Twisty Little Passages has launched on Kickstarter and appears to be off to a good start. You can go check out and back the project here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/caravelgames/twisty-little-passages
Caravel Games is excited to announce an all-new creative project we're taking in a different direction that's launching on Kickstarter on May 14! It's for a game book of dungeon crawl puzzle adventures called Twisty Little Passages. It's similar in spirit to DROD RPG and we wanted to give fans of "Tendry's Tale" advance notice of the campaign going live. TLP is a solo game book that is a unique blend of puzzle and dungeon crawler in a classic D&D/fantasy adventure setting. It features a multi-chapter campaign story that progresses through a series of 25 dungeon maps, where each area is a hand-crafted puzzle. Fight monsters, acquire keys to open doors, get life-boosting elixirs, powerful equipment and enchanted items, and defeat the boss at the end of each level. Use your wits to find the right path through each area and survive. Solve each puzzle to move forward with the story. TLP is a game of full-color, fully-illustrated thematic puzzles drawn by experienced fantasy artists. Engage your imagination in a series of dungeon crawls and enjoy the experience of interacting with a real book at the same time. To play, you draw right on the laminated dungeon maps with a fine-tipped dry-erase pen to track your progress as you explore, find treasure, keep stats and inventory, defeat enemies and uncover the secrets of solving each area. It may require multiple attempts to find the solution to a puzzle, and it's easy to restart your progress by wiping the page to start again. If you like puzzles, mazes and dungeon crawl adventures, you'll find this a uniquely engaging experience! This game book is different from Tendry's Tale in that each puzzle is standalone and the goal is to solve the puzzle rather than optimize stats. We wanted each puzzle to be a sterling example of a unique dungeon crawl puzzle focusing on a specific game mechanic, element or play style. You can read a developer journal that I'm publishing on Board Game Geek that shares insights into how our team approached the puzzle design and what considerations we put into developing this unique experience: https://www.boardgamegeek.com/blog/9092 You can watch a teaser trailer, take a look at the game rules and get a sneak peek at a quick tutorial/introductory puzzle on the Caravel Games site here: http://www.caravelgames.com/Articles/Games_2/TLP.html You can also sign up on this page to be notified as soon as the Twisty Little Passages campaign goes live on Kickstarter. We're going to be providing some flash stretch goals for making good progress towards funding the campaign in the first 48 hours, so you want to get in on it early to unlock these stretch goals. Thanks for your interest in this new creative puzzle experience from Caravel Games! Questions, comments and feedback are welcome!

We've published a minor version bump, 1.2.4, which contains the following new features to improve play experience:
- Additional battle info when viewing enemy stats: (Enemy damage x enemy hits, +? ATK for faster win). Now you can see a prediction of how much damage each enemy hit inflicts and how many times the enemy will hit you before defeating it. Also, you can see how much more ATK you need in order to defeat this enemy in fewer hits (taking less damage in the process).
- New player setting option "No focus plays music". Checking this option on the Change Settings Screen allows the game music to keep playing when another app has focus on your desktop.

DROD RPG: Tendry's Tale Depot - Linux [11.49 M]
DROD RPG combines DROD's puzzle elements, strategy, world and story backdrop with player stats, weapons and armor, one-on-one monster duels, items, custom power-ups and treasure. It was inspired by the classic Tower of the Sorcerer and is similar in flavor to Desktop Dungeons.
As a puzzle/logic game, level layouts, items, enemy encounters, and treasures are all hand-crafted to bring you a series of engaging, well thought-out puzzles that are a joy to solve. Navigate through series of interlocking rooms, looking for the exit on each level. Spend hit points and resources wisely to power up and advance. Decide which pre-placed monsters to fight along the way. Battles resolve deterministically according to a clear set of rules. Get rewards from defeating enemies now or come back later when you're more powerful and can take less damage (hint: this is typically the better option).
Combining DROD's straight-forward interface and flexible puzzle widgets with the staples of dungeon crawling and resource management makes for a unique, genre-busting gaming experience. Play this game to relax and contemplate, or take advantage of its huge depth and optional elements of challenge and replayability to optimize your score against other Steam players. Along with a powerful level editor, modding capabilities and an enthusiastic player community producing novel puzzle content, this is a game you can enjoy for years.
The story
Help Tendry, a member of the scattered Stalwart Army, escape from entrapment far beneath the surface. He might not be the ideal warrior, but he's got a lot of panache to make up for his lack in prowess. Or at least he's always good for a laugh. Keep him from killing himself in battle long enough to save his homeland of Tueno from the menacing Underground Empire.
