When your father goes missing, you return home from studying abroad to help uncover clues to where he could have gone. But returning to your hometown brings back a lot of old feelings and you soon find yourself meeting new people and rekindling relationships with old friends as well. How are you supposed to focus on finding your father, when there are so many other interesting characters who all want your attention as well. You can't just let love pass you by. Your father would understand.

Come Home has 20 romanceable characters, each with their own individual storylines. All romances are optional, so you can pick and choose the characters you like, ignoring the ones that you don't. None of the romance paths are required to play through the main story. You decide how you spend your day, from focusing on schoolwork, to dating, to just hanging around the park or playing games on your computer. An in-game hint system is there for you if you get stuck, making walkthroughs unnecessary.

This is an adult game and there is a lot of sex in it. There are many scenes that will happen throughout the story, along with repeatable activities with the many characters in the game. All scenes are fully rendered and there are plenty of animations as well. Plus, any time that you'd like to see a scene again, you can replay the scene in its entirety from the gallery.
There are so many interesting characters waiting for you. All you need to do is Come Home.

Update 20 Progress Report

It\'s been a little while since I\'ve updated you all on how everything is going with the game, so I just wanted to get on here and let you all know what\'s going on. Before you ask, this image is just a little promo - I\'m not adding myself to the game.

I\'m currently working very hard on Update 20. I\'m a little over halfway done at the moment and am expecting the release date to be sometime between mid-January to early February. I don\'t have a date in mind at the moment, but I\'ll let you know once we get closer.

Update 20 is probably going to be a shorter update for most people, as it\'s basically just the endings. I don\'t want to get into the endings too much, but there are going to be 18 different endings and one of them has a lot of different possibilities in it. If you\'re only interested in one or two of the endings, the update isn\'t going to have a lot of content for you. If you\'re interested in them all, it\'ll be about the average-sized update. \n\nThis update is not going to have any bonus scenes for the Premium version like I have been doing. This is because I will be doing an entirely Premium Only update next year that will be a bunch of Premium-only scenes and sort of round off and complete the game. So while Update 20 will be the end of the story, I\'ll be going back and filling in some gaps with a final update afterwards.

Some people have asked how I\'ve been doing - I\'m great! Aside from doing a job that I love, I\'ve been hanging out with friends, playing a lot of games, hiking, running, and just generally enjoying life. If you want more frequent updates, I post weekly on my Patreon/Subscribestar and I am generally on my Discord chatting occasionally while I work. Feel free to join!

2025 State of the RJ and Q&A

Hey everybody! First of all, the Free version of Update 19 has been released.

Secondly, I called this annual post the State of the Game for the past 5 years, but I\'m changing it to State of the RJ, because lately I\'ve actually been working on more than just one Game. I\'ll go into that later in this post. This is going to be a long one, but within, I\'m going to talk about my plans for the next year or so. I\'m going to announce the game(s) I\'m planning for after Come Home. Then I\'m going to answer a bunch of questions that people have asked me in a Q&A.

Hope it gives you some insights, or just a little entertainment!

Come Home

Let\'s talk a bit first about what is planned for Come Home. At this point, we\'re getting very close to the end of the game and I\'m looking at how I want to wrap everything up.

Update 20

Top of my priority list right now is Update 20. This update will be finishing up the story, adding all the multiple endings, and wrapping up the game.

The update will likely be pretty short, as it\'s really just a little lead-up to the endings, then the ending itself. If you\'re the type to want to see all the endings, you\'ll get a little more gameplay out of the Update, but if you only care about one or two of the endings, it\'s probably not going to take you long to finish.

Right now, it\'s looking like Update 20 will be released around December/January. These are very preliminary dates though, so please don\'t hold me to it. I\'ll announce an official date when I get closer to it.

Come Home - Complete Edition

After Update 20, I\'m going to do one (probably) final update for Come Home. This update will be for the Premium Edition only and will add more sex scenes, dates, anything else I feel like I want in the game, but didn\'t get a chance to do before the endgame. I\'ll also be cleaning the game up as much as I can.

After this, I\'ll change the name of the Premium Edition to the Complete Edition. It will only be a name change, not a completely different version that I\'m trying to sell you or anything. If you have the Premium Edition, you will have the Complete Edition.

At this point, Come Home will leave early access on Steam and have a full 1.0 release. Then Come Home will be finished and I\'ll be moving on. I\'m expecting this to happen next Summer.

Happy Trails

I\'m excited to finally share a little bit about my next game after Come Home! The game is called Happy Trails. In it, you play as a character who decides to through-hike the Appalachian Trail. On the way, he/she meets many people and develops relationships, while enduring all the highlights and hardships of the trail itself.

The game features 2D art animated in Live2D. Gameplay is going to be similar to games like Oregon Trail - you will be traveling along the trail and encountering random elements while managing your character\'s fatigue, happiness, health, and inventory.

The art is made by Chocoleth, who I met after doing a lot of interviews with artists. I really clicked with her and I loved her art style. Background art is going to be watercolor and will be supplied by Chocoleth along with other artists as well.

People who talk to me on Discord or on Patreon know that I love hiking and I love nature and this game is sort of a love letter to that. I wanted to make something with a little more gameplay involved than a visual novel and I wanted to explore some new things and learn more about a different type of game development.

I recognize that this game is very different from Come Home and a lot of fans of Come Home might not enjoy a game like this. That\'s okay, if you feel like this isn\'t going to be your type of game. I hope you\'ll at least give it a try. It\'ll still have my mix of emotional and comedic writing, but I understand if it\'s not your thing, due to art style or gameplay style. There will be some Come Home characters who make an appearance in the game though. And Gertrude will be returning as a love interest.

I\'ll be revealing more about this game in the future. Right now it\'s still in early production - I have the skeleton of the code down, I\'ve written pieces of it, and we have done some of the early artwork. It\'s still a long way away from release. Come Home is still my focus, so this is something I\'ve been working on in my off-time mostly.

Soul Purpose

That\'s right. I have two games to announce here.

Since Happy Trails is a 2D art game done by another artist, that takes a lot of things off my plate. I just have to focus on coding and writing for it. Because 2D art tends to take a little longer to produce than something like Daz, I expect production on Happy Trails to be a little slower. So I decided to go ahead and get into production on a second game as well.

Soul Purpose is a traditional Ren\'py visual novel, with some point-and-click adventure game elements. It\'s non-sandbox, has a small cast of characters, and is very story focused. The story follows a man who meets a girl at a bar and discovers that she\'s something special. Together they get pulled into a science-fiction action story that could put the entire world in peril.

With Soul Purpose I\'m going for a sort of gritty sci-fi vibe. Think the first Terminator movie. It\'s planned to be a pretty tight story, told in around five updates.

The plan at the moment is to do the art in Daz, much like Come Home, though I\'m hoping to increase the quality a bit. I think people will agree that my art in Daz has improved throughout the development of Come Home. With Soul Purpose I\'m hoping to continue to improve, along with using newer, higher quality, models. I\'ll also be increasing the resolution of all the images to 4k to try to increase the visual quality.

I say that is the plan, because I\'m not 100% at the moment. Daz has been doing some things that I don\'t really like. Their software currently doesn\'t work with the RTX 5000 series of graphics cards and it seems like they are trying to put newer versions of the software behind a monthly subscription paywall. I don\'t plan on paying a subscription for Daz, so I have been looking at moving away from it and may move entirely over to Blender for Soul Purpose. I\'ll devote more time into this when I\'m finished with Come Home and make a decision then.

For Soul Purpose, I have already written the complete story, front to back. I\'ll have to code it in and add some things, expand some of the branching paths and such. But mostly I\'ll be focused on the art and sound on this one.

I\'m hoping to release the first chapter of Soul Purpose late next year. I expect it will release before the first release of Happy Trails, due to it being a much simpler production.

Most of the time, I would be like, just focus on one game at a time, but I feel like producing these two simultaneously will not be too much of a stretch for me. On one, I don\'t have to worry about the art too much. On the other, I don\'t have to worry about the writing too much (because I\'ve already written it). So between the two of them, it\'s like I\'m working on a single game. Also, I just like to work.

Other Future Games

I have so many other ideas for future games, but those two are the ones that I am most passionate about and decided to invest in.

There are a lot of people wanting more with the Come Home characters. I have some ideas about how I would like to do that, but none are on the agenda at the moment.

I also would like to eventually return to the Come Home gameplay style. I could see myself making a Come Home 2 at some point with another 20 characters, a new MC, and a new background mystery. For now though, I want to work on some other ideas and stretch my muscles in different ways.

Conclusion

It\'s scary to finish up one game and move on to the next. I know that the fan-base is going to change a bit. I hope many of the Come Home fans will stick with me for what follows, but both of these games are very different from Come Home. Happy Trails is also a pretty big investment, because it requires paying an artist. Making games is my only source of income, so it\'s very important to me that these games are successful.

But while I\'m scared, I\'m also very excited to create something new and tell a new story and introduce you all to these new characters that have been in my mind for a while. It\'s going to be very fun and I think that people are really going to enjoy it. I haven\'t seen any game out there that\'s like what I have in mind for Happy Trails. And Soul Purpose I feel like is just a good story that I want to tell, done in a visual style that I hope will be fun.

Come Home Questions

Do you see additions to the group in the near future?

I assume this is about adding more characters to the game. Come Home will not be getting any more characters. 20 is enough.

Where does the inspiration for your characters come from?

Inspiration comes from everywhere. Mostly personal experiences. Sometimes there\'s just a story in my head that I want to tell and I create a character as a way to tell that story.

Are the relationship dynamics in the game based on people you know? And how much of it is a reflection of what you\'d like to see?

Some of the relationships in the game are based on people I know or knew, or based on myself. Most of the game is a reflection of what I\'d like to see. I think most of the characters in the game look at the relationships in a mature way that is not necessarily realistic. Most of the time feelings get in the way of emotional maturity.

Which characters in Come Home would you Marry, Fuck, or kill?

Ooh, this is a really mean question. Marry Brandi, because I feel like she would be fun to travel the world with and explore new things and I think that she would be a very caring wife. Fuck Izzy, because she\'s so fucking hot and I know that group stuff with her would be a blast. Kill Kendra she\'s my favorite character, but unfortunately, she\'s going to die anyway. Harsh, I know. You made me do it.

Do you have a favorite and least favorite ending for Come Home?

You\'re not going to trick me into talking about the endings. Yes, I do.

Will there be maybe a spinoff to Come Home?

I have some ideas in mind. I think it\'s pretty likely that I\'ll do a spinoff of some sort at some point.

Is there a possibility of a Come Home Dungeon Crawler?

Probably not.

After finishing up with the game, would there be one of the women\'s stories you\'d like to spin-off as a separate adventure, visual novel game?

I have some ideas. Not as a visual novel probably, but I\'d like to make some other small games based on some of the characters. Kendra, Brandi, and Adrian are the ones that jump out to me the most as maybe needing a spinoff game.

Was there any thought during the update 19 process of cross world item sharing to help with home world situations?

I did have some thoughts about maybe the MC bringing back a bunch of valuables to help set up for the ending. I had ideas about him bringing characters back with him as well. In the end, I felt like bringing back valuables wasn\'t necessary and bringing back characters was very complex coding-wise. Neither were necessary for the story, so I didn\'t move forward with them.

Which one of the in-game jokes makes you laugh most when you think about it?

Right now, probably the MC\'s tiny penis with the Kendra fairy. Visual gags like that get me.

Was there any other characters you wanted to introduce that ended up getting cut?

Yeah, originally Come Home was going to be broken into two semesters and I had some characters in the second semester that I was going to introduce. There was a math teacher, an art teacher, a computer science teacher, and a goth girl, I remember for sure. The goth girl kind of got folded into Adrian and a little bit of Tammy .Maybe one day, I\'ll tell those other stories in another game though.

Will the endgame have where-are-they-now scenes? like, there being consequences for not choosing certain characters and how they coped?

I don\'t want to talk too much about the end-game, as I don\'t want to spoil things, but I think I\'ll answer this one a bit anyways. I don\'t want people to feel bad for the characters that they\'re not choosing, so no, I don\'t have plans to show what happens to the characters that you don\'t choose.

ANY chance Gertrude can be convinced to change her mind about the MC????

No, Gertrude\'s story is basically complete at this point. She will not end up with this MC right now. She will be a character in Happy Trails though, and we can see how things go with her there.

How many of these characters are based on people you know/knew/loved/love? No need to tell me which ones.

Six.

Are you planning to translate the game into other languages? Do you need help with it?

Yes, after the Complete Edition is released, I\'ll be looking more into translations. I\'ll put out a call at that point, if you\'re interested in helping.

What was your motivation or inspiration for creating Come Home?

Motivation was money. I saw an opportunity to make a living by writing, which is all I ever wanted. I didn\'t want to have to get a real job again and I didn\'t want to ever have to work for a boss again. Inspiration was mostly porn and other porn games - Summertime Saga and Harem Hotel being the big ones.

I\'m curious what are your most frequently asked questions?

Pregnancy? Translations? Can I date Suzy without Tammy?

During Brandi\'s unplanned lewd stream, the animation stops with one of the chatters named Penn tipping 20 dollars. Was that a coincidence? If not I would be incredibly honored to have my name in your game. (This one was from Penn on Steam)

It probably wasn\'t a coincidence. For Brandi\'s stream, especially for things like the tips, I often go into Discord or Patreon or Steam and look for users who I like or who say nice things and use their names there. I don\'t remember specifically, but I probably saw yours somewhere and used it.

Who is your favorite character in the game? and what was the inspiration behind that character?

My favorite character is Kendra, though Izzy comes very close. My dad had neurofibromatosis and that was a big inspiration on Kendra\'s character. Kendra is how I like to imagine I would be if I had a disease like that. Realistically, I know that it\'s harder than what I portray in the game though. \n\nIs there a character that you wish you could have done more with?

Juliana. I feel like I didn\'t give her enough of a story. I wanted her story to be about a socially awkward introvert learning to experience things outside of books. I feel like I mostly did that, but there\'s not really much to it. I probably should have given her something else.

Do you plan on adding any audio or voice lines to this update?

I talked about this more in-depth in my Update 19 Post-Mortem, but right now I\'m unsure if I\'ll be adding more audio or voice lines to the rest of the game. If I do, it will come in the Complete Edition or afterwards. I don\'t expect there to be new voice lines in Update 20.

Any plans to write erotic novellas still after the game has finished of these characters?

No plans right now, but it\'s possible. They\'d probably be shorter than novellas. It doesn\'t make a TON of sense for me to write novellas that require playing through the game to understand the story. It\'s something I\'ll think about. I\'d rather focus on making games though.

What character in come home is the closest to a foil of yourself?

A foil of myself? So sort of the opposite of me? I mean, they\'re all kinda me, so this is hard. I could go the easy route and say Bai. He\'s easily the least like me. That feels like cheating though. Probably Whitney. Whitney is more logical and emotionless than I am capable of being. She\'s a genius, but in many ways, she doesn\'t have the heart behind it. I\'m kinda of the opposite. I have a ton of heart and motivation, and while I don\'t think I\'m a dummy, I know I\'m not a genius either.

Is there a scene/story part you regret making or regret making in the way you did?

Not really. I could always change things if I wanted, so if I had any major regrets, I would change them. I mentioned Juliana, and that\'s probably my biggest regret, is not giving her more to do.

Where is an unexpected place/chat/forum/channel/group/board/etc... you have seen your game being discussed or referenced?

This hasn\'t really happened yet. I haven\'t seen my game being discussed outside of the normal places. That Polygon/404Media interview I did was pretty wild though! Having my game mentioned in the same conversation as stuff like Cyberpunk is crazy.

Have you ever posed as a reference for an animation?

Yes, I have. Sometimes I\'ll have my wife take pictures of me, or I\'ll take pictures of her, to get some pose that I\'m thinking of. That doesn\'t happen to often though. What does happen a lot is me making faces while fiddling with expression dials. I find myself frequently imitating the face of the character that I\'m trying to make while I\'m moving sliders around. My wife makes fun of me for it.

Has there ever been in a point in development, where you thought you\'d like to overhaul a character (look wise, personality, story, kinks) but didn\'t do it because it would\'ve taken too much time?

Well, I have done this a couple of times during the game - with Kendra\'s hair, Lisa\'s and Jamie\'s skin, and a couple of characters I redid their appearance entirely early on (Jez, Adrian). I think the biggest thing that I would have liked to change, but didn\'t is Jamie\'s hair. I kinda hate her hair. As far as personality, story, kinks - no, I haven\'t really wanted to change anything there.

Which fan favorite of your characters surprised you the most?

Hm, I don\'t know. Out of the 20, I don\'t think there\'s any that I\'m surprised fans loved. I love all of them and there\'s a few that I\'m surprised that fans don\'t love more (Izzy!). Out of the side characters - the love for the Brandichat characters was a little surprising for me. Connie got a lot of love too that I didn\'t quite expect. The Connie scene and the Troutsmell scene were not planned, but were added as fan service because people liked those characters.

What\'s one kink you\'d have liked to add to the game, but thought the audience would \"hate\" that and thus didn\'t do it...and vice versa, what kink did you implement because many people like it but it\'s not your cup of tea?

I don\'t think I have an answer to the first one. If there\'s a kink I wanted to add, I did. I\'m not a super kinky person overall, really. I like a little light play in various things. As for the second part, I also don\'t think I did add any kinks that I wasn\'t into. In all honesty, I feel like I\'ve made the game I wanted to make, from beginning to end and I\'ve always stuck to what I want more than what fans want.

Future Game Questions

It occurred to me that with the popularity of Brandi Chat, that there might be the equivalent in your next game. Is this being considered/planned?

I enjoy Brandi Chat a lot and I love that everybody else enjoys it too. Yeah, I can see myself having something like it in future games. Specifically Happy Trails. I don\'t think Soul Purpose will have anything like it.

What are the biggest lessonstechnical or creativethat you plan on carrying into your next project? Are there things you\'re excited to do differently now that you have this experience under your belt?

I\'ve learned SO much with making Come Home. On a technical level, I feel like I\'ve gotten way better with coding and with UI elements that I can make much more interesting games now. I\'ve also gotten better at planning and I feel like I won\'t hit near as many pitfalls with future games. I\'m going to keep pushing myself though and trying new things, so there\'s always going to be mistakes, but I know so much more now than I did five years ago.

I\'m excited to experiment more with the UI and with the way stories are told. I\'m also excited to try out a different release strategy. Come Home was free with Premium Edition bonuses, which I think worked really well for it. Both my future games will be different though, probably. I won\'t be doing the thing that some other games are doing where they\'ll sell you part of a game, or seasons, or chapters or whatever. If you buy a game from me, you\'re going to get a full game. But I\'ll be doing something different than I did with Come Home. I\'ll let you know once I get the details nailed down.

Will your next Adult Visual Novel Game project involve a lot more Transgendered Characters when it comes to the Lewd Sex scenes and non lewd scenes?

I\'m always going to be about diversity and inclusion. There will be a transgender character in Happy Trails. There won\'t be in Soul Purpose. I don\'t have any plans to make a game about transgendered characters specifically.

Which 3 Come Home character\'s stories that aren\'t similar to your personal experience resonate with you the most?

Izzy - I don\'t really have any of the experiences that Izzy has, but I tried my best to write them in a way that is sympathetic and relatable. Izzy is probably my favorite character in the game, all around. Lisa - I don\'t have experience being a mother or being abandoned, like she has, but I feel like I did pretty okay with her story and I really like it overall. I have a hard time with this third one, because thinking through the characters, all the ones remaining that really resonate with me have large portions of their character based on personal experience.

While some of his personality is based off our decisions and preferences, I still feel like the MC is very much his own character. Where did you come up with the ideas for the MCs backstory?

Most of the MC\'s personality was invented during the production of the game. Really I just wanted him to be there as an insert for the player. He was intended to be a little bland and average so that a majority of people could see themselves in his shoes. He developed more as I started writing the stories around him though. I wanted him to be a good person, overall. I didn\'t like other games I see where they give you the option of becoming an asshole, so I just stopped giving those options. My MC is not an asshole. I wanted him to be a little childish at first, but develop into a more confident, accepting character as the story went on. I think I just made him into being the sort of guy that I would like to date. The sort of guy that 20 characters of various backgrounds and personalities would all fall in love with.

I ask this knowing that update 20 may surprise us, but was it a deliberate choice to include women in the game who would be emotionally unavailable for more than just a sexual relationship, or was it something that came about organically as you wrote the story (examples would be Gertrude, Eden, and Mrs. Mills).

It was deliberate, yeah. I wanted some characters who just weren\'t interested in being in a long-term relationship with the MC. Eden was never going to leave Pete - they love each other so much, I could never see them separating. Eden is almost not really a main love interest in the game. She\'s kind of there to explore different sexual ideas with, but she has no interest in a romantic relationship with the MC.

Mrs. Mills also was never going to be with the MC long term. I really like how her story turned out, honestly. The last couple scenes with her hit me in the right spots and I feel like I did pretty good with them. She\'s a cynical older woman and she doesn\'t want to change. The MC has been good for her, but he hasn\'t really changed her. Sometimes that\'s okay, I think. I want to have some characters who don\'t shape their lives around the MC and I wanted to explore the idea of temporary relationships. Just because they\'re not forever doesn\'t mean they\'re not good or worthwhile.

It\'s the same with Gertrude. Their relationship isn\'t going to last forever, but it was good for both of them while it lasted. Flings are good. They make you a more well-rounded person, fulfill some desires that you might have, and give you a lot of memories to think back on. Gertrude, I felt like, had a lot of things to deal with and I just couldn\'t see her leaving her husband and immediately getting into a long-term thing with the MC. I could have wrote it, but it wouldn\'t have felt right. I\'m looking forward to exploring her further in Happy Trails though.

How long does it take to complete a screen, on average?

It really depends. If I have to set up a location or costumes or add several characters, they can take hours. If I just have to change an expression, it can take minutes. On average I\'d say like 20 minutes or so, but it varies wildly.

The whole payment processor mess and Steam/Itch banning NSFW games

I had a lot of questions about how I feel about this. The short answer is that I feel like payment processors should not have the ability to censor art. If it\'s legal to make and it\'s legal to buy, a payment processor should not be able to say that you cannot spend your money to buy it.

I\'ve been making this game for five years now. I\'ve seen several scares like this over those years. It\'s always a worry that one day I\'m going to wake up and find out that I\'ve been kicked off Patreon for some reason or that my game has been taken down from Steam. That\'s a constant worry, I think, for most developers who this is their main source of income.

Right now, Steam and Itch have given no indication that they are planning on banning ALL NSFW games though and I don\'t believe they are going to do so. I don\'t think they should have banned the ones they banned. I don\'t like censorship of this kind in any way. But, Come Home does not break any of the rules that they have instated, and I don\'t plan on making any games that would break those rules.

I\'m glad that this particular scare has attracted so much attention from outside the porn game realm. I\'ve never seen so many people talking about this issue and it\'s nice to see that people are upset about it. However, I also feel like there\'s a lot of harmful misinformation being spread by both news articles and people who have minimal understanding about what is happening.

Some people are saying that ALL NSFW games are being banned, which is simply not true and is a harmful thing to say. If people think that all NSFW games are being banned, they\'re less likely to buy those games. Like, who is going to spend money to buy a game on Steam if they think the game is going to be removed in a week? So, we need to be clear about the facts - Steam and Itch are banning games that contain specific things - incest, non-consensual sex, underage-appearing characters, and vomit/scat.

Do I think that those things should be banned? No. Could Steam decide to ban all NSFW games in the future? Absolutely. I think that people need to continue to push back against this, because it\'s definitely a threat to free speech and creativity.

But I don\'t think things are as dire as some people have made them out to be.

What perception of the player base changed the most from before you began your project until now?

Hm, I don\'t know if my perception has changed all that much. I will say that the player base has changed over time, based on the platform. Patreon tends to attract an older, more mature audience. Steam tends to attract a younger, more outspoken audience. I feel like the game (woke as fuck) attracts a player base that tends to be like-minded and just generally good people. I like my players.

What got you into making a game? Was there formal training, or did you just figure it out on your own?

I started off as a writer and I learned some game development as a hobby. I started in Unity, then moved to Ren\'Py. What first steps are involved from transitioning from a novella creator to a video-game creator? The transition seems to be a daunting challenge.

I think the first thing to do is to determine how you\'re going to make the art, or if you are going to make the art. That was the hardest part of the transition for me. Coding with Ren\'Py, or things like Twine, is very simple and easy if you\'re just doing a basic branching story.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Probably my favorite TV show ever, solely because of the characters. Buffy herself I think has made a huge impact on my mind and the way that I tell stories. I love the character. I love the swap of the tropes - girl who originally appears as a cheerleader, bubble-headed, damsel in destress is actually a badass superhero. I love the heavy themes being placed on the shoulders of a person who is not mature enough to handle them yet. And I love watching the characters grow over a long time. I\'ve always wanted to be able to do that - tell a story over a long period of time where we can see characters grow and change. I could talk about Buffy for days.

I don\'t think I\'ll go into them as much, but I\'ll throw out Ripley from Alien, for just being a badass, smart, confident chick. And pretty much all the characters from Harry Potter. I hate what Rowling has become and I don\'t support her or the Harry Potter franchise anymore, but I\'d be lying if I said they didn\'t have an impact on me. They were a huge part of my life growing up and they probably inform a lot of my writing.

Not really! She\'s always been supportive of me and my game. And she\'s played most of it and loves it as well.

I feel like I get inspiration from everywhere. All of those things. Most of my characters are inspired by various things compiled together. I don\'t think any of them are directly inspired by any one thing or even mostly one thing. I\'ve definitely been inspired by porn, comics, movies, games for all my stuff, but a lot of it came from personal experiences as well.

Is there a scene or story in other visual novels that had a profound impact on you? If yes, which 3 had the biggest?

I\'ll be honest, I don\'t play visual novels all that much and don\'t remember 3 things in others that had an influence on me. But I will throw out a mention of Eve\'s story in Summertime Saga. Summertime Saga was the game that convinced me to make a game myself and Eve\'s story was a big part of that and a huge influence on Adrian.

How do you convince a loved one to watch a movie you love, but they do not want to watch with you?

I wouldn\'t. If you make somebody watch something that you love, but they don\'t want to watch it, they probably won\'t like it and you\'ll just be disappointed. I\'ll never forget the time I talked my wife into watching Dr. Horrible\'s Sing-a-Long Blog for the first time and she was in a bad mood. I thought it would cheer her up, but like five minutes into it she turns to me and says \"Is this supposed to be funny?\" We turned it off and did something else. Came back and watched it a few years later and she loved it. Can\'t force things or you\'re not going to like the results.

I think it\'ll be great. Critical Role has been going for 10 years and things have to change at some point. It\'s the end of an era and it\'s not going to feel like the same game anymore, but that\'s okay. I just want all of them to be happy and successful, honestly.

Update 19 Post-Mortem

Update 19 has now been released after 9 months or so of work on it. It\'s the biggest update I\'ve ever done, it was the most difficult update I\'ve ever done, and it took the longest of any update I\'ve ever done. I have a lot of thoughts about it and I want to share them.

This is going to be a long post. If you hate the update, I don\'t expect this to change your mind, but for those who are interested in why I made the decisions that I made and how I feel about those decisions and about the Update in general, I hope that this will answer some of those questions.

If you haven\'t played Update 19 yet, I HIGHLY suggest you play it before reading this. I\'m going to spoil everything, so please play it first.

A Week of Patches

If you played the Update when I first released it and hit a bunch of bugs, it\'s highly likely that those bugs have been fixed by now.

We knew there was going to be bugs on this one. There\'s bugs in all of them, honestly. I test as much as I\'m able to, I have a small team of alpha testers who work really hard testing the game. But there\'s still only like five of them and one of me. When it goes to Beta testers, that\'s like maybe 50-100 more people that play the game. But when it goes out on Premium Edition, very quickly it\'s being played by thousands of people.

So there are bugs that get through and when an update is as complicated as what this one was, there was no doubt there would be bugs.

I\'ve fixed all the bugs that I could find and that have been reported over the past week. I also added in an end-game gallery since so many were asking for it, but you have to replay the update from the beginning to unlock it, since I didn\'t have the variables in the original script, sorry about that.

The Origins of Come Home

I want to start talking about this Update from the very beginning. Over five years ago now, Come Home started as kind of a mix of ideas that were all in my head at the same time. I had been playing Persona 5 and loved the social simulation in it. I had been writing erotica and had a bunch of stories I planned to publish as novellas. And I had been dipping my toes into adult games with stuff like Summertime Saga and Harem Hotel. That\'s where the idea of Come Home was born.

Originally, the idea was something closer to Persona 5. During the day, you had this big dating simulator with a lot of different characters. At night, you venture into the other world and dungeon crawl with alternate versions of those characters, looking for your father. This is what my original gameplan was and my original script reflected that.

As I got started on the game, things quickly changed. I listened to a lot of feedback - people don\'t like minigames, people don\'t like RPG combat, people don\'t want a grindy game system in their porn games. I understand that too - a lot of people just want to come and read a story and jerk off and that\'s it. They want something that is focused on the characters, not the gameplay. I completely understand that. Adult Visual Novels are not intended to appeal to an audience that is interested in gameplay.

I also learned that my coding and gamemaking capabilities were not quite up to snuff and I had no idea how to actually code a dungeon crawl and a combat system and all of that. It was a lot more work than I was capable of doing, especially when I\'m just starting off and learning everything all at once and I have no money to hire people or buy software or assets.

So I took all of this into account and took a step back on Come Home. Instead, I would just focus on the characters and the dating simulator and have a single chapter of the game where you go through the portal and find your father.

The outline at this point was that there would be two semesters of college and the player would go through the portal and find his father around Update 12, in the middle of the two semesters. Then he\'d come back, finish school and finish up all the characters\' stories.

This is just a little snippet of the planned second semester, with art, math, and computer science class. Some other characters, like Adrian weren\'t going to be introduced until this second semester as well.

As I continued making the game, I felt like this wouldn\'t really work well. For one, I already had so many characters in the game. Adding a second semester, (with three more planned teacher characters) just wasn\'t feasible. Plus, I felt like going through the portal and finding his father is more of a climax of the story and shouldn\'t happen in the middle.

So the outline was rewritten again and the \"through the portal\" chapter was moved to Update 19. This was a little over three years ago. This update has been agonizing me almost since I started making the game.

The Agonies of Update 19

I struggled so hard with this update from the very beginning. The plan was always that the MC goes to a fantasy world, meets alternate versions of the characters that he loves, reconciles with his father, and has to fight to get back to his real world. That\'s pretty much what was written in the outline from the beginning.

As it grew closer and closer, I became more and more scared of actually making it. I talked to several people about this over several years. I knew that some players would be annoyed by this update. Some players would hate the tonal shift. Some players would hate the fantasy world. Some players would hate RPG combat. I\'ll get more into those subjects later.

About two years ago, I sat down and looked over my outline again and was like, \"Do I really want to make this chapter this way?\"

I did a couple of rewrites

- Maybe the MC never goes through the portal at all? Maybe he\'s just happy where he is and lets his father go?

- Maybe the MC goes through the portal and it\'s just another world like his own. More of a Back to the Future style thing, where he sneaks in, finds his father, talks to him, and then gets back to his world and that\'s it?

- Maybe the MC doesn\'t ever go through the portal and instead just pulls his father back?

I spent a while writing a few other ideas and planning them out, just to see how I liked them. Every time though, I came back to the original idea - Fantasy world, alternate versions of characters, father is happy where he is.

Eventually, I had to just commit to doing it. Even though I knew that some fans would not like it. Even though I knew that some people would be genuinely upset about it.

It was hard, because even though I\'ve been doing this for so long and even though most people are supportive, the vocal minority still get to me when they harshly criticize the game. I knew that committing to making the update this way was going to be asking for a lot of that vocal criticism. I talked with people close to me for a long time about this and about how I was going to deal with it. Even though I was prepared for it, it\'s still been tough to see the reaction be basically exactly as I predicted.

Fantasy World with RPG Combat

So, why a fantasy world with RPG combat? Why not just do anything else?

Because I thought fantasy alternates of all of these characters sounded really fun. I had ideas in my head for a long time of alternate versions of these characters that I wanted to create and I thought this was a fun opportunity to do that.

Once I decided that the MC had to go through the portal, that meant that we had to see an alternate world. I wanted the other world to feel like something completely different. Originally, I had thought about doing a completely different art style for this update. Maybe switching to 2d hand drawn art or making all the characters in Blender or something. I ended up not really being able to do that, because of the time it would take to commission all the 2d art required. It\'s not something I could do on my own.

The whole point of doing an alternate world though was to see alternate characters. I don\'t want to see alternate characters in another mundane world - I want to see freaky weird versions of them, you know?

To me, a fantasy world like this was the most fun.

Okay, but why RPG combat?

This was one of those things that I just wanted to do. I thought about cutting it a couple of times and just making it be all visual novel stuff. It would have been much faster to do it that way and people probably would have still liked it / liked it more.

But the combat was something that I wanted. I wanted to try my hand at coding it. I wanted to see these characters in a combat situation and what they would do. I thought it sounded fun.

It went through a few different iterations. At first I was thinking something like Wizardry, where you don\'t see your characters, or you see the back of their heads. This felt very boring to me and not fun, so I scrapped it. Then I had a sort of Final Fantasy style, where you see both teams on different sides of the screen, they\'d run over and attack. This was a mess to code though, and I didn\'t like how small the characters were on the screen. I want to be able to see them. Like all the other elements of the game that I WANTED, but I knew some fans would not, I tried to minimize the annoyance, by making combat fast, easy, and completely skippable. If you don\'t like it, you literally don\'t have to do it. Doesn\'t matter - people are still going to complain about it.

Some people have guessed that maybe I\'m using this as a way of designing RPG combat in my next games or something. That\'s not the case. I have no intention of using this combat system for any future games at the moment. It was just something I wanted to do here.

The point is that I wanted the shift. I wanted going through the portal to feel like a completely different game. Maybe that\'s not a decision that some players would have preferred, but it\'s exactly what I wanted it to be.

The Theme

I think it was when I got to about Update 8 or 9 that I realized that Come Home had a bit of a theme that I didn\'t intend to put in it, but it snuck in anyway. This theme of loss and how people deal with it.

For those who don\'t know, my father died a couple years before I started writing Come Home. When he died, it completely flipped my life upside down. I got a divorce. I came out as bi. I quit my job. I was a mess.

I didn\'t intend to write so much of myself into these characters, but as I was looking at it later, I realized that nearly every single one of my characters had lost something and they were dealing with it in different ways. And the entire story is about how the MC\'s father could not deal with that loss and so he ran away from the entire world.

At this point, I knew that Update 19 was going to have a fantasy world with alternate characters and I knew that the final boss was this Ice Queen that was harassing the land and wouldn\'t let the MC leave. At that point however, I had penciled in that the Ice Queen was going to be Mrs. Mills.

Once I realized the theme of loss though, I felt that Lisa would be a better fit for the villain. In our world, Lisa has lost a lot. Suzy is everything to her. What if she lost Suzy? How would she handle that? Not very well, I\'m guessing.

Alternate Versions of the Characters

This was a ton of fun for me. Once we set up that there are alternate worlds out there, I think most people want to see alternate versions of the characters. That\'s the entire point of this sort of thing!

I just want to talk about some of my ideas that didn\'t quite make it or changed over time.

I looked for my original outline, where I marked down what I planned for alternate versions of each character, but I couldn\'t find it, so some of this is just working off memory.

Originally, as I said, Mrs. Mills was going to be the Ice Queen and I had Lisa in a smaller role somewhere and Suzy as a party member. When it came time to make the update, I knew I had to structure it in a way that limited the number of combinations of party members. The best way to do this, for me, was to group them - have a limited number of choices per group. Then I could layer images based on the group that the character was in. This cut down on the amount of work significantly, but that meant that I only wanted 12 characters to be party members, and picking those was pretty hard.

Since Lisa was the Ice Queen and Suzy was dead, that took those out of the picture. Originally, I had wanted Tammy as a sort of hand-to-hand fighter in the group, but I decided that I had Bai already in that role and it made sense for Tammy to be with Lisa, so I made Tammy the guard.

Reba I originally had as an Engineer - somebody who would create drones to attack the enemies, or maybe hit them with a wrench. I decided to go with a Barbarian though, mostly for the jokes. It was just more fun to write her like that.

I originally had Nora, Mrs. McGee, and Gertrude as a coven of witches that you meet, who help you, and maybe have an orgy. I ended up going in a different direction when I had the idea of Nora being a mermaid. I just really wanted to make an underwater mermaid scene. Once I took Nora out to do that, it didn\'t make sense to have Gertrude as a witch anymore either, so I switched her to a ghost. I felt like it was a little thematic that the MC gives Gertrude what she needs to let go of this world, like he helped her let go and start a new life in the real world. That left Mrs. McGee, who I still thought would make a great witch, with Pete as her thrall.

Dana was always intended on being a \"sexy warrior\". I saw her as a sort of valkyrie. Not a whole lot of hidden meaning there - she just looks hot in armor.

Adrian I originally had as an archer (for some reason), but then I thought that she should be a sort of real-life version of her Souls of War character. I pictured this Adrian as the version of herself that our Adrian wants to be.

Juliana didn\'t really change much. She was always intended to be a wizard, obsessed with books and learning.

Kendra I originally had as an elven princess for some reason, but the idea of her being a short-lived, frustrated fairy popped into my head and I loved it so much, plus it opened the door for so many good moments. Most of my favorite moments in the Update were from Kendra.

Mari was always going to be a druid/shapechanger. There was no other choice for her. Originally I planned on her being in a sort of hybrid form more often, along with maybe a furry sex scene, but I couldn\'t ever get the model to look the way I wanted it to, so I scrapped the idea.

Mi-Cha was always going to be a dancer. I imagined her sort of like Yuna from Final Fantasy X (who I know was a summoner and not a dancer), but that was a definite inspiration with her dancing on the water.

Jez I originally had imagined as sort of a town guard, but later I decided to flip that and have her be instead more of an outlaw. I toyed with the idea of having her do archery or something instead of guns. Wasn\'t sure I wanted any guns in the game. But I just picture Jez with guns and it looks right in my head, so I went with it.

Bai was always going to be a monk. No other ideas there.

Jamie was always going to be a cleric of some sort, but she was the last one that I added to the party lineup. For a while, I was planning on having Tammy as a party member and Jamie as somebody you just meet along the way.

Izzy was the one I struggled with for a long time. I wanted Izzy as a gorgon / medusa SO badly. It was one of the scenes that I had in my head from the start and one of the reasons I wanted to do alternate characters and a fantasy world in the first place. I really wanted a sex scene with Izzy as a gorgon and little snake hairs kissing his dick and everything. It\'s so hot in my brain. There were also a lot of little jokes bumping around in my head about \"getting stoned\" and stuff. Anyways, the limitations of Daz and my abilities with Daz ended up preventing me from doing this. I did some tests and the posing was SO time consuming and I never really liked how anything looked. Animation would have been a complete nightmare. So \"getting stoned\" got changed to \"blaze it\" and I made her a sort of pyromancer instead. I\'m still happy with it. Still love Izzy. But I wish I could have done that gorgon scene.

Mrs. Mills, since I wasn\'t going to make her the Ice Queen, I almost immediately came up with her actually just being the devil. It\'s fitting and it\'s fun. I loved her scene as well.

Brandi was originally going to be a Pirate Chef, but I took away the Pirate, since I didn\'t really have any scenes near the sea or anything. I toyed with the idea of her being a party member, but didn\'t really get anywhere with that. Then I liked the idea of her just being somebody your group runs into. It also gives her the opportunity to do some threesomes, since she has none with any of the main characters in the real world of the game.

Whitney, I originally had as something else I can\'t remember what it was now. But the idea of her being a centaur was just fun for me and a fun challenge to make in Daz and I wanted to try it. Originally her scene was bigger, but I kind of had to cut it down due to the complexity of having all the other characters there as well. It was just a logistical coding nightmare.

There were a few side characters that show up too. Some townsfolk that the MC sees. Some of the enemies are alternate versions of antagonists in the real world. There\'s Mickey, Reba\'s brother, which I thought was a fun scene. There\'s Claire cameoing as a scorpion woman.

And there\'s another scene with the \"Big-Tittied HotTub MILF. That\'s intended as a bonus Patreon-only scene (so is the sex scene with Joan, which I\'ll get to in a bit). I didn\'t want to cut off too much content for Free players, but I wanted at least two scenes for Premium players, so the BTHTMILF scene was a late addition. When I started working on the scene, I toyed with the idea of it being another Connie appearance instead and actually put it up for a vote on Discord, but in the end went with the BTHTMILF.

MC and his Family

Let\'s talk a bit about MC finally discovering what happened with his father, getting a bit of reconciliation with his mother as well, and meeting Joan.

This meeting with MC\'s father is something that I\'ve thought about since I first started writing the game. It\'s one of those things that you know has to happen at some point, but I wasn\'t sure how it was going to happen until we got closer. Until after I began exploring that theme of how people deal with loss.

MC has all these love interests who have dealt with their own loss. Particularly Mari, who lost her whole family and still goes to work with a smile on her face. Or Reba, who lost her father and still takes care of her mother. Or Kendra, who knows she\'s going to die, but still gets up and tries her best to enjoy the life she has. There\'s all these characters who have lost so much, but still fight to enjoy their lives and help the people around them.

Then there\'s Dad, who instead of dealing with his loss, abandoned his family and ran away from the world to chase after his dead wife.

It\'s sad. It\'s pitiful.

So that\'s how I pictured the MC\'s dad, when we finally meet him. He is a sad old man with a lot of regrets. He\'s not the strong, supportive, father that the MC knew.

It\'s kind of rough to write a scene like that. I don\'t know that I accomplished it completely. I can understand people seeing it as a bit of an anticlimax. But I also think that\'s kind of the point. The MC\'s goal when he started was to get his father back, but those goals have changed over time. He doesn\'t need his dad anymore. He has other people who love him who didn\'t abandon him.

Anyways, there\'s a little bit of my personal demons in all of this stuff. I hope some of it clicked with people. I don\'t think it\'s a perfectly written story, by any means, but it\'s what I felt.

The MC also gets to spend some time with his mother (who is not really his mother, but still kind of is). I felt like I did pretty well on that scene. I think it conveyed the emotion I was trying to convey. I wish I could have a final talk with my dad like that. I wish I could tell him all the things that I feel. I wrote some of them out in that scene and I felt like it worked.

Finally, there\'s Joan. Joan is a bit of a joke, I guess, but I just thought the idea of an alternate version of our MC was just too fun. And what if she\'s a girl and she fucks everybody in town, just like our MC does? The concept was funny to me, so I went with it. I put her in that blue top and khaki pants and tried to make her look close to the MC. Then I went through the same thought process as the MC does when he\'s trying to figure out how weird it is. I\'m like \"is this okay for Patreon?\" In the end, I came to the same conclusion as he did. She\'s not related to him. She\'s not him. It\'s just some woman. Since this scene was just a little bonus thing, I decided to make it a Premium-only scene, but I think it\'s fun.

Voices

Up until this point, I\'d been hiring voice actresses and including voicework in the game as I could. I didn\'t include any new voicework in Update 19 and there\'s a few reasons for that.

Firstly, some of the voice actresses that I have used up until this point are either not doing voicework anymore or I did not have a good experience using them and do not want to hire them again. It\'s unfortunate, but it\'s not possible for me to add new voicework for some of these characters without recasting them.

Some of the characters though I could have added more voicework for. There are several of the actresses that I really love and would want to work with again and probably will work with in the future. I didn\'t add more voicework from those actresses though, because I felt like it would be odd to have the update partially voiced, but obviously missing certain characters.

But, the main game is also partially voiced and missing certain characters too, right? Yeah, I there\'s still some characters I haven\'t cast, but I\'m hoping to. I just didn\'t have time this update. Sending out casting calls, listening to auditions, directing the actors, editing the audio, and putting all of that into the game is a lot of work and this Update was already taking so long, I decided not to attempt to add the voice acting for the update at all.

I know some people are going to be disappointed by that. Some people don\'t care about the voice acting and won\'t care at all.

I think I made a mistake by adding voice acting before the game was finished. It means that now I have to go back to those actresses and get more voicework to finish the game with. There\'s some of the actors that I\'m just not going to be able to do that with, leaving me to either recast and redo the whole thing, or have new actresses come in and take over, causing a voice switch in the middle.

Or just not finishing the voicework, which is obviously the easiest way, but also the most disappointing.

I probably should have stuck to my guns and told everybody asking for voicework to wait until the game was finished, then done it all at the end, before the full-game release. This game is still early access after all. It\'s not really meant to be played update by update. I should have planned for its final form a little better.

At the moment, I do not know if I\'m going to add more voices to the game. I would like to have voices for every character, even if it\'s only partial voices, but it will depend on if I find the right voice for the role. It would also be nice to have some actresses come back and do more voicework for endgame stuff, but it wouldn\'t be all of them.

I don\'t know how I\'m going to handle it yet.

Previews and The Trailer

I knew that this was going to be tough, but I wanted the update to be a complete surprise for people. I wanted it to come out of left field and make people go, \"What the fuck? Who put this fantasy stuff in my college porn game?\" That\'s absolutely what I wanted to happen. I knew some people wouldn\'t like it, but I hoped that most people would give it a chance and have fun with it.

In order to keep it a secret for as long as possible, I didn\'t do many previews throughout the development cycle. This was hard, and I lost a lot of patrons over the last 9 months or so, because I haven\'t been sharing as much as normal. It\'s all expected and understandable, but I did what I had to do to get the result that I wanted, which was a genuine surprise for the audience.

Some people don\'t like being surprised. Sorry, but that\'s the way it is. It\'s not like you were surprised by a roof falling on you or surprised by a bear in your toilet. It\'s just a silly porn game getting a little sillier. You\'ll be okay.

The trailer was fun for me as well. I wanted to convey the emotion that we are sort of saying goodbye here. Once again, dealing with loss. The MC has gone through the portal, leaving all the other characters behind. That stuff doesn\'t actually happen in the Update, but we can imagine it and the emotions are real. It\'s the first time I\'ve ever made renders exclusively for a trailer. I thought it turned out wonderful though. I really loved the trailer and I think that most of the audience did as well.

Update 19\'s Reception

So, I have established that I knew a long time ago that this was going to be a hard update. I knew that the reception was probably going to be polarizing. I knew that I was going to lose fans and maybe even lose money and maybe piss a lot of people off. Hell maybe everybody would hate this Update and think that the game was trash and this game would forever be known as that one game that was good up until the stupid twist at the end.

Maybe it\'ll still be known as that. But I wrote what I wrote for a reason and I hope that I\'ve explained that reasoning sufficiently.

I am not a perfect writer. I know that I did not craft the most perfect story. It\'s not going to be the best story ever told about loss. It\'s not going to be the best porn game story ever made. I\'m not the best writer in the world and I don\'t think that anything I make is ever going to be perfect. When somebody compares me to other writers like Drifty (Leap of Faith) or Dr. PinkCake (Acting Lessons) or whoever else, saying that they told their stories better, I\'m just like \"Okay, what do you want me to do about that?\"

If I\'m not as good a writer as those people, should I just stop? Go home? Never write again, until I can craft the most perfect narrative?

I\'m not going to do that. I\'m just going to keep writing the best that I can with all the heart that I can give it and hope that it\'ll connect with some people. What the hell else am I supposed to do?

So, I sent the first version of this to alpha testers several months ago. It didn\'t have the full update yet, but did have a more rudimentary version of the combat included. I wanted to test the waters with them a bit to see how they felt about the combat. At this point, I was considering removing the combat completely and just having it be normal visual novel stuff.

But, for the most part, the alpha testers actually thought the combat was fun and enjoyed the change of pace. There were a couple who were more iffy and a couple others who had suggestions to make the combat more fun.

One of my alphas at this point flat out told me that they hated it and that they don\'t play games with combat and if they would have known that the game was going to have combat, they wouldn\'t have played it in the first place. This is a sentiment that I expected and knew I was going to have to deal with.

I hear this sentiment all the time though, for different things.

My point is that from the very beginning, my whole thing with Come Home has been a sort of sampling of all kinds of different concepts that people can come and take what they want and enjoy what they want and maybe try some things that they wouldn\'t normally try and maybe find some things that they like that they didn\'t know they would like. I cannot tell you how many reviews I\'ve gotten from people who hate sandboxes, but really love the way that I\'ve implemented it. I cannot tell you how many people have messaged me saying that they didn\'t know they were into transwomen until they met Adrian. It makes me feel good every time.

People need to be a little more open to ideas. If you cannot enjoy a game because it\'s a sandbox or you cannot enjoy a game because it has a little combat minigame, or you cannot enjoy a game because it has a dragon or a sword in it or something, you are just going to be stuck playing the same stuff over and over again forever. Expand your horizons. Take a breath and try something new. It\'s fun and you might find something that you didn\'t know you would like.

Later, when he played the final version, that Alpha tester who told me that he hated that I was implementing combat, said that I had done a good job and that he was convinced. He enjoyed the combat. It was fun.

It made me feel amazing, just like it does every time somebody says that I showed them something that they didn\'t know they would enjoy.

I know that not everybody is going to be like that. Some people are going to hate it no matter what. Some people are going to be upset and feel betrayed and think I\'m an idiot for implementing this stuff. I\'ve read all the reviews and the feedback, and it\'s about what I expected. Most people enjoyed it. A vocal minority hate it and want everybody to know how much they hated it.

To them, I am sorry, but I\'m always going to do what I feel is the best for the game and for myself. I am not making the game for a single person and I\'m not making the game based on what I think that the majority of my players want. I\'m making the game based on what I want, with a little bit of input from the community.

That\'s what makes it art. It\'s not made by a community or a robot. You don\'t just get to type into a prompt and it spits out exactly what you want. It\'s made by a single person\'s brain and that brain might not always align with what you think is the best.

But in the end, it\'s what I think is the best.

Would I Change Anything?

As of now, no I don\'t think so. If I had an infinite amount of time, I might have made it a little longer. Added some more scenes at the beginning with MC\'s dad. Stretched the journey out a bit more. But the Update already took around 9 months to make and I just didn\'t have the time to add more content in there. I also did not want this update to overstay its welcome. It\'s a big departure from the main game and I wanted it to be quick and enclosed.

I\'d make Izzy a gorgon, haha. If I could do that scene justice, I would have done it. Maybe some future game, who knows?

I\'d have a little more Tammy in the update. Maybe even a sex scene. I had an idea that the MC would be imprisoned for a bit or something and maybe they\'d fuck in his cell. I don\'t know. One of those things that got cut for time and pacing.

So no, even though people are yelling at me and telling me that I\'m a horrible writer and that I ruined the game, I wouldn\'t change the update. It was always going to be this. It\'s the story that I wanted to tell.

What\'s Next? Q&A!

Firstly, I want to do a Q&A. So if you have any questions about anything regarding the game or me, put them in the comments below and I\'ll get to them. I\'ll probably post the answers to the Q&A in a couple of weeks.

Along with the Q&A, I\'ll be doing a sort of \"State of the RJ\" or whatever, talking about where the development is at and what is going to happen in the future. I\'m planning on revealing some things about what is coming after Come Home in that post.

Come Home Update 20 is my highest priority now. Update 20 will be the end of the game. I believe I will have it released before the end of the year, but I\'m not 100% on that. It will be close though. It won\'t be as long of a wait as Update 19 was.

Final Thoughts

Update 19 was a monster that I\'ve been grappling with for years and it\'s nice to finally have it out there. I\'ve been pleased with the amount of people who seem to get it and love it. I knew that there were going to be people upset about it, but I feel like that\'s going to happen no matter what version of the story I tell. It\'s probably going to happen with Update 20 as well - there\'s always going to be some people who aren\'t happy with endings. That\'s just the way it is.

Overall, I\'m happy with the update though. I thought it was a lot of fun. It had some emotion in it that I wanted to convey. It had a lot of funny moments. The combat is quick, easy, (and skippable if you hate it). It closes up the father storyline and it sets us up for our ending.

If you were happy with the update, shout it out in the comments. I need to hear it sometimes. The loud negatives always stick in my head more than the positives and the last week has been hard.

It\'s hard to work on something for nearly a year and then have people tell you that it\'s trash, or that I took the lazy way, or that I maliciously tricked everybody. I\'m not sure what these negative comments are trying to achieve, aside from just making a solo developer who works very hard feel bad. Mission accomplished there. Good job!

I interact with my community a lot and I read most of the comments and reviews that most people make, and maybe that\'s something that I shouldn\'t do. I know that a lot of other creators eventually get to the point that they stop interacting, because the negativity is hard to deal with over time. I haven\'t hit that point yet and I don\'t want to.

Thank you to the people who have been supportive. Especially on my Discord and over on Patreon. You guys are amazing and make all this bearable. I love you all so much.

And I love this game. It\'s my baby and I wouldn\'t ever abandon it or rush through it or do anything that I thought was harmful to it. It\'s what I wanted from beginning to end and it always will be.

Update 19 Premium Release

It's a much different update than everything that has come previously, but I hope you give it a try and that you love it and have a lot of fun.

As this is all endgame content, the changelog doesn't have much info about what is in the update. I've done my best to keep spoilers under wraps so that you can experience this the way I intended. I hope that you enjoy all the surprises in the update.

Update 19 Release Date

Hey everybody! It's been a long road on this update! I've had some comments of "Oh this game is dead" -- no no no. I've been working on it non-stop. This update is just enormous!

I think this is going to be a love-it or hate-it update. You're going to be like "RJ is a genius!" or you're going to be like "RJ has jumped the shark!" Either way, I'm excited for you to play it and I think there will be something in it for you to enjoy.

I'm about 95% done with the content at this point, so there's just a little bit left for me to make, then it's all testing and polishing and making sure everything is good for release.

So, with that said, I think I can announce the release dates:

  • Beta - July 4th (This is for high level patrons, who always get access a week before everybody else to give me feedback and help try to iron out any bugs.)
  • PREMIUM RELEASE DATE - July 11th
  • FREE RELEASE DATE - August 8th

If you are currently a Free player, the Steam Summer Sale is coming up right before the release date - the Premium Edition will be on sale. It's the perfect time to upgrade, so you don't have to wait that month for the Free version.

The premium version of Update 19 will have three sexy bonus scenes in it as well that won't be in the free version.

I'm expecting to finish the content over the next couple of weeks. I'll have a trailer out sometime in June. Then release is very soon. It's almost there, just hold on a little longer.

I'm really excited (and a little scared) to finally get this Update out. Over on my Patreon and in Discord I've been talking for literally years about this Update and how nervous I was about it. I knew a long time ago that this was going to be a big one and was going to be difficult in a lot of ways, and it has been. I really hope you all love it.

Update 19 Progress

Hey everybody! I know it's been a little while, but I've been working very hard on Update 19 and I wanted to give you a little bit of a progress report on how things are going.

The update has been very challenging as expected. If you saw my last news post back in December, I said that this Update is very different than previous ones and also is much bigger than previous updates.

I've been gradually making my way through all the work and right now we're at a little over 60% and I'm starting to see the end in sight.

I don't have too much else to share here, as I'm still trying my best to keep the story under wraps, but it had been a while since I'd posted any news here and I wanted to keep you all updated on how it's going. I haven't forgotten about you and I'm working just as fast as I possibly can and things are looking good right now.

Release date still seems to be sometime in the May/June area, but I can't give an exact date yet. I'm hoping next time I make one of these posts, I'll be able to do that.

Update 19 Progress Report

Hey everybody! It's been a little bit since Update 18 came out now and I wanted to let you all know how the next Update is coming along.

Update 19 is a different beast than anything that I've made so far. If you've seen the end of Update 18, you probably have some idea of where things are going in Update 19. It's very different than anything that has happened so far in the game. Most updates, I'm just adding more story and more content - dates, sex, major scenes, that's about it. This update, I'm having to write a lot more code and develop a lot of things from the ground up, because it's so different.

All that to say, this update is going to take a while. It's going to take longer than any of the previous updates have taken. But it's very big, it's very complex, and I think you're going to like it.

So what's in Update 19?

I don't want to spoil too much about Update 19. Unlike previous updates, I haven't really been releasing preview images or teasing content. Because of the nature of the update, I want to keep as much under wraps as possible. I will reveal this though:

- The conclusion of the "Where is Dad?" storyline.

- Sex scenes with many different new characters.

- A very different style of gameplay.

When is Update 19 Releasing?


Right now, I am about 25% of the way through completing the update. I can't give an official release date, but I think it's going to be somewhere around May 2025. This is *not* an official release date though, and it could end up taking longer than I expect.

I realize that is still a long ways away. I'm sorry I can't do it quicker. I'm working as hard as I can, it is just a very big, complicated update.

Is this the end of the game?


No, Update 19 is not the end. Update 19 is a *big* part of ending the story of the game, but there will be one more major update afterwards.

Update 20 I do not think will take me near as long as Update 19 will. It will be the conclusion of the game and wrap up all the stories for the different characters. It's going to have somewhere around 17 endings, but not much content outside of those endings.

And finally, I do plan on doing another update after Update 20. I'm not going to call it the *final* update, because who knows if I'll wake up and feel like adding more content to Come Home that day? But the intention of this update is to sort of smooth out all the unpolished areas that I can easily smooth out and to add in options that make all the characters a little more even - make sure all the characters have around the same amount of dates/sex/conversation content. A lot of this update will likely be Premium-only content.

So, right now the plan is Update 19 in May 2025, Update 20 probably Fall 2025, then polish the game out into it's final completed version towards the end of 2025/beginning of 2026.

Update 18 Progress

Hey everybody! It's been a while since I gave you a progress report on how the next update is coming along.

Everything is rolling pretty smoothly right now. The update is about 80% complete, as far as content. Then after that, it goes through the normal polishing and testing routine.

So what's in Update 18?

  • Major scenes for Suzy, Tammy, Jamie, Izzy, Kendra, Adrian, Gertrude, Mrs. Mills, Brandi, Bai, and Mi-Cha.
  • Major development in the "main" story.
  • A huge choice that must be made.
  • The end of the sandbox portion of the game.
  • Additional voice acting, including (probably) 2 previously unvoiced characters.

In addition the Premium Edition will gain more bonus content:
  • A bonus scene involving Brandi and a guest star.
  • A new threesome with a couple of favorites.
  • A beach date with Mari
  • A cafe date with Lisa
  • Bonus date outfits for Bai, Dana, Izzy, Lisa, Mi-Cha, Reba, Tammy, and Ms. Welch
  • At least 20 new images for the bonus gallery.

This update is a major story update. There's not very much in the way of optional sex scenes (that was last update). This one moves the main story forward and is the beginning of the endgame. I think there's a lot here that people are going to love. Maybe some stuff that people will hate too though, who knows?

When is Update 18 Releasing?

I was hoping to get it done a little earlier, but I've had a 10-day vacation planned in September all year, and it just happens to be around the same time that the update will be finished. I can't release the update when I'm not around to make sure it goes smoothly and fix bugs and stuff, so it has to wait until after I get back from the vacation. Sorry about that. Downside of this being a solo project.

But, it won't be too much longer and I don't foresee these dates changing.

Trailer should drop sometime towards the end of August.

State of the Game Year Four, Plus Q&amp;A

Hey everybody! I was trying to do one of these every year, but I guess I missed last year? I believe it coincided with the death of my wifes aunt, which was pretty traumatic and draining, so I guess I just forgot to do it.

But June 3rd was the four-year anniversary of the first release of Come Home. Its hard to believe its been that long. But then, when I go back and read my previous state of the games, it also feels like so long ago.

Goals from Two Years Ago


Two years ago, my goals were - steady releases of new content and to learn and improve my skills. Theres also some vague talk about a UI improvement. Lets talk about that stuff.

New Content


Releases have slowed down a bit in the last two years. And I think Im okay with that. When I first started this game, I wanted to do monthly updates (LOL). I thought Id finish the game in two years.

But over time, the quality of the renders, the complexity of the coding, and the size of the updates has increased so much that not only can I not get it done in one month, but Im struggling to get it done in four. Ive gotten faster at a lot of things, but Ive gotten slower at others. If I were still making the game at the quality that it was at two years ago, I have no doubt I could pop out an update in a month or two. But now, each image and animation takes much longer than it used to, despite my skills and hardware improving.

Im also working a bit less hours than I used to. When I started the game, I was a hungry new developer. This game was sort of my last grasp at making money writing. I needed it, or else I didnt know what I was going to do. So I spent an unhealthy amount of hours every day working on the game.

Over the last couple of years, Ive gotten more comfortable. Im living in a nice place, Im able to afford food and healthcare, and I dont feel like I might be homeless at any moment. Its allowed me to slow down a little bit and work at a more sustainable pace.

During those first two years I was making the game, I believe I gained 25 lbs. I also developed a Vitamin D deficiency. Because I spent much of my time sitting at the computer, and didnt go outside. The last two years, Ive been reversing that. Im much healthier than I was then. Ive lost all those 25 lbs, plus some, and now weigh less than I have in 10 years. And my Vitamin D deficiency is gone. I just feel so much better now.

So, thats why the releases have slowed down a bit. This schedule is much more sustainable for me and Im much happier than I was two years ago.

Improve my Skills


In the older State of the Game, I talked about spending time learning Blender and Unreal. Ive done that in the last couple of years. Im not an expert in either of these things, but I feel comfortable enough with both programs that I know what Im doing. I also feel comfortable enough to know that Blender and Unreal are likely not going to be part of my development pipeline going forward, as long as I remain a solo developer.

Ive been learning other software too in the last couple of years. I learned DaVinci Resolve, which I use to make the trailers that Ive been releasing with every update. And I have been learning Godot, which could definitely be used in future development.

And I feel like Ive improved my skills in Daz3D and Photoshop as well.

UI Improvements


I did this! I switched from the old UI to the new Polaroid UI. Some people didnt like it, but I do. And I think most players do. For me, it was a huge shift to the way the game was played. It made everything a little more simple and streamlined. It reduces the number of unnecessary clicks to get to the scenes you want to see. And I think it looks pretty good.

Its not the best. Im still learning a lot of this stuff. But I think its an improvement and Im happy with the way it turned out.

Im still working on UI improvements going forward and the UI will continue to be improved until the final version of the game is released.

My Personal Life Over the Last Two Years


I released Come Home in June of 2020. The year before that release was a pretty bad year.

But every year since then has been better and better.

The last year was probably the best year of my life. It started off pretty rough. My mom became disabled. The place we were living was quickly becoming unlivable. We attempted to buy a house, but all of that fell through. And then, my partners aunt suddenly passed away. It was a really hard few months.

But then, we found a really nice rent house with an amazing landlady. My partner and I got married after being together for 10 years. We went camping in some incredible places. We got more into fitness and have gotten so much more healthy. The Premium Edition DLC has continued to sell very well, allowing us to live much more comfortably than weve ever been able to in the past.

I honestly have no complaints. My life has been great over the last two years. Theres been some difficult moments, but compared to where we were, we are in an incredible place right now.

If everything stayed the way it is right now forever, Id be happy.

The Future


But things can never stay the same. Change is inevitable and its been on my mind a lot lately. By this time next year, I expect the final update for Come Home to be out. Thats both awesome and terrifying for me. My life has revolved around this game for some time now, so leaving that behind and starting something new is going to be very difficult for me and I can see the edge approaching, like stepping up to a cliff before diving off.

So, what are my plans and goals for the next year?

Three More Updates


Come Home has three more updates left. Those are my top priorities right now. Right now, Im expecting 18 to be released in September, 19 sometime around January, and then 20 around May. Its a little slower than I was expecting a few months ago. I wanted to get three updates out this year. But Updates 18 and 19 are enormous, and I just dont see that happening now.

Update 18 will be sort of the conclusion to the sandbox portion of the game and the beginning of the endgame.

Update 19 is going to be very different. I plan on keeping that under wraps completely. Dont expect to see many previews for Update 19 before release.

Then, Update 20 is going to be the conclusion and will be basically all the different endings of the game (around 17 or so).

No More Come Home?


After those three updates, I plan on adding a little more content to Come Home. I plan on doing a cleanup run, with some rewrites and hitting all the minor fixes that Ive been putting off. I plan on adding a few more things to the game as premium/patron-only content. Ill likely take some requests on Patreon for more content as well.

After I get all of that in the game and cleaned up, which will hopefully be by the end of next year, the Premium Edition will become the Complete Edition. After that, I will work on things like translations, or possibly adding more voicework to the game, but at that point the game will be finished.

At this point, Im not sure if Ill ever come back to these characters or not. I have some ideas, but I plan on putting them on the backburner and working on other projects for a while.

Future Games


Ive been tossing around ideas for future games in my head for a while. I have three or four that Im very passionate and excited about. A couple of them would be difficult for me to do as a solo developer. Right now, Im not sure exactly which one I will jump into first.

Part of me wants to write a more straightforward narrative story next. Focus entirely on the story and the characters and just make a classic adult visual novel. Another part of me wants to make a more game-like game. I have ideas for both that Ive developed pretty extensively over the last few years, in the background, but I havent decided which Im going to do next quite yet. It will depend on how I feel after Come Home is finished, what the marketplace looks like, and if technology has changed any by then. Well see.

I do have games planned though. I will be making a game after Come Home. Whichever way I go, I think youll like it.

Update 17 Progress Report and Spoiler Changelog

Hey everybody! Here's the new title screen for Update 17. Went with the MILFs this time, as they all have big scenes in the update, and I don't think that Mrs. Mills has ever been on the title screen (except for the Premium Edition promo that I did all the characters on).

The content for Update 17 is completed and I've been testing and polishing all week. It's getting there - there's still some things I have to take care of before it goes to Alpha testers next week. I'm tracking down some music and sound effects and getting those in place. Redoing some menus and cleaning up some things to make the game flow better. Just the normal stuff. And I'm also working on a trailer for the new update, as well.

That's about everything I've been working on. I started getting sick last night (throat swollen, mucus, hard to swallow, tired). I think I must have picked up something at the gym yesterday. It's pretty frustrating, because I have so much to do right now, but hopefully it won't take me down too much.

- Fixed an issue where when taking Kendra to the park restroom after a date, she would change back into her skatergirl outfit post-sex instead of the clothes she wore on the date.

- Fixed an missing image issue that caused a crash in the premium edition with Kendra's alternate go-kart date outfit.

- Fixed the Lisa conversation replays, which were causing errors and crashes.

- Fixed an inconsistency where you take Mari out for a date to the bar after work, but it describes the MC going to her house to pick her up.

- Fixed an issue where after the Mrs. Mills bondage scene, it would not go to the next time of day correctly.

January Progress Report

Hey everybody! It's been a little while since I posted a progress report! I wanted to give Update 16 a little time to soak in before I started talking about Update 17.

But I've been hard at work on the next update for a while now. Everything is looking good so far. It's a little smaller than the last few updates have been, but that means that it won't take quite as long to release.

With Update 17, I really feel us getting closer to the end of the game. I wouldn't say that this is a "filler" update, because there is some character story stuff that happens here, but in a lot of ways this is the last update that I can fit certain scenes in before we start the endgame rolling. So, this update is mostly sex. There's not any "main story" progression in it. I'm trying to put the content in here that I want in the game before we start wrapping up the main story.

So let's tease a little of what Update 17 is going to contain:

  • Major scenes for Dana, Suzy & Tammy, Juliana, Adrian, Mrs. Mills, and Jez.
  • New date locations for Lisa, Suzy & Tammy, and Nora.
  • New sex options for almost every character, including 7 threesome scenes (4 of which pair previously unpaired characters).
  • Several things that have been promised earlier in the game are delivered.
  • Additional voice acting, including at least one character who was previously unvoiced.
Premium Edition will also gain more bonus content:
  • Bonus date locations for Mi-Cha and Brandi.
  • A bonus scene involving a threesome with Lisa.
  • A bonus scene involving a threesome with Izzy and a possibly surprising third.
  • Bonus date outfits for Bai, Brandi, Dana, Izzy, Jez, Kendra, Lisa, and Mi-Cha.
  • At least 20 new images for the bonus gallery.
So, if you like sex, there's a lot of it in the update. If you're more into the character stories, there's some good stuff here as well, especially for Juliana, Adrian, and Jez.

As said, there's no main story progression here though. So if you're here for the main story, not going to see anything for it in this update. This will be the last update with no main story progression though, as Update 18 will launch us into the endgame. It's going to be a wild ride.

Besides the stuff I've highlighted here, I'll continue to update and improve the menus, fix bugs, and improve the game as much as I possibly can.

So, when is Update 17 going to release?

Right now, I'm about 60% done with the content in the update. But after finishing the content, I still spend a couple weeks testing, coding, updating menus and polishing everything. Then another week in alpha testing and another week in beta testing. So it's still a little ways away.

These dates are tentative, but I feel pretty good about them:
  • Premium Edition - April 5th
  • Free Edition- April 26th

To premium edition players, there is also a patch here to fix some of the bugs and inconsistencies that have been found in the last few weeks. All of those changes are in the changelog as well.

Update 16 Trailer and November Progress Report

Over the last month, despite getting married and taking a week off for my honeymoon (it was great, thank you for all the congrats and well wishes), I also finished up all the content in the Update and have been testing it and improving things. I think you'll all like the additions I've made. I'm always looking for ways to make the menus more clear, the hint system more robust, and the sandbox less cumbersome.

Next week I'll be sending the Update over to my alpha testers, then it will go into beta the week after that. Reminder that beta release is for my high-tier ($20+) subscribers over on Patreon, if you want to get in on that. Then the week after, the Premium Edition will release here on Steam. Here's the dates, to make it a little more clear:

Beta ($20+ Patrons) - November 27th
Premium Edition - December 4th
Free Edition - December 22nd

This is the first time I've not released on a Friday and am instead releasing the beta and premium edition on a Monday. This is because of Thanksgiving. I'll be out of town for the Thursday and Friday around Thanksgiving, so won't be able to get the final touches done on the Beta release until the weekend. That pushes the Premium release back a couple of days as well. And I decided to keep the free release on Friday two weeks later.

That's pretty much it! I'm really excited about this update. I'm feel very good about it. I can't wait for you all to play it. It's looking very good.

October Progress Report

Hey everybody! I wanted to let you all know what's going on with development of the update right now.

I'm still working hard on it and am about 80% done with the content at this point. I expect to be finished with the content by the end of the month, but after that there is still some coding that I have to do - improving the menus, adding all the hint text, things like that - plus all the testing that has to happen before release.

So I'm currently still expecting release for the Premium Edition to be close to the beginning of December and then the Free Edition two weeks after that.

Another thing that is slowing down production a bit. I'm actually getting married this month. My partner and I have been together for 10 years and we're finally making it legal. So that's taking a little time away from my work. And we have a honeymoon planned for the end of the month that I'll be taking a week off for.

Things are looking good though. The update is coming along nicely. I love working on this game. I love all the fans and you have all been so supportive and amazing. Thanks for everything!

September Progress Report

Hey everybody! I wanted to let you all know how things are going on the development end right now.

Update 15 was released in July and I've been working on Update 16 non-stop since then. It's a big update and I'm close to halfway done with it right now. I don't have a release date to tell you on it yet, but expect it to be somewhere around the beginning of December.

Just to tease a little though, here are some of the things you can expect to see in Update 16:

  • Major scenes with Suzy, Tammy, Izzy, Nora, Brandi, and Bai.
  • For the first time, dates with Lisa.
  • New date locations for Suzy/Tammy, Dana, Izzy, and Bai.
  • The return of Brandi Chat.
  • Tons of new sex options for almost every character, including 4 threesomes and 2 foursomes.
  • Around 800 new images and 56 new animations.

The Premium Edition also gets some more bonus stuff:
  • A new Souls of War scene with Adrian.
  • A threesome scene involving Gertrude.
  • Bonus beach date with Juliana.
  • Alternate date clothing options for Brandi (Theater), Dana (Bar), Izzy (Theater), Jez (Luigi's), Kendra (Grotto), Mi-Cha (Theater), Reba (Lake), Suzy (Jackson Burger).


There's a whole lot more than this, but this is just the highlights. I also plan on spending more time on the menu system and improving that a bit, adding more functionality to it and visual appeal as well. I realize that some people were disappointed that the percentages were taken away in the last update and while I don't plan on adding them back in the same form, I'll be putting something else there that accomplishes the same thing in a better way, I think.

Okay, that's pretty much all I have right now. I'm getting back to work. Still have a long way to go before the update is finished. I'll make another progress report next month. June Progress Report

Hey everybody! Here's a quick update on what is going on with me and the game right now.

Personal Stuff


First of all, thanks for the outpouring of support in the last post, where I talked about my partner's mom passing. It's been a really hard time.

We're still mourning her loss, but there have been some good things that have happened in the last month as well. We moved to a new house, which is a much better living situation for us. I have fast internet now, for the first time in my life, moving from 3Mb/s to 1Gb/s. Huge improvement that will speed things up on the game.

So while May was pretty rough for me on a personal level, we're turning all that around for June and hopefully my personal life will not interfere with the game again for a while.

Update 15 Release


At this time, I've finished all new content for the update and am currently working on testing and polishing everything. This is going to take me a couple of weeks to do, as I move through all the new content and make sure it all looks and acts the way it's supposed to. I'm also implementing some new menus to help improve the game's appearance and functionality. Then the game goes to my testers before the Premium Edition release.

Due to the death in the family and the move, I'm going to have to push the release date back by a week from the date that I said last month. Sorry about that, but I hope you understand. These dates should be solid though:

Premium Edition - July 7th
Free Edition - July 21st

May Progress Report

Hey everybody! Just wanted to give you all a short update on what's happening with the next update right now.

If you haven't already read last month's progress report (https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1724190/view/5976881566074288324), that's where I talk about what is going to be in Update 15.

Personal Stuff


I also, mentioned that my mom and my partner's mom have been in the hospital. I had a couple of people ask about how they're doing and wish me well, which I really appreciate. My mom is okay and is at home, though she's on an oxygen machine now, which means I have to go and help her with a lot more things than I used to.

To be clear, when I say "my partner", I'm talking about my girlfriend who I've been with for 10 years and plan on marrying, not a game development partner or business partner or anything. My partner's mom, very suddenly, was diagnosed with Stage 4 liver cancer and the doctor gave her a life-expectancy of 2 weeks. This was roughly two weeks ago. She's still hanging in there right now, but just barely and we're expecting her to pass away any day now. She's at home on hospice and my partner is with her, roughly a 5 hour drive from where I live. I went down and visited her family, but then came back home, though I'm expecting to go back down there soon to be with them again.

So, that's what's going on in my personal life right now. I share it with you only because, since I'm the only person working on this game, my personal life is going to occasionally interrupt development like this. Right now, it hasn't really slowed me down much. But since I'm expecting to have to go to a funeral and help with my partner's family in the next few weeks, development on the game is likely going to be interrupted a bit.

When is the next update going to release?

Right now, new content for the update is about 85% complete. After that's done, I have to do all the testing and polishing and everything, but I'm moving along pretty well.

If everything goes as planned, these will be the release dates for Update 15:

Premium Edition - June 30th
Free Edition - July 14th

These dates are tentative right now. If I end up having to be out of town during that time, or if I have to take more days off than planned to help with my family, then I'll have to push these dates back some. Hope y'all understand.

I am working hard though, and doing my best to get this Update out as quickly as I can. I hope you're all excited for it. There's a lot of cool stuff here.

April Progress Report

Hey everybody! I wanted to give you a quick progress report on how the next update is coming along.

I've been working hard on it, but I've had a lot of things going on in my personal life that have gotten in the way a little bit of my work. I'm trying to find a house to move to, my mom has been in the hospital, now my partner's mom is in the hospital as well, and I'm basically dying of allergies.

But progress on the update has been steady.

What's in the next update?

New content for all characters, of course, but there are a lot of major scenes as well. Lisa, Suzy, Mari, Kendra, Adrian, Gertrude, Bai, and Mi-Cha all get major scenes.

In addition to these major story scenes, there's a lot more sex scenes, 8 new dates, 20 new conversations, and some new options as well. If you like the sex screen that I've been using for Mrs. McGee, Mari's furry sex, or Kendra's repeatable sex, good news, I'll be adding that screen to other repeatable sex scenes as well, so you can switch positions without ending the scene and coming back the next day.

Two new characters are getting voices this update, and I'm also adding some more voicework for Kendra and Mari. I'll go ahead and announce here that one of the characters getting voiced this update is Dana. The other, I'll keep secret until the trailer.

There won't be any progress on the "main story" of finding Daddy in this update. After the jewelry store scene last update, Whitney is hard at work completing her device using the recovered diamonds.

What new content can you expect in the Premium Edition?

If you bought the Premium Edition, you'll get some bonus goodies in Update 15.
  • I'm adding 20 new bonus images to the gallery. If I have time, I'm planning on organizing the bonus gallery a little better too, so you can click a character to see all the bonus images with that character. I'm not sure I'll have time to do it this update, but eventually.
  • A new Cafe Chat / one-night-stand with a character who has made an appearance before - I've been wanting to add more of these. Claire being the only one-night-stand so far. The Premium Edition feels like the perfect place for bonus content like this.
  • A new scene with an old character. I don't want to spoil too much about this one, but it's one that some people have been asking for.
  • Adrian & Kendra double-date, with repeatable post-date activities.
  • New date clothing options for Bai at movie theater, Brandi at arcade, Izzy at Luigis, Jez at The Pit, Kendra at the go-karts, Mi-Cha at the cafe, Reba at Jackson Burger, and Suzy & Tammy at the movie theater.

When is the next update going to release?

Right now, I am at almost 50% complete with the content for the update. I think the second half will move a little faster than the first. Then I have to do all the testing and stuff that is necessary before actually releasing it.

My schedule currently estimates that the update will release for Premium Edition users towards the beginning of July. The Free Version would come two weeks later. I'm not quite ready to put down a definitive date yet, but expect it somewhere around then.

I'm working as hard as I can on getting it done. There's a lot of scenes in it that I think you guys are going to love and I can't wait to share them.

Announcing the Come Home Premium Edition

I'm excited to announce the Premium Edition DLC that I'll be releasing along with the next update for the game on March 3rd!

Come Home is a free game and is always going to remain free, but for those who want to support the game and receive a lot of bonus content in return, this DLC is for you.

What is in the Premium Edition?

  • All previous and future clothing packs - I am discontinuing the clothing pack DLCs and instead will be including all previous and future bonus clothing expansions in the premium edition. So it will contain the Mari, Jamie, Adrian, and Juliana packs that have already been released, and Update 14 will also include new clothing options for Reba and Whitney. New bonus options will continue to be added every update until every character has at least one exclusive clothing option per date location.
  • Additional sex options and positions - Every update will contain some exclusive sex options and positions. Update 14 will include sex with Suzy in pigtails (with hair pulling), and a BJ from Mi-Cha, while her hands are tied. More exclusive sex options will continue to be added every update until each character has multiple exclusive sex positions/options.
  • Additional Date Locations/Options - Every update will contain some exclusive date locations and options. Update 14 will include the option to take Mari's dogs (Appa and Momo) to the park with you. More options will be added every update until eventually every character has at least one premium edition exclusive date location.
  • Bonus Image Gallery - A gallery of bonus images that can be unlocked by progressing in the game. These images were formerly exclusive to Patreon and some are brand new and never before seen. There will be 40 images available in the gallery with Update 14 and more will continue to be added to the game with every update.
  • Early Access - The Premium Edition will receive updates at least two weeks before the Free Version does. This will stay true for every update, until the game is completed.

When will the Premium Edition be available?


I'll be releasing the Premium Edition on March 3rd along with Update 14. I'll make an announcement then, and you'll be able to buy it in the store and play Update 14 immediately.

How much will the Premium Edition cost?


The Premium Edition is priced at $14.99, but I'll be running a 30% discount for the first week of release to reward early buyers.

What happens to the DLC I already bought? Do I get a discount on the Premium Edition?


I really appreciate those of you who bought the DLC packs. Your support for the game has helped me so much.

If you bought one of the clothing packs, they will continue to work.

Unfortunately, there is no way for me to provide a discount for those who have purchased the previous DLC. I wish I could. When I released those packs, I was not planning on doing a full Premium Edition like this. That's part of why I am discounting the Premium Edition at launch. I hope that you understand and will continue to support the game.

Will there be other DLC in the future?


No, this is the only planned DLC for Come Home. All future bonus content will be included in this package. So you only have to pay this once and you'll continue to receive access to all bonus content until the game is complete. I have no plans to re-release the game or add additional DLC once the game is complete either. This is it - pay once and get the complete game.

Will the Free Version still be supported and updated?


Nothing is changing with the free version. The free version will still continue to be updated and I will eventually complete it. The premium edition only contains bonus optional content.

Yes, you should be able to upgrade to the Premium Edition without it affecting your saved games.

RJ Answers a Bunch of Questions

Hey everybody! I had a lot of good questions get asked for the Q&A. I sat down and typed up answers for all the ones that I felt like I could and weren't repetitious. There's a lot to read here, so I tried as best as I could to organize it.

QUESTIONS ABOUT CURRENT GAME CONTENT

Is Adrian transgender or a crossdresser?

Adrian is a transgender woman. She was born male, and has transitioned to female. She has not had surgery, but is on hormone therapy. Shes not a crossdresser, she is a woman.

Why did Adrian keep her male name?

She didnt. Adrian was not the name she was born with. Its the name she chose after she transitioned. I understand that Adrian can be a male name, but here its not.

Is the main character a genius?

Hes definitely smart, though he can be a bit of a dope sometimes. Genius? Not sure about that.

How do I win the fight with Rebas brother, Mickey?

You have to train MMA with Tammy before the fight scene with Mickey.

Did you get "Mouth Feel" from Bob's Burgers? :D

Nope! Ive only watched a little of Bobs Burgers and dont remember that. I also dont remember using it in my game, but I definitely could have! lol

How did Whitney end up in a wheelchair?

As a child she had a tumor removed from her spine and the surgery paralyzed her.

Why cant I get Reba to fix dads car?

Dads car might not even be broken. The issue is that the MC does not have the key to it and nobody knows where the key is. Reba cant even attempt to start it without the key.

QUESTIONS ABOUT FUTURE CONTENT

Will there be any new characters?

I dont currently have any plans for new main characters. Twenty characters, each getting more content every update is a lot for me to do. If I add more characters, it would increase the time between updates as well. There will likely be more small side characters that pop in occasionally, or more content with side characters.

Will the main story continue?

Absolutely. The main story will continue and conclude in Update 20. As we get closer to the end of the game, the main story will begin to have more content.

Will there be a translation into other languages?

Yes, I will do translations into many other languages, when the game is finished. It does not make sense for me to do a translation at this point, when the game is still being worked on and changed every few months.

Will there be a "family patch"?

No. There is no incest in this game. You can choose what youd like to call them in the game, but Suzy and Lisa are not related to the main character in any way and the story would not make sense if they were.

Will there be story arcs for old-aged characters?

There will be some content for older side characters in the future, but no new characters with full story arcs.

Do you have more plans for LIs to cross paths?

Absolutely. Theres going to be more crossover towards the end of the game, for sure.
Will you allow love interests that have been rejected by the player to pair off?
There are currently no plans for this in the game. I just dont have a good place to include it in the story.

Is pregnant content planned?

It depends on what you mean by pregnant content. If you mean having sex with big-bellied pregnant women, then no there is no pregnant content planned. If you mean will it be possible to get the women pregnant, or will we ever see any of the women pregnant, then yes there are some plans for that.

Keep in mind that even though you can spend as many number of days as youd like playing the game, the story is intended to take place during a single semester of college. Thats like 5 months or so. So even if you got a woman pregnant on the very first day you came back from Brazil in the game, shes only going to be about 5 months pregnant at the end of the game. So it doesnt make sense to have big-bellied pregnant women during the story.

Will we have to make a decision about who we want to be with, or will it be a harem game?

I dont want to talk too much about the ending of the game, but there will be a harem ending. If you dont want to have to make a decision, dont worry. I got you covered.

Will different hair styles be added to the sex scenes?

I dont currently plan to do this. Re-rendering sex scenes for each hair style is a lot of work and I feel that time is better spent elsewhere.

How long will the full game be?

Update 20 will be the end of the game. Its entirely possible that I add more optional content after I finish the game though. I have no idea how big the final version of the game is going to be. Pretty massive, Id think.

Will we ever see Adrian with long hair?

Probably!

Any plans for a walkthrough?

No. I put a lot of work into the hint system in the game. I feel that is sufficient.

Any plans to release an OST?

I cant. Most of the music in the game is copyright free. I can use it in the game, but I cant sell it as a soundtrack, because I dont own the music.

Will we be able to introduce Jamie to Dana?

Theyll likely meet at some point. I like having my characters meet.

Are you going to add bondage with Suzy?

Maybe!

Will there be additional lesbian/threesome scenes?

Absolutely!

Will a side character (Rose, girl in Whiterock coffee shop, jogging girl, any of the people from Ms. Welchs party, Connie the waitress, Izzys aunt, Claire) have a role later in the story?

Some of the side characters are just there for their small parts, but others will have some optional content later in the game. And some might make an appearance in future games.

Will we get to see more interactions between characters? It would be great if we could choose to introduce one character to the other and let them interact.

Absolutely. As we move towards the end of the game, characters will interact more often. Choosing to introduce one character to another will be possible for some of the characters, but doing each character combination would be like 200 scenes, which is a little beyond my scope. I have certain characters that I plan to interact with each other though. Weve already seen some of that, and there will be more in the future, for sure.

Will there ever be an option in the game somewhere to be monogamous with a specific character?

Yes, there will be a choice towards the end of the game.

What do you have planned for future DLC?

Ill have more information about this in January, but I plan on releasing a premium edition of the game that contains a lot of extra optional content, and discontinuing the release of smaller DLC packages.

Is there any chance of group fun with Suzy, Tammy , Lisa, Kendra , Reba, and Mari ?

There will never be any sex scenes with Suzy and Lisa together, due to rules by Patreon. The others are all a possibility though.

More male love interests?

There are currently no plans to add any more love interests of any gender. There will be some optional sex with male side characters at some point, but Bai will be the only male love interest to get a full story.

Can we get a gallery that can be accessed from the main menu?

Because of the way I have the gallery in the game, where you play through the entire scene, not just see the images, I dont have an easy way to add that to the main menu. I dont have plans to add a gallery there.

When will the main story continue?

It will move forward a bit in the next update, and probably every update after that as we ramp up closer to the ending.

Any more scenes for my favorite character?

Every character will get more content every update.

Will Suzy find out about Lisas relationship with the MC?

Maybe! Itd definitely be difficult to keep having sex with both of them without them finding out about each other at some point.

Will you eventually have to choose a single partner?

No, you wont have to choose.

Will Gertrudes relationship develop to something more than just sessions?

There will be more before the end of the game, but Gertrudes story is not as expansive as some of the other characters.

When will we find the keys to Dads car?

Cant answer this one! I know a lot of people are wondering it though. I didnt forget about it, I promise!

Will there be consequences for being with multiple people at the same time anytime soon?

No, not really. Thats something that I didnt want in this game. Eventually, some of the characters will want to be more exclusive, but since the game takes place in a short period of time, theyre okay with it for now. There wont be any consequences in the game for being with multiple people. I just think Its more fun that way and I dont care to write a lot of relationship drama and bickering.

Will Adrian ever get bottom surgery?

At the moment, she hasnt decided if she wants it. She wont be getting the surgery during the game, no.

QUESTIONS ABOUT FUTURE GAMES

Would you be open to creating more gay characters in future games?

Absolutely. There will likely be LGBTQ characters in every game I make. Im all about inclusion.

Do you have ideas for what you want to do in the future for a new game?

Absolutely. I have the next game planned out almost entirely already. And the one after that I have a pretty heavy outline for as well. Then I have ideas for multiple other games, to come.

I have an idea for a game can I give it to you?

Id rather you didnt! Id rather you go make your own game. As I said in the last question, I have a TON of ideas. I come up with ideas for games all the time. The issue is having the time to work on all of them. I want to finish one game before moving on to the next one, so a lot of the ideas I have, I wont be able to work on until years later, and Im really looking forward to them.

Im never going to be as passionate about your idea as you are.

Can we get some hints about your future games?

Ill give a couple of small ones.

The next game is going to be shorter than Come Home and more focused on the story, more cinematic, and less sandboxy. Its going to be quite a bit different than Come Home. The goal is to finish that one in under a year. Im expecting to start this one in 2025

The game after that will be my next big one around the same size as Come Home and will be a sandbox, but also have some RPG elements in it. Itll be more of a game than just a visual novel. Im expecting to start this one in 2026.

Still a long way to go on Come Home.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE MAKING OF THE GAME

Do you have the entire story arc outlined, or are you making it up as you go? Or is the main father arc planned but everyone else's made up? Or some combination thereof?

I do. I have had every characters story and the main story entirely planned out since the beginning. Ive changed a few things from the original plan, but the ending has always been planned and I know exactly where every storyline is going.

From a creative standpoint, what takes you the longest to work on? Story? Renders? Programming? Finding time because of life happening?

Renders take the longest for me, by far. I split my time up into workdays, which is the amount of work I expect to finish in a day of work. Using the current update (14) Im working on as an example, the update is expected to take about 81 workdays. Posing and setting up renders is 66 of those.

What are the pros and cons for having 20 love interests and will future games have a similar amount?

The pros diversity. Theres something in Come Home for everybody. I think almost anybody will find at least one character that they love.

The cons I cant go as deep into a characters storyline as I would necessarily like to do. Theres just not enough time. It spreads the story pretty thin, and makes the game a little more shallow than some people would like. I understand that too. Come Home is a little more about quantity than quality. But the reason I chose to make 20 love interests is so that I could experiment with many different things. I didnt know how the game would be received or if Id ever make another game, and there was so much that I wanted to do that narrowing it down just wasnt possible.

My future games will probably not have as many love interests, no. The next two games I have planned have much fewer.

How did you arrive at the 'theming' for each datable person?

When I first started brainstorming the game, I pretty much picked out stereotypes The book nerd, the gamer girl, the food blogger, the gang leader, the skater girl. I think I came up with like 25 or so. Then I started expanding on them and seeing if I could come up with a story for each of them that I liked. Then I cut the ones that I didnt feel like I could expand on enough, or just didnt have room for.

Do you ever include LI elements that "do nothing" for you personally? Or do you work from a perspective of "what would *I* like to see in a game like this?"

My tastes are pretty varied. I cant think of anything that Ive included in the game that I dont personally think is hot.

Has any parts of the story surprised you in how it looks now compared to your initial vision?

It has, for sure. Some of the stories have been changed from the initial vision. Ms. Welchs is almost completely different, Maris is significantly different. And some of the other stories have gone in slightly different directions as well.

I think what has surprised me the most is things Ive worked through personally with my writing. There are some things that I noticed I write about very frequently in the story, and theyre things that Ive had to deal with in my personal life, and was subconsciously including in the game.

I didnt really pick up on the THEME of this story until just a few updates back. I dont really want to go into what I believe the theme of the story is just yet, but you guys may be able to pick up on it. Id be curious what you all think it is.

How did you get the idea for the game?

I started out writing romance novels planning on writing them quickly and publishing one a month for a year and seeing how they did. It was sort of an experiment. Then I played Summertime Saga and I was like, hey I can make these romance novels into a game instead. I have no idea where the idea came from for the missing dad and the hula hoop portal. Thats all just my silly brain.

How often do you update?

Whenever I finish the content planned for that update. Lately its been taking me around three months per update. Some updates are bigger than others though.

Why did you choose Brazil as the location where the MC goes to school?

South America was the first thing that came to mind when I was writing the story I just wanted him to be in a different country, basically. Originally, I had just written South America when he says where he went, but people said that sounded weird (and I agree), so I narrowed it down to Brazil. I understand that its not very believable, but I wasnt really going for realism with the main story about alternate universes and hula hoop portals powered by diamonds and meth.

Do you accept donations in the form of proposing to pay for voice actresses?

I definitely accept donations and support, but Ill ultimately decide what that money goes towards. Hiring voice actresses will be part of that though.

What is the plan as far as voices in the game going forward?

Ill be adding in voices for various characters when Im able to. I made a bit of a mistake adding Kendras when I did. I should have written out the rest of Kendras story, so that I could have the actress record lines for the updates that havent been released yet. Fortunately, Haruluna, who does the voice of Kendra, is easy to work with and I can just hire her again later to do lines in the remaining updates.

But for the rest of the characters, I want to write out all of their scenes and figure out which dialogue I want voiced before hiring the voice actress. Which means I have to write ahead a bit. I have the outline for remaining updates finished, but I dont have dialogue written yet. I want to do that before moving ahead further with voices.

But eventually, I want to have all the characters voiced. Not completely voiced, but like I have with Kendra. Some particular bits of dialogue, sex noises, and greetings and such.

How complete is the game?

Update 14 is releasing soon. There are planned to be 20 updates total. So, the game is about two-thirds of the way complete. I expect to be finished with it sometime towards the end of 2024.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE DEVELOPER

Will RJ have content in the game?

No, RJ will only be shown in tutorials and will never be a romanceable character in the game.

What got you started on game development?

Ive always played video games and been interested in development. I wanted to be a writer, but its really hard to make a living publishing novels. I saw some success of other adult visual novels, and thought I could do that and maybe I would be able to make a living doing it, so I learned everything I needed to make the game and switched gears to game development.

Where do you draw inspiration for creating the looks of a character?

I knew from the beginning that I wanted a diverse cast. I love diversity. I love inclusion. After that, its really just personal taste. My tastes are very wide in scope. I think everybody is beautiful in a way.

What do you think are the biggest differences, when a male protagonist is written by a woman or vice versa and is that easy for you or challenging?

I almost think it would be better if the audience told me this than the other way around. I do my best to write from a male perspective, but I assume that I dont always get everything right. Since Im basing the male viewpoint off what I know from other stories and other people and not necessarily personal experience, I know that Im not going to get everything right. But I like writing from different viewpoints that are not necessarily my own. Most of the characters in my game are fairly different than me, but theyre all fun to write.

Do you worry about being criticized for objectification?

Not really? I feel like I do a good job of making my characters feel like real people, not objects. I generally dont worry too much about being criticized about anything anyways.

Who is your personal favorite character?

Tough one, but probably Kendra. Her story is really personal for me and I love writing her. Personality-wise, shes probably the closest to me.

To which character do you identify the most?

There are definitely pieces of myself in all of the characters, but Kendra is the one I identify with the most, for sure. Her personality and attitude are the closest to my own.

Why did you decide to make a porn game?

Money, mostly. Its hard to make money from visual novels. People support porn games pretty well on Patreon though. I also like porn and played a few of them and was like I can do this!

What do you do for a living?

I make Come Home! This is my full-time job and Im supported financially by my patrons and by people buying the DLC on Steam. Im doing pretty okay right now! Not making a TON of money, but more than I made at my last full-time job, and Im much happier doing it.

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Texas. I live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Can we see more about your everyday life?

I keep a daily developers diary on my Discord server. I also write a weekly personal journal called RJ Ramblings, where I talk about what Im doing besides working on the game. You can find that on my Patreon.

This is just a small patch to fix a few bugs that have been found since release. Changelog below:

- Fixed a bug causing error messages with Tammy's hint text.
- Made sure Kendra's sex sounds stop at end of sex scenes.
- Changed some hint text to make more clear.

- Fixed a missing Juliana images and code causing error messages.
- Changed it so you can continue along Jez's storyline if you report the meth lab early. (NOTE: There are still some inconsistencies in the story if you do this. They'll be fixed in a future update. You should still be able to complete all her content though.)

Update 13 Released

Here it is! Update 13 is now available to everybody for free. I really hope you enjoy it.

All the characters have some new content. The progression system has changed a little. And Kendra has voice acting for some lines and for her sex scenes.

Be sure to check the character's screens in the menu to see what new content is available for each of them.

Hey everybody!

I just released the third DLC for the game, Juliana's Clothing expansion. It's very much like the first two DLCs, in that it is ONLY clothing options for dates with Juliana. I realize it's not much, and I don't expect everybody to buy it, but for those who would like to support the game, this is a good way to do that and get a little something in return.

I'm pretty happy with Juliana's outfits as well. For those who don't like her short, natural hair, she has an alternative hair style for each date location now, and I think she looks super cute.

Update 13 Progress


Now for the second part of this little post, I wanted to let you all know how things are going on Update 13.

I've been working very hard on it. It's a HUGE update, so it takes a while to make, but things are going pretty smoothly so far.

I am a little over halfway done with creating all the new content. Then I have to do testing and polishing and all of that.

Right now, expected release date here on Steam is November 11th. Patreon gets the update two to three weeks earlier than that.

If you'd like more frequent updates on how the game is progressing, I do weekly updates on Patreon and I keep a developers diary on Discord that I update daily.

Update 12 Coming Soon!

Hey everybody!

I'm a little late on the June progress report because I wanted to get the Update 12 title screen completed and have a solid release date for you all.

Update 12 is complete and is currently in the hands of my testers. We're going to be testing it and polishing it over the next week, then it'll go to my patrons first. It will release here on July 15th.

Update 12 is going to contain new scenes for all characters. The four girls on the title screen are the ones who are getting the biggest scenes this update, but Mari, Juliana, Mrs. Mills, and Mi-Cha all have pretty big scenes too, and the others are all getting something as well.

The update has 12 new story scenes, 5 new dates, 17 new repeatable sex scenes, 20 new conversations, over 450 new images, 41 new animations, and a couple of other small surprises and gameplay improvements.

That's all I got for you for now! Thanks for supporting. You guys have shown a lot of support by buying the DLC, which is extremely helpful for me and I appreciate it so much. Jamie Clothing DLC Released

Hey everybody! Just wanted to let you know that I've released the Jamie clothing DLC, and you can buy it in the store now if you want to help support the game.

There is also a small patch to the main game that makes it so that this DLC will work and also fixes a few bugs that people ran into in the last Update. I'll put the patch notes at the bottom of this post.

Just to restate - this DLC is just a cosmetic change and not at all necessary for you to enjoy the game. I'm committed to this game always being free, and this is just a way for those who want to support through Steam to be able to.

Hey everybody!

It's been about a month since Update 11 released. I hope you all enjoyed it! I've been hard at work on Update 12 and wanted to let you all know how it's coming along.

It's another big update with new content for all the characters and some pretty major scenes that I know a lot of you are going to love.

RIght now, I am about 35% finished with the update and moving forward pretty steadily. I'll be taking a vacation next week, which will cut into my work time a bit, but it's the first vacation that I've EVER gone on alone with my partner, and I've been able to do that because of the amazing support you all have given me for this game, so thank you so much for that!

So when is the next update going to release?

I don't have a solid release date to give you right now, but I'm expecting to be done with the update in late June, which means it'll likely be released here on Steam in early July. Patrons always get it two weeks in advance. Once I have a more concrete idea of when it'll release, I will give you a date.

Jamie Clothing Expansion DLC


In other news, the new clothing DLC is going to release on Thursday, May 5th. It's very similar to the last DLC, in that it's only intended for those who want to help support the game and get a little something in return. It is purely cosmetic, adding 4 new outfits for Jamie to wear during her dates, and it'll be $2.99.

The release date here on Steam is still April 1st.

Update 11 Progress Report

Hey everybody! It's been about a month since the last progress report, so I wanted to let you know how things are going over here in development-land.

I've been working hard every day on the update. It's pretty big and taking a little longer than I'd hoped, but it's coming along and I think you will all love it when it releases.

So, the big question - when is it going to release!?

Right now I am at about 70% of the content completed. After I finish creating all the content, I also have to test it myself for a few days, then it goes to my alpha testers, then the release window starts, beginning with my patrons and eventually releasing for free on here.

Right now, it's looking like this will be the release window:

  • Beta Testers ($20+ tier patrons) - March 11th
  • Patron-Only - March 18th
  • Steam Release - April 1st.

No, it's not an April fools joke - the next update should be here on Steam on April 1st.

I realize that's still a bit away. This update has taken a little longer than expected, due to the holidays, me getting slowed down with COVID for a couple of weeks, and some annoying graphical bugs that I've had to deal with, but I believe that the rest of the work on this update should move fairly smoothly and hopefully the next one won't take quite as long. And if you want to get it a couple of weeks early, you could always become a patron!

I'm really excited to get this update out to you all. There's so much more I want to say about it, but I'll save that until a later date. Update 11 Progress Report

Hey everybody! I wanted to just make a quick post here to let you know that I'm hard at work on the next update for the game. I'm glad you all seemed to enjoy Update 10 and are already ready for the next bit of the story. It's going to be a little while, but it's in progress.

What's going to be in Update 11?


Every character will get more content and we'll see the main story advance slightly.
  • 15 new story scenes
  • 465 new images
  • 33 new animations
  • 9 new dates
  • 7 new repeatable sex scenes
  • 20 new conversations
I won't get into story elements, but there's some major things happening in this update. Biggest scenes go to Suzy, Tammy, Kendra, Izzy, Whitney, Bai, Jez, Dana, and Mrs. Mills. All pretty big scenes that I think you will enjoy and some stuff that I know a lot of people have been waiting for.

How close are you to being done with Update 11?

Not very! With the holidays, I lost a couple of weeks of work and really just got back to working hard on the update this last week.

I am about 15% done with it at this point. If you want more frequent updates on the progress, I keep a developer's diary on my Discord server that I update daily, and I update my subscribers on Patreon every Friday.

When is Update 11 going to release?

This is the big question! Been getting it a lot.

Right now, I don't know. I don't have a release date in mind at the moment. However, I can estimate based on my progress that the release will likely be sometime in March.

Final Thoughts

It makes me happy to see so many people excited about the game and playing it and supporting by buying the DLC or joining the Patreon. It really has made a huge difference in my life and it helps motivate me to get up every morning and work on this game that I love.

Hey everyone! Update 10 is now available to play for free. This update contains:

  • New Dates for Adrian and Whitney.

  • New Conversations for Lisa, Suzy, Dana, Ms. Welch, Mrs. Mills, Whitney, Jez, and Mi-Cha

Along with the new update, I've also released the Mari Clothing Expansion DLC. This DLC contains 4 new clothing option, one per date for Mari. Whenever you take her on a date, you will be given a choice if you want her to wear her normal outfit, or her alternate DLC outfit.

This DLC is intended to be a small cosmetic upgrade for the people who want to help support the game. It intentionally does not add a lot to the game, as I don't want you to feel like you HAVE to have it. Only buy if you want to support and want to see Mari in some different clothes. I'll be releasing more of these DLC packs in the future for other characters, as long as this one does well.

On the same day as the Update gets released here on Steam, I'll also be releasing the first DLC package for the game.

This package will be completely optional and cosmetic. It contains four new outfits for Mari to wear on her four different dates, and gives you the option before the dates to choose what she wears. It's going to cost $2.99.

If this does well, I'll release more packages like this in the future for other characters. This is intended to be something small so that those who don't want to pay are not missing out on anything major, but those that want to support the game on Steam have a way to do so. I hope you all like it.
