Totally Reliable Status Update

Hey delivery drivers, Since the release of the game last week we have received a lot of feedback from the community and we've been hard at work to quickly fix all reported issues.
We thought, as it has been one week since release, this might be a good time to take a step back and have a look at what we have done so far. This is also a great opportunity, for all of you who brought us feedback, to see how valuable your help has been.

Major fixes:

2nd of April 2021 - 2.00.03

  • Players will now be able to change graphic settings while in-game. This will be a temporary fix for the lagging issue which partially stemmed from the host struggling to render the game for everyone.
  • Free camera mode issues that would send the camera into a spin have been fixed.
  • A bug with the terrain on GASA island has been fixed.

3rd of April 2021 - 2.00.04

  • Input lag decreased by reducing the degree of online visual smoothing (this change will be visible to players on an online server, not hosts, and might affect some players more than others)
  • Added a depth of field setting to turn it on/off so as to reduce the depth of field.
  • Character limits set on server names
  • Prevent ability to created multiple clones of players in the local join screen
  • Prevent photo mode when in cutscene
  • Fix scaling issues with map screen and pause screen
  • Fix the three blimp deliveries not having package acceptor on the blimp
  • Fix issue with hovercraft derby and garage spawners spawning vehicles locally and not through photon
  • Put garages on the ground
  • Fix graphical bug in the character shop with the shoes tab

3rd of April 2021 - 2.00.05

  • Added a server health indicator. This indicator will display 1 to 4 health bars depending on the quality of the server that are available. The quality of the server is defined by the ping of the host server combined with yours as well as the FPS of the server host. We then use those two metrics to try and identify what will the quality of your experience be on that server, 1 being low and 4 good.
  • We took additional steps towards reducing input lag by lowering the online visual smoothing parameter
  • We added a default "Best Region" option from the server region dropdown list. Selecting this option will automatically direct you towards servers located in the region the closest to you/with the lowest ping. Please note that if you are hosting a game you can find the "Best Region" in which you are hosting by going the "Host" options from the in-game.
  • We removed some rapid key shortcuts that were switching control scheme layouts/unlocking zones without player knowledge.
  • Fixed several issues reported in regards to controls dropping/Simple controls & other option toggling

4th of April 2021 - 2.00.053

  • Fixed an issue in which the server list would go back to the top at refresh, making it difficult to reach server at the bottom of the list.
  • The server health bar as been moved to the left of the server name in order to differentiate it more clearly from the amount of players

5th of April 2021 - 2.00.06

  • Using the "Quick Join" in order to join an online game in your region will now select only servers that have a good health status.
  • The vehicle entry assistance feature will now be deactivated automatically if you are currently grabbing an object such as a box or another player.
  • Fixed an issue which would display an infinite loading screen when joining a server.
  • Updated the UI animations on the Hosting menu which was not working as intended for some players.
  • Fixed an issue in which repeated quick succession in.game respawns would cause strong server lag.
  • Updated the spawn area of the Booster Club Arena cars wich were bein spawned 5ft off the ground.
There are still some issues that we are currently working on and we are really gratefull for the patience you have shown so far in giving us the space to make all those corrections one by one. So what is the plan ahead you might ask? Although some things might still change depending on the feedback we receive (again feel free to add your grain of salt in the comment section) but below are so far some of the major points we are trying to tackle.

Upcoming Changes:

Input Lag

Although we have made several patches to reduce the general feeling of "lag" (see above) we still see some delay in controls when you play online on someone else's server. This is due to the fact that the game is using a framework in which the person hosting the game needs to receive info from players, process it and send it back to players before they move (in short). The reason we have implemented it this way and not like other multiplayer (&ragdoll) games out there is because our game is much more fast-paced and interactive. In short in this game the data needs to go back and forth before we show on your screen what is happening. For instance we need players to be able to each hold the same box (or eachother) while driving a helicopter at high speed right into the mouth of a Volcano (true story). For this to work the host needs to be able to calculate at each second what each player is doing so that they are all correctly syncronized. Furthermore the fact that the host should have a fairly low ping for the game to run smoothly, as well as a reasonably good computer to process the information for the 1-3 other players on the server, adds a layer of complexity to our system. That being said we have a few leads to improve the situation without making this game into another one and you should start to see it coming during the next few weeks.

No place to deliver

We have received reports from some players who are not able to find the delivery location for their parcels. We are currently focusing hard on fixing this and believe we should have an update ready in a few days. That being said as far as we know this update might cause the loss of progression for those players who are having this issue. A necessary evil to solve the problem but we are still very sorry that it might come down to this and are currently working on finding a way to avoid it. In the meantime if you are one of the players experiencing this issue the quick-fix we have for this is to delete your save file which is located in your game folder, under the name "progress.dad". We know this is not ideal and fairly frustrating for those experiencing this issue so rest assured a fix will come very soon. We also want to send a quick shout out to anyone who might be having this issue: it would be awesome if you could come chat with us on Discord, by reporting your issue in the Bug section, so that we can work with you to resolve it. Link to the Discord at the bottom of this post.

Tutorial

The tutorial currently implemented in the game allows you to quickly grasp the controls of the game before starting your journey as a delivery driver. We would like to improve this a little by also granting you the opportunity to learn about the different devices and mechanics available in the game with a more focused guidance. We will be working on this in the coming weeks!

Control scheme

We currently have 2 control schemes implemented in the game. By default you will have the new "Simplified controls" which allow you to use one button/key to grab with both hands and one to raise both hands. But if you want you can go in the settings and revert to the old control scheme which had you manage each arm independently (both for grabbing and raising, so 4 buttons instead of 2 with simplified controls). We have received feedback that the new simplified controls were still not exactly what some of you would have wanted and so we are looking into how could we improve this further.

Bugs

We still have some bugs that are being worked on and we will continue to get those sorted out one by one in the comings days/weeks,

In Conclusion:

Thank you again for all you support, we are hard at work on making the game better and will continue to bring you updates and new content as long as there is a community who wants them. Feel free to discuss in the chat below if you have any comments on what was presented above or if you would like us to bring to the game in the next few month. Also if you have any issues or just want to come chat with us and our community please feel free to join us on Discord: https://discord.com/invite/totallyreliable
