How real people become characters in the game.

Nastya is my teacher in vocals, which I started studying from the beginning of the year. The project, by the way, was in deep freeze by that time. All my strength was spent on the main work with the publisher and on the fight with myself and the leaking roof. But you never know who, where and when will inspire you to great achievements. After just a couple of classes, the image of a new heroine was born in my head. The image of an unattainable star, mysterious and shining.
Contrast is one of the main tools of storytelling. I decided that the game needed a ray of light among all the hopelessness that I had created in my depressive mind. And I made music and my passion for it the main theme of the game. With her voice, the new heroine Victoria closes the rifts to other layers of the world. Music saves you from the oppressive reality and horrors around you. A separate game mechanic for keeping characters sane will be based on this.
The trailer is just the beginning. Nastya's voice will sound as you play as Masha (yes, she doesn't voice herself, because the new character says too little). Will be cool! I already have candidates for the other main roles, but more on that later.
Lately Ive been busy adding gameplay scenes to the game and clarifying my understanding of what kind of game Im making and what mechanics I want to implement.

Because I want to make my story as interactive as possible, I chose a few core mechanics that are also ways to get through certain situations.
Point&click: collecting and using objects, puzzles.
Action scenes: fighting monsters with the help of superpowers, quicktime scenes.
Stealth: you dont have to go ahead, but bypass the danger. Distract opponents and take advantage of the environment.
Choice of events: in dialogues, in tactics of fighting monsters, in action scenes.
Im already beginning to better understand what kind of game this Almost my floor: duality will be. There will be quite a lot of mechanics, you can fight monsters, fight them, run away, be smart and avoid dangerous situations. The main thing is I want to tell a story. the story of heroes who find themselves surrounded by fear at the worst moment of their lives. How will they cope? Depends on the player's decisions. Maybe they won't cope at all.
The heroes have superpowers that contribute to the choice of a certain passage option. But they are not obliged to do so.
All images are based on the author's real fears and nightmares. Even the initial idea of the elevator taking you somewhere to an impossible floor number is one of my frequent nightmares.

Hello everyone! We are now actively developing support for the game on Mac and Linux operating systems. The release is scheduled in about a month, maybe even earlier! I also wanted to share with you the process of developing locations in the game.
First was made a 3D model of the room.
Then the model was overpainted in photoshop.
Then some of the rooms were overpainted again for demonic versions.
All images are high resolution, they can be enlarged and viewed in detail.

This time I want to share with you the old concepts of the main character Alex. Many people know from our last game Potata that we often change the concept of the main character during development. The main character of the game "Potata: Fairy Flower" had more than 8 versions. This time we pulled ourselves together and reduced this number to only 3.
The picture is a large size, you can enlarge it and study the past versions of the character in more detail.
The first one looked too funny against the rest of the characters, which looked the same as now in the main game. The second was replaced by the third because we wanted to makehim a more serious look. This time only the faces were changed, not the main body, so we did not change animations for all of them.

Hello everyone! We didn't about our progress for a long time, and I think the moment has come. We thought a lot about our exploration system and decided to slightly change it.
Previously, when you click on any active object in a location, a selection window always appeared and you had to click on one of the options.
If this is an item, then examine it or take it. If a person - then examine or talk. We thought that many items cannot be taken and the hero often just says a standard reply, or something superfluous.
Fun fact - in the early stages there were always 3 options at one time.
And now we've added objects that can only be inspected or only taken and they will have special icons on the cursor. Thus, the player will poke fewer times and examine the location faster.
Don't worry, the option with simultaneous inspection and taking is still there. For items like that cursor now slightly changed, it has a question mark inside.

Hello everyone! The world of the game is getting bigger compared to the original plans, new heroes, new places and plot twists appear. We have to admit that we need more time to fine-tune the game, so we have to postpone the release of the game until August 2021 in order to give our best, put into the game everything we want, and polish it. Here are some interesting new locations that weren't on the original plans.
We continue to introduce to you new characters of the game, Alex's girlfriend - Nika. Play a key role in the story. She was an artist before arriving in the house where the game takes place. Many terrible things happening prevent her from drawing. Will Nika be able to convince Alex to leave this place and start a new life somewhere else from a scratch.
