- Added SFX for spirit portal - Adjusted the volume levels of the music for level 2 and ending song - Added vocals for Oboroguruma - Other additional SFX and QoL enhancements - Optimization improvements for art and lighting - Updated Control settings to now have input binding - Added additional invert camera options - Additional tidbits of lore have been added throughout the game. This lore is optional and can access it by 'inspecting.' - Updated IK to not be active when falling or jumping, this should help with the 'floaty' feeling when jumping around and also not flying off the platforms while jumping off

- Fixed: If fire from a lantern was taken back before getting collectible, can't pick it up - Some missing localization for all languages - Fixed: Pressing ESC in the collectible menu makes the cursor disappear - Fixed: When using Xbox controller it automatically lists PS controller as Xbox - Fixed Some audio tracks that weren't playing - Game no longer crashes when starting a new game in full-screen mode - Updated steam achievement typo - Updated Cave of Reflection introductory area to close gap in debri (this was causing some players to get stuck) - Fixed spirit fountain SFX. Now the water sound should only play if the fountain has water in it. - Fixed collectible SFX bug. Now they will play an ambient sound until collected. Then after collecting, if you reload a save, the collectibles won't play a sound if they've been collected. It's recommended to start a new game with this update as the save data will not be completely compatible. Hi everyone! We became aware of an issue with purchasing the bundle on steam. Apologies for the inconvenience, happy to share that the issue has now been resolved!

What Happened?

There was a bug where the lorebook and artbook were being included with the base game, even if the bundle wasn't purchased. This bug has now been resolved, this means if you haven't purchased the bundle it will no longer show up in your DLC. Thank you all for your patience while we worked on this!

We originally were planning on adding mac as well but it has turned out to be more difficult than we thought! We are still trying to make it happen though, will keep everyone updated! This week we dont have much visual progress to share but can say that we are working away at the game and prepping for event season thats starting soon! Weve completely implemented our collection and UI welcome system :) We also updated our credits menu to be in a grid layout to be more organized, still needs some cleanup but its looking better already! Also added a little bit more explanation text for the spirit pool system.

Added toggle to be able to turn post-processing off or on! (This is the painterly effect we have in-game that is noticeable in the distance)

Weve also been doing some concept art for some of the platforms we have in-game for navigational puzzles.

Localization is in!

Were excited to share that we have implemented our localization system and we now have: English, Spanish (Latin), Spanish (Spain), Simplified Chinese, and Japanese! More languages coming soon! We plan on adding more in future updates as well. These languages will be included in the next demo update.

Hello Wolf Pack! We hope youve been well, it feels like its been forever since our last dev log but its only been a month! We got SO much to talk about in this update so lets get to it!

Dev Updates

Worldbuilding

Weve been marching on creating additional props and building up the mortal world of Path of Kami! Below are some cool stuff weve been working on.

Jizo Statues

Jizo (/womb of the earth) is made in the image of Jizo Bosatsu, guardian deity of children and travelers. They are regarded as ancient protectors, we thought itd fit well with Kazeyo on his journey to the spirit world! Here are a few variations the team has put together!

Moonlight Falls Area

We have completely revamped the shrine area that leads to moonlight falls. We dont want to give away TOO much of the future demo update coming soon but heres a little sneak peek :)

UI Updates!

We added welcome area prompts to welcome you to new areas youll encounter! Comes with a fancy animation too <3 For the prologue release well tie these and future areas to achievements :)
A collectible inventory menu has been implemented!! Each time you enter a new area youll get a number of collectibles in the area. As you find them youll unlock them in the menu. For the prologue, we plan on adding additional information about items and lore here as well!
We also added new art for the pause menu to make it consistent with all other menus in the game.

Photo Mode Implementation

Weve implemented a photo mode so you can take all sorts of photo masterpieces in the game!! Here is some work in progress shots of some of the UI updates we were doing for it.

Demo News + Upcoming Updates

We plan on releasing a big demo update in the next couple of weeks to officially close out the demo. In the update itll include the above changes along with:

• Advanced Settings such as turning off post-processing etc.
• Menus interactable with a controller
• Additional dialogue
• Updated credits menu
• We also plan on doing Mac and Linux builds!

Hello Den Dwellers! Today we launched our demo for Steam #NEXTFEST. We previously had an early demo on itch io and gamejolt, in case you checked that out this update comes with some major environmental changes and new content for the event! Hi everyone! Hope everyone is doing well! We are excited to announce that we released an alpha demo of Path of Kami on Itch io and Game Jolt today! If you haven't already heard, we are also currently running a crowdfunding campaign to gather funds for the Path of Kami Prologue. The Path of Kami Demo follows the spirit of a Japanese wolf Kazeyo as he navigates the trials of the Mortal World in the form of puzzles. Path of Kami contains elements of both traditional Japanese folktales (Momotaro, Issun-Boushi), as well as a more personal journey for the main character.
The demo is set in the Mortal realm and contains five areas where you must solve puzzles to navigate through the map and collect spirit keys. Explore a beautiful snowy, watercolor-esque environment while collecting collectibles and lighting lanterns. You'll also enjoy beautiful music and sound effects that are awe-inspiring and relaxing. Grab a cup of tea or coffee, whichever is your fancy cause this is gonna be a bit of a read! But lots of cool stuff.....It's been a while since we've shared some game updates so here we go! We've been working on worldbuilding and collectibles. We're still finishing some things on the demo but starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel! We're currently working on bug fixing and polish mainly for our menus. We've most recently been working on some UI improvements on our collectible pop-ups.

Hi everyone! Wow, we are super excited to FINALLY have a steam page for our prologue. If you happened to stumble upon the game, I'll share a little about us. Path of Kami is being developed by a small indie team called Captilight, we have been working on the game for close to two years now and we are thrilled to share what we have been working on so far!

About the game

Path of Kami follows the spirit of recently-deceased Japanese wolf Kazeyo as he navigates the trials of the Mortal and Spirit World, in the form of puzzles. He is accompanied by Wisp, a wolf spirit embodying both his mother and his more distant ancestors, who is there to guide him on his journey. The game contains elements of both traditional Japanese folktales (Momotaro, Issun-Boushi), as well as a more personal journey for the main character. The prologue consists of a portion of Kazeyo's journey in the mortal world and is an introduction to the game. We can't wait to hear what you think!
