How to Enter!
To participate in the Hackathon, create and upload your mod to CurseForge and then upload a short video to YouTube, Twitter, or TikTok introducing your mod to the Dwerve community! Here are a couple of mod ideas to consider:
- Reskin the current sprites for a turret, enemy, or Dwerve to create a new look
- Craft a new gameplay experience with an overhaul to turret and enemy stats
- Forge a new turret with a complete reskin and restat of a current turret or trap
How Well Choose Winners!
While we encourage you to share and promote your mod, this is not a popularity contest. Peter and I will select our favorite mods based on the criteria below. Your mod does not need to meet every single criteria, we encourage you to focus on one or two:
- Creativity: Did you use the mod tools in a unique way to create a compelling experience?
- Game design: Did you improve upon or create a brand new gameplay experience?
- Comedy: Did you make a funny mod that makes players laugh and have fun despite balancing?
- Aesthetic: Did you create your own beautiful sprite/animations for a turret, enemy, or Dwerve?

Modding Support
The mod system lets you customize the stats and sprites for Dwerve, towers, and enemies. You can also mod the general game configuration which determines when towers, power stones, and artifacts get unlocked. For example, you could reskin a turret, and have it deal massive knockback AND stun foes!

- Added build preview so you can see where the turret will be built
- Added recall preview so you can see which turret will get recalled

Dwerve: Prologue is your apprenticeship for the main version of Dwerve, a tower defense dungeon crawler RPG. Tinker with a couple of the turrets, the weapons of the Warsmiths! Meet your companions! Learn the basic strategies and tactics of turret-based combat. Hone your tower-defense dungeon-crawling skills so you're ready for the main game!
Dwerve tells the story of a young dwarven tinkerer that adventures into dwarven ruins to unearth the lost technologies of the ancient warsmiths: turrets and traps, the only weapons that can protect the dwarves from Witch Queen Vandra the Wicked and her army of bloodthirsty trolls and monstrous creatures. This prologue includes the events that take place before Dwerve descends into the dangerous dungeons of Mount Crowcrest. It features a handful of the turrets and enemies, and introduces many of the main characters.

Backstory & Lore
In the massive hollow mountain of Mount Crowcrest, there once lived a great nation of dwarves. The dwarves discovered power stones while mining deep in the mountain. They used them to power machines and, eventually, entire cities. They lived in peace and prosperity for centuries.
Over time they became infatuated with power stones and dug deeper to find more. One day they dug too deep and unleashed the Gloomdark Hordes, an army of trolls and monstrous creatures. Once the dwarves realized that trolls turned to stone in the sunlight, they fled far from the mountain and found refuge on the sunny Hills of Brekka.
Centuries passed and, over time, the dwarves forgot their traditions and abandoned craftsmanship and innovation in favor of warring and raiding. History became myth, and myth became bedtime stories. But whispers of a long forgotten darkness echo throughout the valley of the great mountain. It can be heard in the Snoring Forest, by those who dare to enter...
