold:

From the throne room you will be able to access Draculas tech tree
See your inventory and manage your equipment
And send Dracula to scour the areas around Transylvania!





[h2]Another amazing thing we managed to implement into the game is a task system! [/h2]

This is a fully working quest system that replaces the old static log page! You will not only be able to track the progress of the main quest, but also building quests and side quests involving some of the main characters in the game.

This is definitely a big part of this milestone that we are very proud of





[h2]What else are we working on [/h2]

Castle employees now have tiers and a satisfaction system, which means they can be upgraded!
Everything will, of course, depend on properly maintained conditions. Youll need to keep them fed and plump to get the most out of them

Over several posts, we share some of the development journey and explain some of the core concepts and design choices behind Draculas Castle.[/h3]

[h2]Todays theme is castle chambers. Heres a preview of two room types that we will be able to build in our castle! [/h2]





How many rooms you build will determine how many workers and minions you can have. These rooms will be divided into two types:


  • Tombs
  • Bedrooms


How quickly you get to travel to England on the Demeter will depend on their number, so manage your resources and build appropriate rooms to develop your strategy, all while discovering new mechanics and achieving your goal!


In addition to the room mechanics, a large number of tombs will give additional skill bonuses to the undead minion class.

Do you like wolves? Build more kennel rooms and give them extra specs!
Or maybe you would like Dracula to also get passive, dark bonuses?

Dracula's Castle - Official Teaser

The new teaser trailer is done!

We're happy to announce that the Dracula's Castle now has a teaser. :)=

And just in time for Halloween too! It hints at some of the mechanics in the game. If you have a close look you should be able to spot some of the milestones from the previous updates, plus a few extra goodies:

- Improved graphics on the rooms, with post-processing effects enabled.
- The map travel system, with Dracula's arrival to one of the local towns.
- The feeding mechanic with its fully physical dice and NPC biometrics.
- The combat system! An early peek at the combat arena and turn-based combat.

Finally a glimpse at Dracula's throne room! This is where you'll decide on Dracula's particulars and strategy.

Feeding System v1.0 Implemented

Greetings Children of the Night!

The first pass at the feeding system is now complete. One of the ways Dracula can replenish his blood supply is to visit the nearby towns and hunt for a victim. Each NPC will have their own dynamic vitals that will affect the difficulty and outcome of the feed.

In future updates feeding will impact, and be impacted by, different variables depending on the player's previous activities. The feeding results themselves will also vary, sometimes resulting in some unexpected outcomes for Dracula.

This is only one of the planned activities that players will be able to engage in within the various towns of Transylvania, more updates to come as development continues!

Map System v1.0 Implemented

Hello Dracula's Castle fans!

The travel system component has been fully implemented meaning that a whole new world of possibility is now open outside of the gates of Castle Dracula.





You'll be able to select a town for Dracula to travel to, this will then open up options such as feeding for blood and other vampiric activities used to empower the dark vampire lord. This is the first step in expanding the game beyond the building management activities, more news on the feeding dynamic to follow!
