In the wake of the devastating events in the Gaza region, it's impossible for us to sit by and merely observe. The numbers themselves are heart-wrenching as of today, October 27th, 2023, over 3,000 innocent children have lost their lives due to Israeli bombings. But these numbers only scratch the surface of the pain and suffering endured by the Palestinian people. Beyond this staggering loss of young lives, the region has witnessed countless civilian casualties, the destruction of entire residential blocks, and debilitating shortages of essential resources like food, water, electricity, gas, and first aid. The recent halt in Internet telecommunications further isolates the people of Gaza, cutting them off from the rest of the world. These ruthless attacks came following the Hamas organization's indiscriminate kidnapping and mass murder targeting hundreds of innocent Israeli civilians, many of whom were young men and women attending a nearby dance party. We understand that we are just a small entity in the vast digital landscape. As an applied cryptography consultancy and software publisher, our immediate influence might seem minimal in the grand scheme of things. However, we firmly believe in the power of collective action and the ripple effects of individual contributions. In light of this, we are proud to announce a special initiative: From October 27th, 2023, to October 31st, 2024, 100% of every purchase of our flagship puzzle adventure game, Dr. Kobushi's Labyrinthine Laboratory, will directly support the people of Gaza. The full revenue from these sales will be donated to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency's Gaza Emergency Appeal. We understand that not everyone is a gamer, but we encourage you to share this initiative with friends, family, and your broader network. Spreading the word can amplify our collective impact. Furthermore, for those who wish to contribute directly, we recommend donating to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency or other trusted organizations working tirelessly on the ground. This contribution comes on top of independent contributions that Symbolic Software and its staff will also make to UNRWA's Gaza effort. In these trying times, let's come together as a global community and prove that compassion, unity, and action can make a difference. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Gaza, and we stand in solidarity with them. Your support can bring hope and much-needed relief to a region in desperate need. We understand the importance of trust, especially when it comes to charitable contributions. Therefore, in the coming months, we will periodically publish official receipts and acknowledgments from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency to confirm the successful transfer of funds. Our community deserves to see the tangible impact of their support, and we pledge to keep you informed, engaged, and confident that every cent is going directly to those in need in Gaza. Together, let's game for a cause and play our part in rebuilding Gaza.

Hello everyone, I'd like to share that I've been deeply heartened by the reaction so far to Dr. Kobushi's Labyrinthine Laboratory. Many of you have shared your positive experiences with the game's puzzles, characters and music, and our recent Halloween Steam sale was a significant success. I'm truly very happy to see people enjoying the game, and I want you to know that I'm here to ensure that the game continues to deliver a high level of quality and value for players. In our previous software update, I announced the addition of the Undo Button, after it became clear that this was a prominent community demand and that some players were suffering from trying to solve some puzzles without one. Since then, another issue has arisen in discussions on the Steam Community Hub and on Discord: many players have complained that it's impossible to go back to previously solved levels in order to grab Gems or Disks that were previously missed. Earlier versions of Dr. Kobushi's Labyrinthine Laboratory would just make all Gems and Disks on solved levels transparent, and picking them up would not increase the Gem/Disk count, elicit character reactions, or matter in any way. The reason for that was a simple and bad one: it was simply due to the fact that the game does not track obtained Gems/Disks per-level, but only as a total count, due to an honest lack of attention to detail on my part. Today's update introduces new code that henceforth will track obtained Gems and Disks individually, allowing players to go back and try and collect missed Gems and Disks. Implementing this feature raised the question of what to do with previous Gem/Disk counts on existing save files: if a player has a save file with 30 Gems and 12 Disks, how is the game supposed to know which specific Gems and Disks were picked up if the save file never tracked that information? The solution that I've arrived to is the following: if your previous save file indicates that you've got, for example, 30 Gems and 12 Disks, then only the first 30 Gems and the first 12 Disks of the game will be marked as collected, regardless of which Gems/Disks were actually collected, as the game updates your save file to the new format. While this may label some uncollected Gems/Disks as collected and vice versa, I feel that this is the most suitable compromise given the circumstances. Afterwards, as you continue playing, collected Gems and Disks will be tracked individually, and missed Gems/Disks will be available for re-collection afterwards by simply revisiting an earlier level. I hope that players will appreciate this update. I am listening carefully to your comments, feedback and suggestions, and care enormously about your enjoyment of Dr. Kobushi's Labyrinthine Laboratory. It's my pleasure to see so many people around the world enjoy a game that I poured so much passion and effort into, and I look forward to answering your questions and comments. Thank you very much for playing, and as always, please don't forget to leave a Steam review!

Hello everyone, This update to Dr. Kobushi's Labyrinthine Laboratory brings a big and oft-requested feature: an Undo button! You can finally undo Ayla's moves in a level. There are some restrictions: losing a level clears your move history, and you can't use the undo functionality if you're about to lose. Fair's fair. The Undo button may be accessed by pressing Backspace on keyboard, the Y button on Xbox layout controllers, the X button on Nintendo layout controllers, or from the Pause menu. We hope you're enjoying Dr. Kobushi's Labyrinthine Laboratory! Please don't forget to leave a Steam review.
Hello, everyone! Another minor update to Dr. Kobushi's Labyrinthine Laboratory, this time, bringing:
- Fix a rare and specific bug that affected PyramidBot movement (with sincere thanks to Hazelstorm for spotting the issue.)
- Minor improvements.
Hello everyone, We're happy to provide another update to Dr. Kobushi's Labyrinthine Laboratory. This time, we're offering the following bug fixes and improvements:
- Gameplay change: the game will now consider a level solved once Ayla reaches a Level's Exit, even if a Robot is right behind her when the Exit is reached.
- Fixed a bug where the game would prematurely declare a "Game Over" state, falsely detecting that Ayla had run out of moves. This was reported twice as occurring on Level 34, although during testing we found that this bug occurred quite rarely and it took a while for it to be reproduced.
- Fixed a bug that would sometimes result in the tutorial information boxes for Conveyor and Button Lock tiles not showing.
- Fixed a typo in Maurice's dialog.
- Minor quality of life improvements.
- Minor memory optimizations.

Inspired by...
Dr. Kobushis Labyrinthine Laboratory (DKLL) is strongly inspired by, and would have never existed without, Toby Foxs work on Undertale and Deltarune. While DKLL has completely unrelated gameplay mechanics, Toby Foxs work is still what inspired me to try and make a game in the first place, especially with his approach to writing. Thank you, Toby. Dr. Kobushis Labyrinthine Laboratory is also inspired by SEGAs Dr. Robotniks Mean Bean Machine, specifically in how you can clearly see an antagonists face and facial expression while solving puzzles. The naming of the game is also clearly inspired by DRMBM. Dr. Kobushis Labyrinthine Laboratory is also inspired by Yacht Club Games Shovel Knight, by Friend & Fairys Petal Crash, and by Popcap Games Mummy Maze. Finally, Dr. Kobushis Labyrinthine Laboratory is inspired by the 1994 film The Mask.

Deep within Pine Cone Forest, the adventurous Ayla and her adoring dog Falafel often made their coolest discoveries. Until one day, deep inside the forest, Ayla and Falafel stumbled upon an ominous, steel-and-stone tower...
Oh, no! Ayla's dog, Falafel, raced into the mysterious tower deep within the forest. Now it's up to Ayla to follow Falafel inside, and to save him from what lies ahead...

Escape the Puppet Panics...
Dr. Kobushi's laboratory is run and maintained by the Puppet Panics, each with their own brand of puzzles and outright mental derangement.
Get stuck with the manic Klaus and his explosive anxiety. Make your way to the bureaucracy-obsessed Maurice. Face against the terrifyingly cute Janine. It's... really not that great to have to deal with any of them, to be honest. They're kind of a handful and... also they're wooden puppets? How does that work?
...and their army of robots!
If their verbose antics weren't enough to wear you down, the Puppet Panics are equipped with a small army of robots to chase you around the board. Avoid the quick DevilBot's electric zaps, the slow but determined BugBot's hammer, and... just avoid the Pyramid. I don't want to talk about it. Just... don't go there.
Face over one hundred puzzling, thought-provoking levels as Ayla climbs to the top floor of Dr. Kobushi's Labyrinthine Laboratory. Solve challenging, riddling puzzles, and make your way to the top so you can rescue Falafel from the eccentric doctor!
Deeper mysteries unfold as you reach the Doctor!
Inspired by video game masterpieces such as Undertale and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine as well as by a renaissance in retro games as seen in, for example, Petal Crash, Dr. Kobushi's Labyrinthine Laboratory is a story-heavy game, focusing on puzzling levels as well as on engaging and (hopefully!) funny story, characters and dialog.
As you get closer to rescuing Falafel, you may discover that not all is as it seems... or, if you're not the curious type, you may just finish the game and walk away none the wiser.
Will you help Ayla fend off the Puppet Panics and their small army of robots, and save Falafel from the eccentric doctor???
