Hi, it's Ondrej from Charles Games once again. Germany has a long and complex relationship with the Czech Republic. Svoboda 1945: Liberation (releasing August 3!) is dealing with some dark and challenging chapters of our shared history. The game takes place in Sudetenland from where a large number of German people were expelled after World War 2 - often just because of their nationality. Homes lost, families torn apart. Our Anna Grtschel was one of them and now she's back for the first time, to show her granddaughter around a place that is full of memories. From all of this, it's apparent that we are dealing with history that crosses national borders, the one that is shared by both Czech and German people. To honor that complex history Svoboda 1945: Liberation will be available in German! With subtitles, transcripts of historical documents, and items. Our goal is the same as with Attentat 1942 - to make the game that talks about our common history more accessible to those it talks about as well. We are working hard on making the German localization available upon launch. So if you have any German-speaking friends you think would be interested in a game that is about history we share and one that doesn't shy away from showing the difficult parts of it, let them know. We are really looking forward to the feedback of our German players. Talk to you soon! And as always, thanks so much to you, our fans, for your continuing support. See you on August 3! - Svoboda 1945 Linux [10.09 G]
You are sent to a small village of Svoboda near the Czech-German border to investigate an old feud. You soon realize the case is linked to World War II and the rise of the communist dictatorship that came after. During the investigation, you discover a photograph of your grandfather. What was he doing here? Was he somehow involved in the violence? Find out the truth and complete his story.
Talk to people who saw the horrors of war first-hand in our in-depth dialogues where every choice matters. How to approach someone who lost a friend on the battlefield? Or a woman who was expelled as a child, returning for the first time to see the place where she grew up?
Relive memories of the witnesses in atmospheric mini-games. Develop old photos that reveal details of tragic events, try to keep your farm together in the face of communist terror, or play cards on the eve of historic elections.
Uncover the things your grandpa never talked about. And answer for yourself: can the horrors of war justify the violence that came after its end?
Places full of remnants of the past await. Svoboda 1945: Liberation is a game full of rare historical material, footage, and memorabilia for you to explore. The game is a follow-up to the award-winning Attentat 1942. It was written in cooperation with a team of professional historians.
